Porch time for Mandy this morning before it gets too hot out there. She didn't get to be with Mary and Emily because the bag lady and her pit-bull were in the other side of the pet area. I didn't want to be a part of what could have been a battle of the wills. Mandy is intimidated by larger dogs unless they seem aggressive to her. So we didn't stop but went to the little pet area. Plus I can't stand the cigarette smoke from the bag lady. She never is without one hanging out of her mouth. No sense being there if I have other options.
This morning I will top off the gas tank and get change to pay for parking tomorrow. I also need to put a couple zip ties on the outside lights. After awhile the sun burns them to a crisp (if they are the white ones). Then I'll see what the freezer has to offer for supper tonight. That is pretty much all that is on the agenda for today.
Enjoy your day.

'Morning all! We had some rain this morning, a nice gentle short blow over, so I don't think I need to water, yay! It's sunny and pretty now with a slight breeze.
So yesterday....got ready for H Center meeting and headed out, even got there early. Also, shortest agenda yet-so the person who complained about "things get on the agenda and never come off" when I was on the last meeting via phone and didn't say it to my face-take that and deal with it! Or, as was suggested by someone else, do something to get those items off of the agenda---perhaps finish the task? Meeting got done (short one too), chatted with my aunt to get some genealogy questions answered, didn't get together with my brother or sister but headed to the farm. I was getting lunch together for Al when my nephew and his kids came out to replace the TV and my niece asked if there were to be cows "on the road?" Road or driveway or lawn? None of those were really acceptable answers. Well, long story short a tree went down on a fence and a couple ol' cows took their calves for a stroll, aerating the yard and fertilizing it too. I ran to check the road-no cows-good, the down hill run wasn't as rough as the uphill one. In sandals and panting like a fluffy ol' girl myself, I'm sure it was a vision. One calf got into a pen she shouldn't have been, so I got that gate open and got her finally to another place. And, another gate was closed, so off to that one. I told them I don't think I have a pair of sandals that have NOT been in a pasture, pen, or paddock or barn. Several phone calls were made to people who know more about fencing than me and it did get fixed yesterday, after yet another jail break. All cows and calves are safe and accounted for, none on the road or harassing travelers, yard further poofed and poo-ed by bovines, and my knees have been iced and are silently screaming at me. Al was planning to go back to check the fence-uneven ground with additional cow land mines in there, nope! He didn't fight me on it when I told him to stay and talk to nephew and I'd do it. Needless to say, I found the burdock and thistles and stinging nettles. Did I mention the tv did not fit in the entertainment center spot? I know there is a smaller tv here, I need to find it! Lunch did get finished and served, when I left I went out through the hayfield to check for escape artists and their cute calves-none to be found, but they did leave "evidence," if you know what I mean.
My farming escapades left me late for book club with an aunt and her friends. When we were almost done, the Yeti and his uncle showed up so we had supper with them. They go off to some adventure every summer, to check out an old abandoned town or homestead or something. Last night was an old veteran's cemetery. The Kravitz girls were happy to see me and I worked on some more snarls and stuff in the never-ending fur fiascos. I get them all beautified and they jump in the lake. That's fine, they like it, it's great to spend the time with them. Nim especially likes the soft side of the brush on her face and ears, the Nugget is getting better with it. Many woofer kisses, just worry about what they just "ate" sometimes. I need to get something in the oven for my other book club today, I think they are just getting brownies, too tired to be creative. "Someone's" c-pap mask was not fitting right last night, sounded like a very airy Darth Vader, so I got up and made coffee and iced the knee caps. Have a good day everyone, blessed be!

Good morning mama and all to come. It is really chilly this morning 57. I have vacuumed the living room and am drinking coffee. I am going to bake a cake just to have it in the freezer. It is the grandmothers cooky crust pound cake and freezes well. Don't have any trips planned until next week. I was so tired yesterday after running my errands. You all have a good day BBL

Good morning to all. The heat and humidity are creeping in here in central MO. We are to make it to 90 today. I have had my walk, watered all my flowers (wondering why I planted so many sometimes) and pulled weeds and I was "glistening"! Back in the AC for a bit now catching up here at the computer. I have chair yoga at 11:30 and usually go early enough to do a bit on the elliptical. Need to finish dusting; I started yesterday afternoon, but didn't get the living room done. Mike is in Jefferson City finishing up (hopefully) a welding project for a Sunday School class member which has turned out to be a much less easy project than he or his friend anticipated.
Mike has been offered the job with the MO Highway Patrol and has accepted it, pending their background investigation of him. Seeing as he is such a shady character, that may prove to be a deal breaker--LOL. They have a small team of retirees who work there on a part-time basis and he said it seemed a really good fit and he really liked the atmosphere and the folks. He didn't even ask what it paid, but when HR called him shortly after his interview, he was pleasantly surprised. Certainly not what he made on the pipeline, but significantly more than some of the positions he had thought about pursuing. So, he should be going to work for about 20 hours a week in a couple of weeks. Right now, I am going to stay home as we have committed to several days this month and next of watching grandchildren once summer school is out.
Laurie, what a day you and your sandals had! I consider you a full-fledged fellow country gal now! LOL
Carolyn, that's an interesting sounding poundcake. Please tell me more!
Good morning, Mama and Mandy.
Wishing all a good day, better get to the dusting before time to leave for the gym.

Good Morning Ladies - - - It's a nice morning at 72 already and sunny. Maybe storms later this afternoon and evening. Time will tell on that I guess. Last night about 7:30, the phone rang and it was the bathroom guy - he wondered if he could come down and look at what we were dealing with - - sure - - - He ended up changing new bulbs in, as far as I had replacements, one short, and they worked just fine. He said sometimes when you put new ones in when they are on or hot, they will burn right out. Anyway, seemed to fix it for now, so will just wait and see what happens -- No charge - imagine that. I felt kind of dumb, calling him to change a burned out bulb, but I was afraid they would all go if I did that. I will just wait and see how it goes now. I don't think I told you that about 5 on Mon.. night, the phone rang and it was SIL - wondering if I had supper yet. It was their 64 anniversary, and they thought they would come up and we could go have a sandwich or something. Ended up going for Mexican. They have both failed - especially him. He had the covid so hard and was in the hosp. and rehab for so long and it took it's toll. They are not the same peppy couple they were. I guess at 85 and 86 you don't have to be a ball of energy! About 5, I walked out to the mail box and got that and bring the recycling container back in and was just taking the mail out of the box when the sheriff who lives across the street came home. He was right over and wanted to push it back up for me, but I said I would take it, as it gave me something to hang on too. It's going down to the curb that bothers me. I thought it was so nice of him to come over to help - I could have waited and just asked him to do it, if I knew he was coming then. I miss my other neighbors while they are gone this week. I had a pretty full day for me, with the funeral - more walking than I am use to. Mamma, good luck tomorrow - I hope you will be up to the drive home again.. That's not always the case after dental work. It's probably to hot for Mandy's porch time now. Laurie - every trip, every day, turns into a story for you! You really need to write a booK!! Always good that you can be there to help AL out and I know he appreciates it all! Carolyn, sounds like an interesting cake - one I have not heard of, at least by that name, and it's always nice to have something to pull out of the freezer when needed. I have a load of laundry in the dryer, the Culligan guy has been here, and the paper will be here this afternoon - - That's about all for my day - well, I do need to make something for supper and no idea what that will be at the moment! Tomorrow, I go out with the HS friends.

Carolyn-thanks for letting me know about your Carpal Tunnel experience, I meant to say something earlier. I'm leaning hard towards it, canning season will be a deal breaker I do think. Would you please share your cake recipe? Congrats to Mike on the job! I had a couple of boxes of Suddenly Salad in the cupboard-ranch flavored. I made both of them, jazzed up the dressing and added a few other things. It seems a bit salty yet, I did add some sugar too. Chicken would've been good, but none here, the salad is "ok" but I doubt I'd buy the box on purpose. I wonder where they came from? I see there are two Italian ones too. I make one that is kind of a refrigerator cleaning one-can add a bit of this and that and pretty soon you have enough for a week, so I'll just make the boxes the next time and add them to the other stuff. The Yeti has been working outside and if I sat for a bit longer I'd be done with this afghan, but need to do a few other things first. A nap would be lovely too though. Anyhoos, the dishwasher is earning its keep more than me right now and the brownies are made, that's what I'm taking and that's my story that I'll stick to.
