Good Morning....
It's starting out cold but will be warming up for a few days. Friday will be in the low 50's.
Tonight we go pick up our friends at the airport. They are the ones we visited last winter in AZ. They will be back here till after Christmas and then fly back.
I'll be heading out shopping again this morning and trying to finish up. And then I need to make those cookies. I'm running out of time...LOL And I need to pack up the boxes to send to DS's. I think it will cost more to send them than what's in them.
Have a great day everyone.......

CJ Excitement at your house. Won't it be a great get together with your friends. I hope you find lots of goodies and good sales when you shop.
Today is so busy, taking my car to have it "winterized, DGD putting up Christmas tree and decor, friend coming, cardiologist appointment in Ft. Wayne. I'll be glad when today is over. Too much in one day but each is a blessing. It's another cloudy day and 34*. I'm ready for warmer weather.

Good morning, friends. It is a frosty morning here in central MO. Warming up to around 50 later, though. Mike has just left to go to his mom's house and I am waiting a bit to take my walk, I want it to be a bit warmer. Yesterday, the wind was so sharp that I ended up just doing the recumbent bike in the basement.
I thank you so very much for lifting us up in prayer over the past week and for the many precious cards I have received from the neighborhood. It was a tough and long day, but we got through it. The White Christmas pies were a big hit, and I was actually proud of them as they set up nicely and tasted just like DMIL's, except I used real vanilla from Mexico and it gave it a bit of a cinnamon flavor, which kind of made it taste a bit off to me. I am not a fan of that type of vanilla, but wanted to use "the good stuff" for this pie when, in fact, I think it would have been better if I had just stuck with my usual Watkins vanilla. The rolls went over well, too.
And, oh, the quilts! We ended up having two or three quilt stands full throughout the funeral home, one draped over the casket, three or four used as table cloths on tables displaying photos and several that were nicely folded and positioned under the casket stand. It was a beautiful sight to behold for sure.
Eli had a basketball tournament in Dixon, MO, that started that night and we got home after the funeral about 4, changed clothes and headed the 1-1/2 hours there to watch him play at 7:45. Got home about 10:30 and crashed. Yesterday, I did a bit of picking up around here, rode my exercise bike, then headed to town to do some shopping, pay our personal property and real estate taxes (ouch!), go the library and got some milk and a few groceries. Dashed home, made us some stirfry for supper with a leftover roll and then we dashed back out to Emmett's 5th Grade Christmas concert at his school. Crashed on the couch about 8:30 to just chill for a bit. Mike was up by 5:00 this morning; he is getting a terrible head cold and that, along with his thoughts about all that needs to be done as executor of his mom's estate, kept him from sleeping longer.
CJ, we are doing the same things today. As soon as I finish here, I am typing up a letter to my penpal in France and going to put it in one of the two boxes I have packed up, get the boxes wrapped and taped up and the head to the Post Office to send them on their way. I KNOW that it is going to cost more to ship those two boxes than what I have inside. I had DMIL embroider their entire family's first names on big beach towels for each of them and little did I know that would be one of the last projects she ever did on her state-of-the-art machine. I thought they would be light and easy to mail, but they are big towels and much bulkier to pack than I anticipated. However, on a positive note, they were great packing material for the jars of honey and apple butter I am sending as well as other small things for the kiddos and some coffee and coffee mugs for the adults as well as some of our Burgers summer sausage.
Time to get that letter written to Annie and do something with the little time I have at home these days--I now am feeling really retired as I can relate to those who always told me they don't know how they had time to work. Eli has basketball games at the tournament tonight and tomorrow night for sure and, depending on how they do, possibly Friday night. And, tomorrow is Grandparents' Day for Trinity at her school, we're taking off a truck bed load of things to donate to the Helping Hands organization in that area and then off to Eli's ballgame that night. I don't see any rest in the near future, but we love being with the grands and supporting them in all their activities.

We were out before the sun came over the mountains, but then we usually are. It's 47º heading for 78 again today. Not too bad for December but after today it will be cooling off once again.
A quick trip to the UPS to return the seat covers for the cart and then I hope to finish my Christmas cookie marathon. If I'm not too tired after that I'll let Annie tackle the floors while I shake out the rugs and do a little dusting. We don't have much and this place is smaller, so dusting doesn't take very long. I just don't like to do that job. And I found out last night that I only have one headlight on the golf cart so I called Denny and they will come and get the cart. That should have been checked before he sold it to anyone. But whatever.
Elle, you surely do have some busy days ahead. Can you sneak in a nap on Friday?
CJ, good luck shopping today. Enjoy the nicer weather too.
Debbie, I use Mexican vanilla all the time, purchased IN Mexico and there is no cinnamon taste. The stuff sold in the US, is not the same. Sorry it gave the pies an off taste. But happy the pies were a hit just the same. Take care.

Good morning grannies, it's a cold, cloudy day with the temp at 35 now and staying near the 49s today. Oh, for a little warm sunshine.
CJ after you mentioned the phone call from the Dr's office as a reminder for appointments, I remembered that I always get a call. This time I didn't, I'll get the call this week. Nice to be able to enjoy a visit with your friends.
Elle,a couple of busy days for you,I would like to stay busy with something besides Kindle!
Debbie we all knew the pies would be a good thing.Using the quilts was a great tribute to MIL. What a great idea for others to be able to see them. Those DGC do keep you on the road! Good thing you don't mind all the travel and late hours.
Mamma what shame the seat covers didn't wok. Hope that head light gets a quick fix.
Nothing special going on here today. Not even snow or raindrops to watch. More time with Kindle and some time with the jig saw puzzle

Good Morning Ladies - - - The sun is out but it's not so warm - in the 30's. I have a load in the washer and probably ready for the dryer or soon will be. I have a Dr. appt. again today to check and see if this new med is doing what it was intended to do. It hadn't 2 weeks ago, but she started me out slow on the doze and then increased it so now we will see. Otherwise, not much planned. today is the day the paper comes so can read that later if I have time and the girls BB game is on at 6. Not much, but keeps me busy and the day still fly by.. I am so happy that I have my gifts wrapped and not scrambling to do that, like many years - I was going to get cards out early and work on them a week ago, but that still hasn't happened. CJ, hope you find just what you are looking for. Ellie, what a busy day for you - - Hopefully you will be able to rest well tonight. Debbie, what a busy time you have had. I didn't think anything would be better than the Watkin's vanilla, even though I like to use the Mexican. I have quite a bit on hand now that people have brought back and given me. The white Christmas pie makes me think of this lady that always made 2 of them for the Christmas Tree Fantasy and one year I was lucky enough to be able to have a piece. I have her receipe, but have never tried it. They had since moved and he is no longer on the board. Good luck to the kids and their games. Mamma, what a shame the seat covers aren't working out. Now to get your light fixed and cookies baked. You will be all caught up then and can just sit around and eat cookies - LOL IC, hope the shot go's well and you will be home again! Grammy, what is the puzzle picture of that you are working on? Hope the pieces all fit together easily.

OH OH!!I forgot to cut the recipe from BlueSpuce in half. I'm afraid I'll have to share some of these cookies. Or maybe I'll just freeze them. Although I won't mind sharing with Mike and Patti. Mandy isn't going to wait for all of them to get done so I'll have to quit at some point and take her out. That will give my arms a rest too. They are getting close to enough is enough.
Tomorrow a pretty plate of cookies will be set on the table for me to enjoy whenever I want. I'm good at only allowing me to eat a certain amount.
The temp outside is now 78º, that's high enough.
