Good Morning....
It's raining again and will be all day. The temps will be in the low 40's and foggy.
I'm going to my moms Christmas dinner from where she lives. I go every year with her. Usually it's been at a golf club in the area, but this year they decided to have it at the club house in the complex. It will be catered and sounds like it will be very nice. My mom is on the organizing committee and has been very busy this past week getting things done. I'll go a little early to help sell the 50/50 tickets and raffle tickets for all the donations from the nearby towns. And I'll stay after to help with the clean up. It's always a fun time.
Yesterday was fun with the kids. That Teddy changes from day to day now. His vocabulary is really increasing. And I noticed the sibling squabbling has started...LOL Teddy doesn't sit back and let Penny take things from him anymore...he fights back.
Have a great day everyone......

Good morning everyone, I hope everyone is doing well. The sun is out. And it is not too cold in the 50s I think. I have no ambition, so hopefully some will come knocking on my door. Every year for Christmas I make fudge And every year I procrastinate. Wait till the last. Minute to do stuff. I haven't bought any ingredients for the candy yet, I am thinking about a old recipe I used to make English toffee bars. They are very good. So I guess if I was smart, I would make a list That might help. Hope all of you have a wonderful day I will be back later. Yesterday was my 61st wedding anniversary I always wrote to him when he was gone. So yesterday I wrote him a little letter. 🦋🦋

It's dark, misty and feels cold even though the temp is 45* It's a perfect for a nap and that's on my "to do" list. Actually, it's the only thing on my to do list. LOL It was good to be back in Sunday school and church today. They did a skit and our message was Hope, the hope of our Savior. They had young and old involved and the platform was decorated so nice. We even had a live baby Jesus they used. Lunch was roast beef, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and apple pie.
CJ Teddy and Penny wouldn't be "normal" if that sibling rivalry wasn't present. So cute!! So nice of you to have lunch with your mom and to help with the cleanup etc.
CAROLYN I don't have my shopping done yet, gift and/or grocery. I'll do what I can and let the rest go. How comforting to write your precious husband a special letter on your anniversary. Your children will enjoy reading them too.
ICOOK You'll be ready for a nap when the dusting and cookies are done. Does Tinker share the cookies?
Time to get serious about a nap. zzzzzzzzzzz

Good Morning Ladies - - - It's just 34 and cloudy here today. We had snow again yesterday. It had just started and was still melting on the street when I went out to pick up my grocery order. I set the alarm last night as I really wanted to go to church, for the Parade of Church's. I got up and looked out and there was snow covered drive way and street, so I thought I'm going to stay in again, as I am so afraid of falling and one of these times, I am not going to be so lucky to get by without broken bones. I went to the little girls room and crawled back in bed. By then I was awake, so took me awhile to go back to sleep, but I did. I did watch the service on FB - - there were only 25 kids in the choir this year, and I remember so well when it took 3 buses to bring them. They did a nice job. Needless to say, I have no plans for the day - maybe it would be a good day to get my cards out and begin getting them ready for the mail. I have potato soup for supper, but I could make the chili or a hot dish with the burger I have thawing in the frig and then that would be done too. CJ, I know you will be a big help to your mom and her friends - I'm sure you will have a nice meal and a pleasant afternoon. Both of your moms are lucky to have raised such caring and helpful kids and nice that you are close enough to do all the things you do for them... Carolyn, I know that yesterday was a very special day for you and it was nice that you could put your feelings in the letter - what a comfort. IC, hope the cookies will hit the spot - - I'm sure they will be great and as far as I know, I have never had those cookies, unless maybe they were under a different name. Ellie, glad you could get back to your church - - Something seems to be missing when we are unable to do that. You will get your shopping done, both gifts and groceries, when the time is right. I am happy that I got most of my gift shopping done and wrapped. That always seems to be a big job anymore! What a wonderful lunch you had and now, enjoy your nap. Mamma, thinking of you today and hope your memories will bring you much needed comfort. Debbie, I am also thinking of all of Mike's family. So happy that you can all be there for each other.

Good afternoon. I chose to stay home today, feeling puny yet and didn't want to share it with Al. I'll be there on Tuesday, so we'll have a good visit then. I'm putting some Christmas stuff up, just have a splitting headache. I know it's from lack of sleep and stress, I need that to get better. I'll be in and out, BBL

GREENBACK I think you made a wise decision to not risk a fall. The number of our kids has taken a big drop too. We used to have 3 vans picking them up and now maybe just one. Covid is what affected us and also, we find parents aren't willing to make the effort to get their kids there. (Many of our kids were unchurched and parents wanted a built in babysitter.) Sad but true. Although, slowly but hopefully surely, we are getting a few here and there. DH did most of our wrapping and he was much better at it than I am. I kept him supplied with tape. LOL
LAURIE I hope you get feeling better soon.

Good evening to all. I just put the first two pans of my oatmeal rolls in the oven to bake. Have one more pan to bake after those for a total of 110 rolls for tomorrow's dinner. Two big white Christmas pies are done and are in the fridge to chill overnight. Please pray that they set up! That is a complicated and time consuming recipe. I see now why DMIL only made them once a year. I think I dirtied up every measuring cup and bowl I had (that might be a slight exaggeration), and had to use both my hand mixer and my stand mixer in the process of making them. I also made homemade crust for both! The recipe is a cooked mixture of flour, sugar, salt and milk, let that cool and then fold in whipped cream (that was done with the stand mixer and its whip), then fold in a meringue (that was the hand-held mixture as I had chilled the whip and bowl for the stand mixer and was afraid if I washed those I wouldn't get it quite dry and the egg whites wouldn't whip. And even though I made only two pies, I used 10-inch pie pans, deep dish style, so I made a triple batch of the filling so they would be nice, full pies. And, dad gum it, I swore I had coconut here at home, but when I got going could only find a piece of a package so had to send Mike to town after coconut around 5:00! He brought me back two bags, but I wish I had one more. But, it is what it is. If they don't set up, I told him we will get out spoons and tell everyone to dig in. I did the best I could. Very carefully and as patiently as I could be, folding in the whipped cream and then folding in the meringue mixture.
Our awesome daughters and their families surprised us by being at church when we got there this morning. DMIL also attended church there and they wanted to be there in her honor. The 12 of us almost fill an entire pew (our church is pretty big and has long pews, three sets of them). We were touched by their thoughtfulness. We went to SS afterward and they went shopping for a bit for things for the kiddos to wear to the funeral and then we all met for a quick lunch and looked over the slide show that DD#2 had put together in honor of DMIL. If you're interested, you can view it on the funeral home's Facebook page (Bowlin-Cantriell Funeral Home, California, MO). She was limited to 50 pictures, per funeral home instructions, so she is also putting together some poster boards with printed pictures on them and we are all bringing our favorite quilt to the funeral home tomorrow morning to be displayed on table tops and over the pew backs. Don't know if I told you, but they will also be draping the Christmas quilt she had just put on her bed on top of her casket--kind of like a veteran's flag is draped on a casket. I think that will be very special.
Time to check my rolls and decide what I am going to wear tomorrow. Love to all....
