Good Morning....
Happy Birthday Lauriet...have a wonderful day.
Kinda gray out there. Not doing anything yet, but by noon or so the snow is supposed to start and then rain then back to snow.
We have the kids today....so we'll be watching the weather as to when we will take them back home. Don't want to be out in the mess with them in the car if we can help it.
The other day I found some paper dolls at Dollar Tree. So I got them. The doll is very heavy cardboard and the clothes are a thicker paper...so they seem much better than I anticipated. Not sure it will hold Penny's attention for long but it is something new here....LOL We'll see. It's a Barbie paper doll. I remember getting them as a kid and sitting and punching out all the clothes from the booklet they came in. I could spend hours, with my friend, playing with them.
Lauriet...hoping everything went well for Al.
Not much else happening yet. Have a great day.

Oh dear oh dear, it's only 34º out there this morning. I'm so very happy that Mandy was quick. We were dressed as warmly as possible too. I don't have my MN cold weather apparel anymore. I so didn't want to go out this morning.
Some time today Jill and I are going to Fry's. Me to pick up the butter that is on sale and she always shops there. No wonder she is always short money. Unless it's on sale, I can't afford to shop there. She is particular too, and will spend $6 on a dozen eggs because they are free range. LOL But doesn't have enough money for her bills. I love her anyway. It's her money and her life. The other day she asked me if there was a difference, I told her "yes, the price". I don't believe labeling. hehehe
Our son and DIL will be coming home today from their cruise. Rude awakening for them with the temps in the single digits compared to what they were in the Bahama's. Plus the snow storms all over. I hope they make it home safely. Lincoln kept in touch with me every day and today sent me even more pictures. What a sweetie.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURIE!!!!!

It's snowing now but it's predicted to turn to rain/snow later. I think the cold is to be our big thing. I'm no sure how much snow is predicted but I don't have plans to go out anyway. I've been on the phone already. You know, the ones that take forever and wait to be called back. Actually the first one went well and faster than I thought it was. The second one, I'm waiting on the call back. I have laundry and cleaning to do today. The kids might be coming tonight, depending on the weather. I don't think it's supposed to get bad until later this afternoon or early evening.
GREENBACK I hope you'll be safe and able to stay inside. No loss of electricity, etc.
CJ I didn't know they still had paper dolls. But I don't have little ones anymore so I guess I wouldn't know. Does Penny like dolls? My girls never really liked them. They did play with their Barbies though. For me, the doll was the thing I looked forward to.
MAMMA Good Mandy!!! I'm sure she was wearing her sweater. Enjoy the time out and about with Jill. We all have our difference but that's what friendship is about, we accept our differences. Stay warm and safe.
Thinking of GRAMMY and hope she's feeling much better, less pain and the Son is shining in her window!!

Goodmorning grannies, it's a cold nasty morning with rain and wind.So many others are getting snow but none in the picture here. Wind then cold for the next week. Wouldn't this be a great time to get the bus out and head for a warmer place. What a fun time that was.
CJ I loved paper dolls and had them a few yrs beyond the usual age for giving up such things. I bought some for my dgd's and they were not too interested in them. They wanted a Barbie, that shouldn't have been a surprise with TV and all the commercial time devoted to toys.
Mamma wow that sounds cold hope you kept enough warm things for these mornings. Enjoy the time out today. We usually stock up on butter when there is a sale for us that means 8 or 10 pounds!
Not doing much today the arm is a little better but still hurts
Breakfast was delivered and maybe lunch will arrive soon!

Grammy, we lost all our warm MN winter clothes in the fire. So I don't have very warm things anymore. But I'm not out that long anymore either. By the time I have to go anywhere it's warmer than in the morning.
Lincoln and Maria are now back in the US, Florida to be exact. He said he would never live in Miami or anywhere in Florida for no amount of money. He, like me, hates the humidity and too many people. And I whole heartily agree with him. We never wanted to go there and we never did. He is so anxious to head home tomorrow even though it will be in the single digits. There's no place like home.
Elle, yep, Mandy had on her warm sweater. She won't let me take it off right away either.
Jill and I made it through Fry's. I hate shopping there and going on a Friday and in the winter it is horrible. Way too many people and shelves can't stay stocked. I did manage to find one package of pork steak and my butter. I was so glad to leave. If butter had not been on sale and I was almost out, no way would I have gone in there. Nope, not even for Jill. I've repackaged the pork steak and can get 8 meals out of it. It was $20 for the whole package. I don't eat much meat. LOL
The sheets are now in the dryer, I left them in the washer when I left for the store. And I've turned the mattress. I hated to bother Jill, she has a long to do list. And turning the mattress went pretty good considering the bedroom is the size of a closet. The only room that has any room at all is the craft room. The rest are so very small. Thank God I go into this room for some space to turn around. hehehehe
Looks to me like it's time for brunch. I'm thinking soup and an english muffin with peanut butter and butter. The wild rice soup was so good yesterday, it should be even better today. Pork steak and fresh squash with butter and brown sugar for supper. Nothing low calorie today. LOL

Good Morning Ladies - - - I started this awhile ago, but only got as far as opening it up and the phone rang before I typed one word. It's 21 and light snow, but it is mounting up as it has been coming down since before I was awake. Every place is either closed or closing. I just hope that we won't loose power. The mail came at 10:30 and it is usually after lunch when it comes. Some places have already announced that they will be closed tomorrow. I think that's okay and if they are open, it just encourages people to see where all they can get and make it harder for those that really do have to get to work or another emergency.
Laurie - wishing you a good day and hope its a Happy Birthday for you, even though it will be different than most. Hopefully you will have some special messages - not sure about the snow there, and wondering if #1 made it north. Enjoy however you can.

Well, this was acting a little strange for me, so I was going to post before I lost it and then continue on, but in the mean time I saw more posts, so took the time to read them also. CJ, keep a good eye on the roads and get the kids home early if necessary - Don't want you and Mark on the roads if they are bad. I haven't thought of paper dolls in a long time - remember the hard plastic circles that the doll could stand in? I also remember how frustrating it was when one of the little tabs that held the clothes on the doll would tear. Been years since I have seen them. Mamma, glad you got your running done and can stay in where it is warm. I always add to my supply of butter when it is on sale, but then I don't use as much as you do - since I don't bake often. I only use butter or oil when I do bake. Ellie, your morning is going about as fast as mine - phone calls can take up a lot of time, but does keep us connected in the world - - especially now when getting out isn't ideal. Hope you kids are able to come tonight. Grammy, glad you are resting your arm and that the delievery service is working for you to stay put. I think that the weather is less than desirable where ever we are now, even though it's not all the same. Well, it's noon now, so better get a move on!

Good afternoon to all. Wet and blustery and COLD here and getting colder. Of course, this is the day we are heading north! We are still planning to go. DSIL is driving DD#1, Trinity, and me. We hope to get about halfway tonight and then the rest of the way to Bloomington, MN, tomorrow. Mike is not very happy and said he is prepared to come and get us when we call. I hope we don't have to. It would indeed be a good time to stay home, but the weather forecast is so often wrong these days, not sure what to believe. I just know it is windy and cold out there now and we will be driving toward it, not away from it!
Grammy, so sorry to hear that your arm is still giving you pain! Bless you, my friend, and prayers that your arm feels much better soon!
A very happy birthday to our sweet Laurie! May your day and the year to come be blessed!
We had a busy and long day at DMIL's yesterday and still have a lot left to do and January 31 will be here before we know it. You really never know about a person until something like this happens. We made a trip back there this morning after I dropped off a banana sheet cake for a funeral dinner at church. We got all the accoutrements to the sewing machine that DD#2 is getting. It is a very nice machine, does much more than I would know how to do and we are just storing everything for Meg until she gets a "big girl house" as she calls it. Their barns and outbuildings are big, but their house is tiny. She said she knew she would regret not having taken the machine in the years to come. We had a time loading and unloading the cabinet and all the things that we had in the backseat of the truck cab. Wind kept blowing the truck doors shut and all the sidewalks and even the rocks in our driveway are slick.
Time to button things up for the trip north. We are to meet Trinity after school and leave then. Prayers for travel mercies would be much appreciated! Love to all, stay warm and safe.

Debbie, I seriously think you should reconsider heading out in this storm. Travel is not recommended in Iowa and even I80 is telling people to stay off of the roads. I know it's a fun trip, and will be a disappointment to all of you if you don't get to go, but if something would happen, you wouldn't want to deal with the issues that would result. Please think it over again.
1:30 - Debbie - the tow ban's are starting to show up now and it is blizzard conditions from 3:00 until midnight right now. You had better pack extra clothes and blankets if you get stuck on a road, they won't come get you in a tow ban. you better pack food and water also, as everything is closing.

Debbie, they are pulling the plows off of the roads in most places now too. It is bad here but even worse south of us, so you will be in it the whole way.

Thank you, Jane. I have told DD I am not going and that they shouldn’t either. If they do venture out, we will keep the boys. DSIL is just getting out of class at the college where he teaches and I assume they will make their decision soon. I will certainly share the information you have provided with him and DD!

I am so glad to hear that you are not going to go and I pray that the family will not either. It is not fair to expect someone to risk their life if you are in dire need when the warnings have been so clear. It would be different if it were an emergency, but I am sure everyone would enjoy this trip at a later date when it would be a joy to be out and enjoying the weather on the way. It will be a long trip tonight.

Snow, windy and 33* now. DD got off work early and is safely home. PTL! I had to call DD #3 to help me change the water filter in the frig. So thankful they're close to me. Then they told me DGD (their DD) her DH and friends are heading out for Columbus, about 21/2-3 hr. drive S of me. I'm praying they don't go but I think the weather S is much better than mine. Am I right GRAMMY? It's supposed to turn to rain then back to snow and very frigid temps!
DEBBIE Thank you so much for the decision you have made!!And I pray your family will make the wise decision for them too.
Be safe everyone!!!

Debbie sounds like a wise decision to stay home as the it could be dangerous driving in a blizzard!I
