This is DD#1 and Grammy asked me to give you ladies an update.
On Monday she fell (3rd fall since Sept. 13) and this time could not get up with our help, we had to call the squad. They were able to get her off the floor and assess her and it did not appear that she had any serious injury, a couple bumps on her head and soreness in her right hip where she took the brunt of the impact. She was not willing to go to the hospital to get checked out, so we agreed to stay home. However, she remained very sore and in fact her pain increased over the next two days she was only barely able to stand and shuffle with the walker and my assistance to turn and sit on the bedside potty. More pain each attempt, so when her home health physical therapist came yesterday, she was quite sure we needed to go get checked out and mom reluctantly agreed. The squad graciously transported her to the hospital where they found she has three hairline pelvis fractures, but fortunately they had not displaced and there was no internal bleeding (a big concern due to her blood thinners). She will not need surgery, she must lay still for a couple days at the hospital for the bones to begin to knit together, then therapy will assess how well she is able to stand and move her feet. She will need a month of limited mobility and rehab, we will see if that can be done at home or if she will need a short-term stay at a rehab facility.
She is of course discouraged by this turn of events, but by the time I left about 10 PM she was accepting of what needs to happen to get better.
Meanwhile, my daughter and I are hosting a fundraiser tonight for a friend who runs an orphanage in Haiti, a critical situation and "the show must go on", so all prayers appreciated as we make final  preparations today and squeeze in hospital visits.
