Good Morning....
Another dreary start to the day. The weather person said we might see some sun later today. I won't count on it.
The deer that's been coming every evening was here again last night. He kept hitting the bird feeders to knock out the seed. He has a limp and you can see swelling around the lower part of his leg. He has one antler and the other is laying sideways on his head.
Icook...my rubbermaid kitchen trash can doesn't owe me anything. It has lots of scratches on it from one of the cats that used to scratch on it. I guess it has character...LOL We are liking our new one. Funny how a trash can, can bring so much excitement...LOL LOL
Mamma...hope you start feeling better. Talk to the pharmacist about the med prescribed. They can tell you if it's okay short term to try out.
Coffee is ready.....Have a great day.......

Oh dear, 40ยบ is way too cold for me. I'm so happy that Mandy was quick this morning and got all her duties done too. This morning I have less pain, and I took my two Naproxin right away this morning. I'll be doing the heat and cold thing again today too. I've called the pharmacy to cancel the prescriptions but I am still getting calls to pick them up.
CJ, I felt bad for that deer in your yard. He must have had a rough and tumble NYE!!! I hope your new trash can lasts a long time too.
Yesterday I called the furniture store telling them that my mattress has lost its support and had gotten too squishy. They will give me 50% off of a new one, if I come in before the 12th. So this afternoon or tomorrow I'm going to see what they have. I want absolutely NO type of pillow top on the mattress at all and NO memory foam. Not even an inch. I know, good luck with that. I'm no light weight, I need a firm mattress.
After I drop Mandy off at the groomers I will start a load of laundry and a load of towels. That will be it for the day. I won't over tax any part of me today.

Guess what....the sun is shining and it looks great!
I'm making a quiche for supper and wondered what kind of cheese you use in yours? This particular recipe says Grueyere. So I'm off to find that or one that is comparable.

I am up and about a little better than yesterday. My knee hurts, I have an appt, the 25th. It is cold but the sun is shining. I had cabbage, kale and an apple for breakfast. I am going to bake chicken legs for supper. My Grandson here is doing a low carb diet. He is good about sticking with it. Hope all of you are well. Be back .

Christina had to go to the ER yesterday She does have a pinched nerve. She's seeing a neurosurgeon this afternoon. ER mentioned physical therapy. I had a pinched nerve years ago & I had to get therapy.
Carolyn Glad your knee is better. I could have Earl buried at Arlington as he was awarded the Bronze Star. We bought plots years ago. Earl & his son were cremated. When I die they both come with me.
CJ No sun here either. That seems to be the norm here lately Definitely getting the white stuff. Last I heard was around 5" Weather man one model said 9" Is your new garbage can a brand name? I use a lot of cheddar or parm. cheese in my dishes.
Mamma I'm doing a load of laundry today & doing some floors I'm on my own for right now till Christina gets better.

Good morning to all. It is sunny and chilly here, but with no wind, feels warmer than yesterday. My walk is done, and I have done some things for DMIL's estate for Mike. He is now out cutting scrub cedars out of our field. He finally relented and let me call the Columbia Orthopedic Group to get an appointment for him to get his knee looked at. I am waiting for them to call me back with an appointment date.
Carolyn, a sincere thank you to you and your family for the service and sacrifice your grandson provided for all of us. Bless you all on this day of remembrance.
CJ, I use whatever cheese I have on hand for any quiche I make. Swiss is my favorite, but I have used cheddar, colby jack, Havarti, etc. I think Gruyere is often called for because it melts so well. I have found the key to my quiche success is to use cream. I have tried to skimp and use just milk or half and half or even evaporated milk (which is the closest substitute for cream that I have found), but cream is what really makes it fluffy and meld together.
IC Cook, they are mentioning the possibility of accumulating snow here for early next week. I will believe it when I see it; we haven't had measurable snow in several years. Poor Christina!
Mama, have you ever tried putting a sheet of plywood between your mattress and box springs? My mother had terrible back problems (degenerative arthritis, five back surgeries, two fusions) and, while she, too, always wanted a firm mattress, it was never quite right until she added the plywood under the mattress. She swore by it.
We cleaned out DMIL's fridge and some of her food storage yesterday and I have some apples I need to use up, so I am going to make up a small batch of applesauce since Mike loves homemade applesauce so much. And, we have enough dessert in the house that I don't need to make anything else sweet right now. Then, I need to clean bathrooms. No ballgames this week has been nice!
Forgive me for posting pictures here that most of you have seen on Facebook, but I know GrammyOH and perhaps others don't have Facebook and I wanted to share pictures of my beloved family here.

I finally made it here. I have an ouchy that has turned into a beg hurting!! About a week ago I turned over in bed and felt a very slight pain in my right shoulder area. Instead of getting better it is a big hurt today. So I've spent the morning sitting with the heating pad hoping that will help. I even asked for room service for my lunch! I need this arm to get up from a chair! Bathroom is quite a struggle!! Hope I never break an arm, I won't be able to walk!
Debbie what beautiful family you have!!! When did they all get so old. Eli is so tall, maybe we could match him with Soraya who is the tallest woman here! All these kids are growing up too quickly.
I don't do facebook because I know I spend too much time at the computer now and that would be just too much. Thanks for posting the pictures here.
Back to the heating pad and book.

Debbie, I don't have a box spring. It's the mattress that has gotten too soft and has a dip on the middle and the middle side. A board would do no good when the mattress itself is too soft. Nice pics thanks for sharing.
Grammy, so sad to hear of your big hurt. I'll be praying for fast healing. Good thing that you have family that can help you.

It's late for me to get here also - - lost internet again last night and I had my neighbor take a look when she brought my mail. She got it going - we are thinking that I hit something a switch on the floor with my foot and it was loose, but not off, so maybe that's why it's been on and off. They have the same provider and haven't had an trouble. I had a Dr. appt. shortly after she was here, so didn't want to come here and be late. Yesterday while I was getting my hair cut, she got a call from her DDIL and said that her little DGD who is head start, and a tragic happening shortly before. There was a teacher that collapse and died. Those head start kids are only 4 or 5 so sad they had to see that happen. I guess the guy that died isn't that old, guessing mid to late 40's, and I have heard twice how the kids just loved him. The ambulance when by the BS with sirens and lights, but I was wondering if her was gone, why the major hurry. So sad, then there was a shooting in an Iowa school today where a 6th grader died and 5 others shot, 4 kids and an administrater according the news and then the 17 year old took his own life. How sad. I came home from the Dr. with a 24 hour heart monitor. My pause is high and BP low but didn't realize I was having an issues. After trying a med. the numbers haven't changed much, so she said some people just have a high rate, but she wanted to check this out for 24 hours just to be sure there isn't something going on. The med I have been on for about 6 weeks now makes me so tired. I don't like that, but she feels it's a good heart med and doesn't want me to stop it. SHe also ordered a blood draw to rule out some other things. Now I take the monitor back tomorrow and see her again in 3 weeks when she will have the results back. Carolyn, my heart goes out to you today - such a sacrifice your dear GS made, along with all of your family. Hugs as you remember him, especially on this difficult day. Mamma, I agree with Deb on the board in your bed - we needed to do that with Daren while he was growing so fast. It is certainly be worth a try. CJ, don't you wonder what the deer got into that left him in that condition? Maybe a battle of the bucks? Grammy, sorry that you are having those issues. My shoulder has been bothering so much and I got a gel to apply, but then I was leary of using it after I read the box. I took it with me and she said by all means to try it and it is a good choice to fight Arthur! I will give it a try and hope it helps. IC, poor Christina - it seems like it is just one thing after another for her. Debbie, glad you got Mike talked into letting you make the appointment and hope you are able to find some answers also. You seem to be making progress with DMIL's affairs. Well, I'm hungry - I'm going to throw a pizza in the oven and give the chili a break.

Jane, I had/have a high heart rate, although it has been better lately. I know the med I take can make you tired and it also makes your metabolism slower so it is hard to lose weight! I take Sotalol. I'd like to know the name of that arthritis gel, please! I am glad you only have to do the heart monitor for 24-hours. I had to do one for 30 days and that was not easy. Glad you got your internet back and hope the problem was the loose connection. Enjoy your pizza! We had hamburgers, homemade mac and cheese, the applesauce I made this afternoon and green beans leftover from last night.
Mama, does your mattress just sit on the frame? Wondering if you couldn't still put a piece of plywood under your mattress to firm up the foundation.
Good night, all.

Debbie, I have a power lift bed, so no board can go on the bed. Which is a good full solid base. A board for a queen mattress would be very expensive and won't work on a bed with an innerspring mattress. A board will do nothing for the mattress top being too soft and flattened, the inner spring is good. The mattress itself is not sagging just the shoddy material such as memory foam and the like, in which they are made. That stuff packs down. Memory foam is good if you want a soft pliable mattress or whatever. I do not want or need soft. That is all they use anymore. I won't even use a memory foam pillow, they flatten. Thanks for trying to help.
