Happy New Year to all! And look, I remembered it was 2024.
Nothing 'new' to report so off to fix breakfast and get dressed.

Good Morning....
Another dreary day but still no snow. That's a good thing.
We had a great time with our friends last night. We got home around 11. We were all yawning...LOL...so thought it was a good time to leave. DH went to bed right away but I stayed up and welcomed the new year in. I texted with my Colorado kids and then went to bed. We'll be taking our friends to the airport on the 10th when they fly back to AZ for the rest of the winter. We may go out in February for a visit. Not sure yet, as we have to see how DMIL is doing.
Today will be taking down of the Christmas stuff and putting away for another year. I'm always glad to have my house back in order. I noticed in Walmart yesterday that the Valentine stuff is out. Once we hit mid February, I know spring is right around the corner. Although spring can really stretch on and on before it really warms up. That's about the time we will probably start getting snow.
Any food traditions with any of you for the New Year? I don't have any, but when I was a kid my grandma always said we had to eat black eyed peas. I would eat one and that was it. After my grandma was gone, my dad continued that tradition. He liked them...not me.
Have a great day everyone.....

Dark and dreary when Mandy and I went out at 7:15, still no sunshine at 8 either. The 50º felt colder than the 44º yesterday too. Mary's two and Mandy wasted no time getting things done this morning either. After Mandy got her treat she headed straight for the bed with her new blankie. I didn't have to share my robe last night, but I sure did miss the snuggle time.
No plans today other than the normal daily stuff, like dishes, Mandy and watch tv. Tomorrow morning the guys come to flush the hot water heater, and Thursday Mandy goes to the groomer. Not much scheduled for the week.
CJ, I noticed the other day that the $tree had started putting up Valentine things too. I'm sure most places are doing the same. I was up at midnight.....got out of bed to use the bathroom. LOL I never heard of the black eye pea tradition until the grannies mentioned it years ago. I wouldn't touch it, not one pea!!!!
Wanda, thanks for opening this morning. Have a nice day.

Good morning grannies, a new year? Then why does it look just like the old one! The only thing different is a little bit of white instead of just wet. Temp is 33 and only going up a little more. We are to see a little sunshine tomorrow.
I was among the early to bed group. I did make it to 10 but had some doubts about that since I didn't sleep well the night before.
DD took the lights off the tree and dismantled the tree, put it in the box then, with some help, everything went to the garage to wait it's turn to return to the shelf. so glad all the Christmas things are ready to be put in their proper place till next year!
Justme glad to see you drop in come back anytime you can. Happy New Year!
No food traditions here just the usual things. Picky kids and some are the big kids! We always went to out friends house for Ruben sandwiches.I would love one today anyone making them please save one for me. I see hamburgers and sweet potato fries on the menu for tonight. Guess I'll have some of those instead.

Grammy, it's been a long time since I've had a Rueben sandwich. There is one place down here that really makes a great one but I can't remember how to get there. They make a good Rachel too. I wish I could send you one. I think it will be clam chowder for lunch today. No traditions for New Years other than a nap. LOL

Happy New Year. I am up and ready to go eat with yet another grandson. I have 3 here and a grand daughter and 9 greats. Hope all of you are well. I am cooking cabbage n black eyed peas fit supper. As for the tradition of black eyed peas there Is a story behind it. Called hoppin John. You can find it on the internet. I sure got a lot of nice presents. More than I could ever deserve, but so thankful for my Wonderful family. Did I say I miss Elijah the newest great? He turned 9 months old yesterday and standing up holding to something. I will hush. The kids should be here soon. 🌺

Happy New Year Ladies - - I send my good wishes for a happy and healthy year ahead for all of us. It's 25 and a gloomy cloudy day. Hopefully, the sun will come out, but didn't get any news yesterday. Even the 10:00 PM news didn't happen. Seems to me they could take a little break on at least one station, but what do I know? My friend brought the pizza and wine. We went right at the pizza, but I sent the wine back home with her. We didn't drink it and she wanted to leave it here for another time, but I insisted she take it home as I said she might want it at some time. It was a bottle she got on a trip to SC and I know it was special to her. She went home about 8:15. I was up until midnight, but not necessary to see the new year in - I often am up that late, or at least in bed reading. I didn't read long last night, though. CJ, sounds like a nice evening with your friends and maybe a nice winter break for you later. Mamma, so how did the new blanket work out during the night. I would think that with it's heat, there would be no need for another blanket. Jen sent me some pictures of Dawson in his new bedding. His Hawkeye comforter and yellow sheets - he looked nice and comfortable. She said they were doing okay - it was 60 in the house. I sure hope the new furnace comes tomorrow, but will see. Grammy, nice to get the house back in order - I packed up the things that needed to go in the tote and the other stuff that will go down will happen when my cleaning couple come on Thur. I thought I may as well leave them where they are as to just put in a pile. Carolyn, how fun for you to spend some time with these grands and greats. I know you miss your little guy, but I'm happy that you can share your times with these kids too! Enjoy. Nothing special here to eat for NY's. I am hungry for chili, so if I make something, that is most likely what it will be.

Jane, this morning I took off the other blanket. The electric blanket was enough and it is really heavy. It's not very well made so we will see how long it lasts. Not much has quality built into it anymore. I do like the fabric used though. You have me so hungry for a pizza that is not a from the freezer kind. Maybe I should drive further and pick up a Pappa Murphy's pizza. I'm too lazy to make my own and not quite sure how to get to Godfathers, which is my favorite. I know I have GPS on my phone, but would rather just know in my head how to get there. I'm also thinking of picking up some deep fried chicken at WM. Food is all I think about lately. Those poor kids with no furnace. I couldn't stay in 60º.Prayers they get the new furnace tomorrow for sure!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Another year of "we don't know." But every year is like that and every year, we are able to welcome in another year. I didn't make it until midnight but I heard fireworks at midnight. Then went back to sleep. I slept so well and it was going on 9:00 when I woke up this a.m. Actually the notification sound on my phone woke me up. There's a lot of messaging going on with my friends/family this a.m. I had egg and toast for breakfast/lunch. LOL
JUSTME Happy new year and many more. Good to have you with us.
CJ The friendship you have with the couple is so special. I hope you'll be able to visit them in Feb. Most of my friends and I have been friends for over 20 years. Been through a lot together. No food traditions here.
MAMMA This is a easy week for me too. It's ok, I'll probably find something to do, or not! LOL Mandy was a good girl this a.m. The day DH died, I had stopped and got us Ruebens for lunch. That changed when I got home, he was gone...and I tossed the Ruebens. Enjoy doing what you want to do today.
GRAMMY Does your family always plan your meals ahead of time? I think it's a great idea. I had done that for a short time in the past but when it came to the day of a particular food, I wasn't in the mood for it and would change the menu. So, I don't do that anymore. But I do think it's a good thing.
GREENBACK You're friends seems like a generous, caring person. Is she a neighbor? What toppings do you like on your pizza? I like the meatlovers.

HAPPY NEW YEAR GRANNIES
I stayed up till midnight & watched the ball drop in Times Square. Tinker hid under the bed as fire works were going off at midnight in two different places. When I woke up this morning she was sleeping on the couch. I stayed in my loungers all weekend.
CJ No sun here today again Haven 't seen it much lately. Calling for the possibility of a winter storm this coming weekend. My first surgery is next week I hope the weather is OK. Glad you enjoyed yourself spending time with your friends. That would be nice if you can visit them next month. Traditions for me are snack food on NYE I have shrimp cocktail, ring bologna, sharp cheese, veggie dip with chips. That was my supper last night. New Year's Day is pork & sauerkraut with mashed potatoes & biscuits. I just put the sauerkraut in my crock pot.
Grammy My tree is still up I'll take everything down this coming weekend. I don't remember ever eating a ruben sandwich.

Hi everyone, I hope you are all having a good start to 2024. We went to the neighbors' for his 70th birthday, wound up leaving after midnight. The guys watched the horrible Vikings game-that was just ugly-and then played cards. We're hanging out today as the Teti is still getting over his cold. Al has a bit of one too now, I talked to him this morning, he's keeping on top of it. This week is getting busy, the Yeti takes his dad to the dr tomorrow, then on Thurs we have the funeral and the Yeti has a colonoscopy, Friday I am going to the cities for the shower, whew, then the next week company is coming in on the 12th for the weekend. I need to look at the next week, as I will need to switch a job to help get ready for the 100th birthday party, one of the sisters hubby just went on hospice and they called and asked me to come down sooner. So, that's my 21 day outlook. Better get back to this afghan, not sure if it'll be done for this weekend or the next shower. Blessed be everyone.

ICOOK I thought of NYC and watching the ball drop. I didn't make it. LOL But I was hoping there wouldn't be any disruptions for it. Enjoy your day! I'm not sure what supper will be, but I'm thinking cereal then indulge in the snacks later.
GRAMMY I tried to get your attention a short time ago, the sun came out and I was inviting you to come and enjoy it. LOL It didn't last long though, we're back to the cloudy mode.
I got the spare room straightened up. It was a mess!! I had so much stuff there with making room for Christmas in other rooms. But it's better now. DD and family are on their way home from MS. It'll be very late tonight when they get home.

Elle, in your shoes I would never be able to eat a Rueben ever again. I picked up a pepperoni pizza when I made a get out of the house run to WM. I needed to walk around but that was short, too many people. So I got my pizza and came home. It reminded me of why I don't shop other than on line anymore.
My back is getting worse. When I get up in the morning I can hardly move and by afternoon it's somewhat better. I borrowed a long level and checked for a "dip" in the bed. I can see it but wanted to make sure it wasn't just my eyes. I'm pretty sure that is the problem. The mattress is not even a year old. The furniture store will have a visitor on Wednesday or a phone call tomorrow. Warranty is for 8 years. I'm not very happy, I hate those darn pillow tops anyway. They don't stay on the firm side, which is what I need. But no other choices anymore.
Mandy and I just got back from out short little walk. Chris and his dog Harley were tootling along and stopped to chat. Haven't seen them in quite some time. Harley is just the sweetest bulldog I've ever seen.
I've got a big bag of garbage to take out but am waiting until a bit later. I'll have to swap the car and cart around to charge the cart over night. So as long as I have to move it I might as well make it a productive move.
