  Good morning friends! It is 33* here and to get to 39* today, this is fabulous. There is a chance for some snow on Christmas Eve, but after looking at the forecast it'll be a mix of mostly rain with some snow flurries. I had a successful shopping day yesterday, I wound up going down town as I needed to go to the only bookstore in town, it's a little independent one that I hope to get back to. Then, stopped at a new little store called the Merry Piglets, I don't remember the back story to the name, but it was a good one. Turns out it is owned by a friend's niece, also a very nice little shop. I wanted to shop local as much as possible~there's been a big push to rejuvenate the old downtown area and they seem to be doing a good job. I think the stores that are closest to the Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox statues get more foot traffic. There was a stop at Aldi's, two other grocery stores, downtown and one at Tj Maxx which was so busy, good for them. I was able to check out at the jewelry line and avoid the big lines. There were so many people who seemed to all be in a good mood at the same time, not bad for the longest day. Maybe up here everyone is excited for more daylight starting??? All in all, for someone who doesn't enjoy shopping any more, a success.
The house is as dolled up as it will get, needing a sweep and a mop and to put the bins in the basement into the store room. I opened a can of Coke and it gave me and the floor a sticky shower. I'll wipe up the bathrooms as needed #1 and Kate got in earlier last night and found out they forgot a tote of stuff at their house. It's gifts for BIL's kids and the kids at the farm, all of whom will not miss a thing. I told them to just bring them another time. When I got home yesterday, the Nugget was laying in the yard happily gnawing on something between her front feet, hmmmmm. It looked like a bit of "snow" around her.....nope, an Amazon package-parts of it. Nim, decided to walk over and drop something at my feet-a package of smoked salt. On my travel to the Nugget who had a very clear "busted" look on her face, I found the wrapper to a tin of oysters and the tin, a jar of pepper jelly, a package of smoked fish, some artisan goat milk soaps, all surrounded by the fluff and stuff of a cardboard box. The Nuggets was chewing the end off of a packet of cocoa mix (she did not get enough chocolate to worry about) and I spilled some while picking it up. They did enjoy a piece of another pack of smoked salmon. Idiot dogs, played the cute card pretty hard yesterday. Today, the Yeti gets to make the previously requested container for Amazon deliveries. I told him to make something cute, look like an old outhouse, so who knows what size could go in it.....
It's flannel day today in Pre-K and I am calling it a Santa Hat Day for me too. Help yourselves to coffee, and any other items you may find scattered across my yard.....blessed be.

Last night I took my stronger sleeping pill in hopes of it working for me to get some much needed sleep. It worked!!! I slept good all night and didn't get up until 7:20. At which time quickly got out of bed and checked the radar. A break in the rain so I got dressed as fast as my old body could move. When we got to the pet area, Mandy was not yet fully awake. So I hope we get another break this afternoon so she can finish her business.
Now I'm enjoying my coffee and Christmas cookies. It's so dark and gloomy and will be that way all day. Kind of puts a damper on an already sketchy mood. But I hope I can keep my smile throughout the day.
Towels in the washer and then the dryer. A quick run through the rooms with the dust mop and that is the end of my to do list for today. If there would be a lengthy break in the rain I would like to go to the 99cent store to see if they have the veggies I would like to make a salad. Jill has off and would like to go too. She has off now but works Christmas Eve. She stopped by to show me her dogs haircut. OMG, so darn cute. Usually Pookie is a dust mop. Groomers are so expensive. We don't like to go often, and Jill really waits it out.
Well I'll just head for another cup of coffee and check my email.

Good morning! Soon will be afternoon. I'll be going over to take care of Mya and then a jaunt to town. When I get home, another batch of raisin filled cookies. That first batch was quite tasty even with the dough throwing a fit with me.
I've got some gifts to wrap too. Playing a game on Christmas day and everyone starts out with a gift. I forget what it is called but we liked it. Play with a dice and then do what the number says ... gift goes to the right, left, gets opened, traded. Etc.
Went to the gyn the other day and followed the snow plow up the mountain. We had nothing here but on the mountain they had about 2 inches with the wind blowing. My car was a horrible mess when I got home. We stopped (Ted went with me) at Dairy Queen. Ted had a turtle blizzard and I had a chocolate dipped strawberry one. Mmmmm!
I'm making a simple stew for supper and I'm really hungry for it. Just venison, potatoes, and noodles cooked in one pot.
I hope I get some books for Christmas. If not, I'll order off my list. I haven't read a book in probably close to a month now. I just keep rereading the ones I have. I still might pick one up while I'm baking those cookies. That way I won't leave the kitchen and forget I'm baking. LOL. It happens!!!!!

Sun is trying to appear. I'm still not feeling well. Christina will be here in about an hour. She's picking up the antibiotic for me I do hope it helps. If I'm not better by Sunday I won't be going to my cousins for Christmas I'll just stay home with Tinker.

Good Afternoon Ladies- - - The morning got away from me - I picked up a grocery order and a few things at KS. The curb side delievery sure does help me out. Got it in the house - I have a load of towels that are done in the dryer, so need to get them out and put away - I put the piece of ham that I bought in the oven so now we can just do whatever, when ever. I have some frozen cinnamon rolls out but they don't seem to be rising to fast - I bought them at TG time, so should still be okay and the date on the bag as 4-24. The kids hope to get on the road by 1:00PM so that's right about now. Hope they can, as they will be most of the way before dark.
Laurie, what a mess you came home to in the yard and then to have some many of the things ruined. Have a good day at school.
Mamma - you and I were on the same schedule, except you got your sleep and I didn't. I don't know why it's so hard for me to fall asleep - then I did a load of towels too. I need to get them out of the dryer, but needed to go after my pickups first.
Wanda - that's the kind of blizzards to have! Your stew sounds interesting but I would want to put some onions in it for sure, and maybe a few other things.
IC, hope you get to feeling better so you can go enjoy the time with your cousin.
Grammy, don't know if you go back and read on yesterdays posts, but please do so if you usually don't.

A busy morning for me.Even when you do nothing sometimes the day gets busy! #2 called and that always means a long chat with her. I have to get all the family news plus this morning the news that her friend since school days will be moving to TX to be near 2 dds and dgk. Happy for her friend but sad to have her move away. Then it was time for Kathy to read aloud to me. Then it was time to wrap the aprons yea they are done.
Laurie the box for Amazon sounds like a good idea and one you certainly could have made use of! Sounds like a nice Christmas shopping time for you to see the small shops and smiling faces.
Mamma glad to you were able to sleep last night.Nothing like waking up after a restful night
Justme a trip to town would't be complete without a stop at DQ I would have to get peppermint ice cream with hot fudge! Sounds like another grannie is ready for Christmas.
IC hope you improve and can spend Christmas with your cousin.
Greenback yes I do read all of the GN news. Thanks for the info but and I need to check with dd. She uses the local small town bank so might have gotten some good info there if she has already been there. Another grannie ready and waiting for family to arrive!! We usually have cinnamon rolls Christmas morning they will be home made ones.

Break time.
After an unexciting lunch of a corn dog, I sat and read my book on Kindle. Then I saw Wanda was making stew and I wanted to make some.  Not having everything to make it I had to come up with something else in the comfort food area. So I made a big pot of chili. Having only two square feet of counter space, put my good mood on the back burner as it usually does.. Grrrrrr, I hate having a small kitchen. Our fifth wheel had more room to work on. Now I know why I don't like to cook anymore. It's not just cooking for one that's no fun it's trying to cook in this kitchen. Of course baking is just as bad, but I like my sweets much more than anything else. LOL
The rain is coming down in buckets. It's so noisy on the roof in the craft room that Mandy won't come back here. She stays curled up in her bed. The sound on the roof is deafening back here. Too bad they didn't do a better job on the roof when they added this room. At least it doesn't leak.....thank God.
So far my golf cart is stying dry, no wind to push the rain under the carport....yet. But there won't be a dry place for Mandy to go potty in an hour or a place to get under to stay dry doing so. Maybe God will part the rain so we can go out and not get rained on. He has done that before. If she has an accident on a rug, I surely won't scold her. She is a nervous wreck.
I missed my UPS guy so I'll have to catch him after Christmas for his gift. He is just an amazing delivery person. And Mandy loves the treat he always has for her. He treats every dog on his route and everyone loves him. I feel bad that I missed him.  .
Jane, I almost always fall asleep slowly, tossing and turning. But these sleep aides work so well, most of the time. I slept so good last night that I may not fall asleep well tonight. Prayers for the kids to make it safely.
Back to the kitchen disaster.

Grammy, you were sneaky. hehehe Yeah, the aprons are all done. I'm sure they turned out so well and will be loved but all that receive them. What story did Kathy read today? Sorry about DD's friend moving. Sad for your DD for happy for her friend.
Still raining here, but not quite as hard, so it's less loud in here. My kitchen is almost cleaned up after the chili. I just have to scoop the chili into serving sizes and put some in the freezer for later. Then I'll have the kettle and ladle to wash and put away. I will be having some for supper tonight. MMMMMmmm I'ld make some corn bread to go with, but I'm done with messes in the kitchen for today. UGH!!!
