Anyone else in the GN having trouble sleeping? No, just me? OK, I'll just ramble on anyway.
Busy day yesterday, starting off with a 7:30 a.m. appointment for Mike in Columbia at our world-class orthopedic group there. After x-rays, turns out he has significant arthritis in the knee that has been giving him so much trouble that he can't sleep in bed. So, one shot in the knee later, we are on our way. Go back in 3 months, where a lubricant shot can be tried if this doesn't help. But, steroid shot has to be tried first, per insurance.
Got a bite of breakfast and then on to my annual heart doctor checkup, also in Columbia. Everything was good, rate was a little fast, but then that's just the way I roll.
Then I wrangled myself into an appointment with my primary doctor who is in the same building with my heart doctor, just different floors. They were able to work me in as I was still miserable from whatever allergy/cold/crud I was dealing with. Turns out it is a combination of several things and I walked away with two prescriptions, one for an antibiotic and one for a regimen of steroids. I think those steroids are what are keeping me up right now. It said on the insert to take as early in the day as possible to avoid insomnia, but I went ahead and took the first dose early affternoon yesterday. But, I do feel better and certainly more energetic.
Then, it was back to Mike's mom's house for a bit more gathering up. home for a very late, light lunch, then I rested and Mike went back to his Mom's to meet his brother and have him look at everything that must be done before the 31st. When I got up from my rest, I tackled putting away things we've been bringing back for the last couple of days and made a dent in that and then drove in to pick up Mike and we went to Amelia's 7:45 basketball game. Trinity had cheer camp yesterday (which was her 9th birthday--thank you all so very much for the birthday wishes for her) and then cheered at a girls' basketball game last night, but we just couldn't be in both places last night.
Back home where I did the dishes in the sink, puttered and went to bed for a bit, but now, here I am, talking to all of you while you, hopefully, get some well-deserved sleep. I did see I had an email from Annie, my French penpal, thanking me for their gifts. I need to do the same as I received hers early this week, but haven't had time to translate her handwritten note (she writes with such beautiful, but flowery penmanship that I have trouble reading it) but I have sampled the candy she sent and have a couple of other goodies to sample. Those appear to be jarred cakes soaked in alcohol which I am sure are a gourmet treat, but not sure I will be able to do other than a very slight nibble as I can't have alcohol with my heart condition. But, others in my family will be able to enjoy it, I am confident. I also got a lovely pair of earrings and Mike was thrilled to receive many pieces of D-Day memorabilia from the beaches of Normandy.
Well, maybe I should try to get a little sleep. Mike just got up and went to the couch and asked me if I was babysitting the computer? His knee is bothering him a bit and the doctor said he would need to ice it after the big shot, which he hasn't had time to do, so I got him settled with an ice pack wrapped in a towel and I do hear him lightly snoring so maybe he is getting some sleep and I should try to do the same.
Love to all...
