I'm opening this morning. Sorry. I've just been up since forever it seems and instead of going back to bed, thought I'd open the door here.
It's Monday, good morning! Another frosty morning but with warming up.
Not sure what is on the agenda for me today. Maybe I'll sweep and then pull out the other sewing machine and see if it will be on my side. LOL.
I'm thinking it might be goulash for lunch/supper today. Sounds good to me anyway.
Sue might be going home today. I visited her the other day, and she seems to be somewhat better, thank you God! I wish she'd went into senior apartments like where Mom was. She doesn't want to leave her house though. She did say to me that when she gets home, we will go out to eat. That's a plus.
I'm sorta bummed. The cookies I'd decided to make for our cookie exchange might not be happening. I thought a simple cookie recipe I found that is a chocolate chip with mint M&Ms would be easy. Ha, can't find the M&Ms anywhere. Then the other is an oatmeal apple one. Have all the ingredients but a caramel pudding. Yep, can't find it either. Wonder what other flavor I could substitute? I'll have to research that.
That's it for now.

Sun is shining this morning. Going to be a little warmer today. I decided to get my long handled duster out to clean hard to reach areas
Just Me Good news that Sue will be going home today. I'm glad you & her will be going out to eat. I'm sure you'll both enjoy that.

Good morning Thanks for opening this morning, Wanda. Is the recipe one that has been around awhile? Too bad that some of the things you need for the cookies aren't available. I've never heard of caramel pudding, but it sounds yummy. Good luck finding what you need. Good news that Sue may be coming home.
This morning we took the cart to the pet area, I was too lazy to walk today. Bill was the only person there today. Mandy did her duty and was ready to go home. She isn't into much playing lately. She may be getting lazy too.
The first load of laundry is on the rinse cycle, then the towels. Tomorrow another load and that will be it for laundry until the sheets on Friday. The machines do all the work so it's not hard work for me.
After the laundry is done I'll head to the UPS store. The pillow I ordered won't work either. I tried different ways but I just can't get it to work for me. So back it goes. Next option is bite the bullet and go to get a massage and hope it helps my neck for awhile. I just have to make sure they don'te touch my shoulders or biceps, so that may be a deal breaker on the effectiveness of a massage. And at the price they get I want it to work.
Time to roll, ttfn.

Good morning grannies another beautiful day for my corner of the "hood. It was a frosty morning but now there is sunshine and blue skies and the temp will be in the low 60s this afternoon! Sounds like a super nice day and more like it for a few more days. Sure wish I could get outside to do a few things but you know how it goes the old grey mare....I sure ain't what I used to be!!
Justme always good to see you hear doesn't matter if you open or close the door maybe pop in some other time. Those cookies sound good hope you find all the ing. to make them.So glad to hear that Sue is doing better. I remember the good times when she came to the grannie meetings with you. She was just like another grannie.
IC enjoy the nice day while you can! I can't reach the low places to dust?? Kathy does a nice job cleaning some spots for me. Together we manage to get it done.
Mamms sorry to hear the pillow doesn't work out right for you. I use a nice soft snuggle pillow. Translate that to..I sleep on my left side with and soft cuddly pillow between my arms. Hope you can find a pillow that is just right for you.
The rummage sale was a huge success!! Exceeding all expectations! Over $4000.00 for the family! This will be great help as they prepare to move into the house they have bought. The first thing they need is a fence to keep the kids safe then some renovation to make it right for their family of 8 kids still at home.Thnks for your prayers now it's time to Praise Him!
As usual not much on my list for today.May sit on the deck later to soak up a few of those wonderful warm rays while wishing I could save some for a cold day.

It's a beautiful morning here too, bright sunshine, rising temps to the low 60's again today. I love it. I keep telling myself I'm going to get outside and walk! I need to run a couple of errands and make some phone calls but other than that, I don't have a lot to do. I'm not sure what lunch/supper will be. I know I have food, I just don't know what I want. This week doesn't seem to be quite as busy as last week was but still plenty of things going on. Cardiologist appointment Wednesday, hopefully it's just a regular check up.
JUSTME I was happy to read that Sue is improving too. Maybe in time she'll get back to her old self. You're a good friend to her. Just a thought, would butterscotch pudding perhaps take the place of caramel pudding? I know it isn't the same. Goulash sounds good, something to think about for me.
ICOOK I don't use my long handled duster as often as I should but it is a handy tool to reach those high places.
MAMMA I'm glad the g/c worked for you when you and Mandy went out today. I hope it keeps working. I need to call to get my vehicle in for a winter check up, including tires. I'm not sure if I need new ones or not but want a professional opinion.
GRAMMY Wow! the community really came together to help the family in need. That's great. My dad used to quote the "ole gray mare" too. That time comes on each of us quickly. Do you remember how long the grannies have been together? I have forgotten, but I know we've all aged and had various events, good and bad, in our lives. But here we are, still "plugging" away.

Hi all, it's 's been a busy weekend, so just catching up. #1 is off to a photo shoot or two. DIL is working in the basement. I made a rhubarb coffee cake, I'd read too many recipes, so put it in a 9x9 and added some topping, nope-9x13, scooped it out and put it in a bigger pan. The guys said it tastes good. Hope so, as there is a LOT of rhubarb in my fridge right now. I'm not scheduled this week except for Thursday, and I'm quite fine with that. It was great to not have to set an alarm today. Right now strawberries and rhubarb are cooking on the counter to make jam, this is for my sister.
Kind of overcast and semi-gloomy today. I have a dinner gathering for the local historical society tonight. The Yeti won't commit yet, so I plan to go by myself. I need to email my ILs as they asked if I wanted to ride with them. The school just texted, waiting for a reply.
BBL, there's more coffee on the counter.

This morning multitasking was not my thing. Boiled some jam over on the stove. That's a fun mess.

Elle. I took a look at some old grannie pic and the first meeting we had was in Jackson, MI 18 years ago! What a fun time meeting some of the grannies. We had been together on the computer for at least 3 years before that meeting. Anyone know when we moved to the Gn from some other place..first it was called Rocking Grannies then later changed to the GN.

Thanks Grammy, I knew it had to be so close to 20 years. Wow, how young I was then. LOL You, CJ, and Justme met in Middletown before we went to Michigan but I'm not sure when that was. Remember one of the grannies, saying be careful, there might be an axe killer in the group? So many memories and great friends.

Good Afternoon....
It's very windy here and making it feel colder than it really is. I guess DH won't be collecting leaves as they would all just blow back in the yard from the neighbors house. It can wait for a calmer day.
I took my mom for a early morning blood draw as the blood nurse wasn't in the office on Thursday when I took her to her dr appt. There is a lab closer to us, so we didn't have to drive as far...only bad thing is their computer system was down on Friday, so it was extra busy this morning with those people coming today. Had to wait quite a while for a 5 minute draw. We went out for breakfast to Cracker Barrel after. We were both ready for that cup of coffee.
Justme...was happy to hear Sue is going home and doing somewhat better. Hope the two of you can get together.
Icook..the sun has disappeared now. It was out this morning and made everything look pretty.
Mamma...sorry the pillow wasn't just right. I have a hard time with pillows too. I have arthritis in my neck and need lots of support. Can't sleep on a flat pillow..need it quite lofty. DH is the one that eats most the bread I make. He has toast every morning and then sometimes a sandwich or another piece of toast in the afternoon. I love homemade bread, so I tend to eat a little more when I make it. My mixer did a great job kneading the dough and it turned out extra good this time.
Grammy...how wonderful for such a successful rummage sale for the family. I think the very first meeting was you, justme, elle and me in your town. I'm thinking that was in the early 2000's. I'll have to look at my pictures to get the date. We were a group a few years before the actual meeting. Not sure when the MN/IA gals had their first meeting.
Elle...don't you just hate when you have a fridge/cupboard full of food and nothing sounds good?? I have that problem a lot...just looking for "easy" now a days.
Lauriet...another busy weekend for you. I hope your week is still one day and not more since they texted you.
Carolyn...how's that little one doing? Prayers continue for your sister.
The magnetic knife holders work great. DH really likes seeing them all and easier to find what he's looking for...me too. And the mixer fits perfect where the knife block was. I have a cover on it with pockets that hold the attachments. Oh and the mat really does make a big difference in how easy it slides and it doesn't move when I'm using the mixer. So, a win-win all around. I'm a happy camper.
Need to go to the grocery store in a bit and finish making the bed. I washed the blanket before I left this morning and now have it in the dryer. Soon I'll be done for the day, except for fixing supper.
Have a great day everyone......

CJ some of my pictures are dated and some don't have the date on them. I do remember the time you three came to the town near me because I couldn't leave dh then. He was on tube feeding and I needed to do that. I think it was Justme who had someone tell her she should be careful there could be an axe murder in out there. We didn't see anyone who had an axe!
Sounds like you have found the solution to the knife and the mixer problems. Now they can get lots of use. UMMMM love the smell of bread baking the only thing better is the taste of warm bread spread with lots of butter!

CJ, I'm so happy that the knife holder, mixer mat and mixer are working out so well for you. I'm not much of a bread eater but Mark had toast with eggs every morning. Even so, you have me wanting to at least make one loaf of bread, it's been years. I too have arthritis in my neck, also, back, hands, and feet. I'm a stomach sleeper so that really isn't good for my neck. I've tried and tried to sleep on my back, but I just don't get any quality sleep. It's really something I need to do too. It would also be better for my arms.
If I recall correctly, it's been over 21 years since we all started chatting on TOH as the Rocking Grannies. I remember sharing the happy news that I was going to be a granny. That baby will be turning 22 in January. I had the actual date on my granny quilt but it didn't make it through the fire. I can see the quilt in my mind as clear as day but not the year.
This morning I called Bobbi to make a haircut appointment. When she called me back, she had just gotten a cancellation so I can go in this afternoon. Wow, I wish I had good luck like that in everything, LOL. I'm such a dreamer.

Mamma...I, too, have arthritis in my hands, ankles, shoulders, neck, wrists...you name it, I've got it there...LOL I just keep on going as best I can. Playing with Penny the other day, she wanted me to chase her...LOL LOL...I don't run well anymore. That evening my ankles and legs were hurting so bad. I sure wish I was a younger grandma but that wasn't to be...so I have to do what I can. Glad you got in to the salon for a haircut so quick. I'm not happy with my cut and color last week...but nothing I can do now. She cut it way too short. I've been working on getting the layers longer and she cut them all off. I feel like I have a boy cut now. And the color is dark and I don't look like me..LOL Hoping I can wash some of that color out and let my lighter color start coming through. I might be cancelling the Dec cut appt as it won't have grown out enough to cut anything. Hard to think Patrick is going to be 22.

Good afternoon to all--we are home! Mike's surgery went well, he has several weeks of healing, but the doctor was pleased. He did discover some significant infection so he prescribed a week's worth of a high powered antibiotic and, oh my, if you read the several papers that came along with it, you would see why he was reluctant to take it. But, he did, and we hope it works. We have some extra equipment attached to him to deal with for the next few days, but hopefully he can have that remedied when he sees the doctor on Thursday. We appreciate your prayers!

Good Afternoon Ladies - - - It's been a rather long day for me so far. I was up before 8 and that almost never happens, unless I have somewhere to go. I thought of rolling over and going back to sleep, but then I thought it would probably be really late when I got up, so I just got out of bed. I didn't have any internet until my neighbor came over today - just as I was going to get up and go to bed last night, I lost it and I thought I hit the switch on the power strip, but I can't get under my desk to fix it - well, maybe I could, but if I did, I would never be able to get up. I also had her look under the bed in the spare room for the stone I want for the silent auction item. Wasn't there, so more digging in the closet and I already have a mess there, so may as well finish. I did get some other things done this morning since I wasn't distracted to come here. I didn't come here right away when the Grannies started, since I didn't feel I belonged not being a Grandmother. I do know that Lily and I had been posting back and forth for some time when DH died on 11-17-01. I didn't go to the first meet in Red Wing either, as I had vacation planned at that time. Which also reminds me, Mamma, could you send me the updated addresses again - awhile back I accidently deleated all of my emails? Thanks Since my day is so mixed up and I still have things to do - I am going to wave at everyone, but Just Me, I also thought that the butterscotch pudding would be a good change off - I also have never heard of caramel pudding. I know there would be a difference, but I think it would still taste good. As for your M&M cookies - if you don't find the mint ones, could you add mint flavoring to the dough and use regular M&M's? Hope all goes well for Sue.
