Good Morning....
The rain has stopped, finally. But it will be a dreary day with highs around 40.
Here are the ornaments I made. Nothing fancy...just a keepsake of how they change from year to year.
We will have the kids for a bit today. Maybe we can go out for a little wagon ride around the neighborhood. So, if you see us, wave. LOL
Nothing much happening yet. Have a great day.........

When a person thinks of the desert one would think hot. Well this morning was anything but hot. It was only 42º when Mandy and I ventured out at 7. Seeing what my family in MN is getting they would say that 42º is warm compared to their 18º. I'm sure some of you feel the same way. Going out these last two mornings I've come to the conclusion that I need warmer shoes or else wear my winter boots more often. My goodness are my feet ever cold. My nice warm slippers should help warm them up soon.
If I stay with my plans, no cookie baking will be done today. The sheets need to be changed and the floors need more than a glance or a thought. Maybe just maybe I'll get it done......one of these days. Oh my goodness I've really gotten lax with my house cleaning. I sure do miss my great helper
CJ, those decorations are just darling. What a wonderful idea that will be treasured for years.

Cjay, those little ones are so cute. What a good idea for keepsakes. It is cold and rainy here. Not complaining about the rain, we really need it. Today is my 61st. Wedding anniversary. Seemd so long ago and almost like a dream. If DH had lived to Dec. 2, 2012 were would have had 50 years. But he left in May 2012. That seems like a lifetime. 🥲 The rain makes my bones ache but I will just bundle up and either watch tv or crochet, I mailed some stuff yesterday and the post lady told me stamps are going up to $13 in January. Hope everyone is feeling well. Be back later.

Carolyn, $13 for how many postage stamps? They are 66¢ each now and in January a stamp will be 68¢.

Good Morning Ladies - - - It's 32 and cloudy here - I feel chilly but then I am still in my nightgown and robe. The shower is next on the list. I did a grocery order first thing as I wanted to get them before it got too late, so took a 2:00 PM pickup time. I didn't get a lot, but wanted to get some pizza's while they are on sale, and sure hope they haven't run out of the supreme. I got a big pack of toilet paper to fill my order up and a couple of small items. CJ, what cute ornaments and what cute kids! They seem to change every time I see a picture and just get cuter and cuter all the time. Love the ornaments. Mamma, we get use to our weather and when it changes, we notice it big time. Good idea to lay low today and just do what needs to be done. Cookies will wait and you should still have some to munch on. I finished the pumpkin bars from TG for breakfast today! Carolyn, the stamps seem to go up every 6 months. I ordered some Christmas ones this week and was surprised to get them the next day - After all the problems I have had with them, it was a pleasant surprise. Today is a good day to reflect on your many memories that you shared with your DH. May they bring you peace and comfort today and always. I had better finish up and get my shower taken and dressed - - Good thing I don't have a lot of unannounced company!

The weather here is also dark, dreary but no rain. It was and still is 44* when I went to bed last night. DSIL stopped in and said he heard the month of December is to be mostly in the 40's. I'm ok with that, in fact, until March when it gets to the 60*+ temperature and lots of sunshine. I have a batch of cookies baked and want to get laundry and finish cleaning today. DD and DSIL didn't come last night as DD has what I had. I haven't been with her so not sure where she got it.
CJ The ornaments are really beautiful and something the DGC will treasure and probably use on their own tree some day.
Mamma It was actually warmer here this a.m. than where you live. Go figure. Someone is really making Mother Nature upset. It sounds like you and Mandy<msreadoutspan class="msreadout-line-highlight"> are enjoying the new GC. I'm happy <msreadoutspan class="msreadout-word-highlight">for</msreadoutspan> you.</msreadoutspan>
CAROLYN Happy Anniversary. A special day of memories and longing in the heart. DH and I would have had 58 years if he would have lived 2 months longer. That was nearly 5 years ago.
GREENBACK I've never tried the pick up ordering but when the weather is yucky, it's something I probably should look into. I hope you get the pizza's you want.
ICOOK A happy 82nd BIRTHDAY to your DH. My DH would have been 85 last month. How those years flew!!! Enjoy your cozy warm jams/robe today.

Jane, it's too cold in the house for me to take a shower in the morning. In fact evening isn't much better. LOL I do hope that your grocery order had the pizza's that you wanted
Carolyn, bittersweet memories. And happy anniversary too.
IC, Marks birthday is tomorrow too. He would have been 72. No iced cookies here this year and I know I'll miss them.
Elle, the golf cart is a joy to have even though it is still taking time to get used to it. What kind of cookies did you bake? No cleaning here, I'm cold and lazy so am staying wrapped up in my Christmas quilt in the recliner until it warms up. hehehe
My lunch was oatmeal, peanut butter toast and juice. I'm thinking I need hot chocolate too yet. I just can't get warm since our morning jaunt. It's only 64º outside now.
Jill is back in her cocoon, only going to work and not wanting to do anything again. I can’t even get her to come over for coffee. She always has some excuse that really can wait. That is all part of her anxiety and depression issues. She closes off from everyone. We still text back and forth but that is it. I wish I could help her but she won’t accept help until she has to commit herself. And then they are being mean to her, or so she ways. So sad. I don’t think she wants to get well and there is nothing I can do.

The sun was shining brightly a little earlier but the clouds have taken over and that looks like what we will have for awhile. I'd rather have snow than weeks of this dark dismal and wet stuff as we have had other years. Temp is 50 but I'm still cold. My hands get so cold the ache and winter isn't here yet! I'm wearing sweat pants and shirt. I hated to put them on this morning. I don't want o let this become a habit but I'm cold!
The cleaning girl was here this morning now some of those hard to get to places are clean. The low places are the ones I can't get to,if I got down there I prob couldn't get up again! She does a good job but still some teaching to be done.
I'm tired today so I need some rest time maybe I'll get back here later.

Hi all! I slept in this morning and that was after falling asleep watching a movie last night, I guess I needed it. I had to go to help present a "big check" today for the arts council. Picture was taken, everyone was smiling, it was good. After that, I stopped at a grocery store, $ General and then home. I really don't want to go to the Lutefisk and Meatball dinner tonight, but I will go as the Yeti wants to go, it's a fundraiser at our church, and all of that jazz. I better get off my butt and go work on some wreaths. I also found out I don't have to go to a meeting on Wednesday that I thought I had to, so that opened up my schedule a bit too. A friend from Genoa just sent me a picture of the ornaments on her tree that I made with her son and daughter. They are dated 1991, that made my heart happy.

Elle, there was a time when I laughed and teased my DM for wearing gloves in the house. Now I understand! There are times my hands ache because they are so cold. A friend called to say she was sending me gloves with fingers that drop down. I think I know what they are because I bought some for a gift a few years. I believe they are for using a phone. The joys of getting older!
CJ the ornaments are great to see how the kids grow so quickly!
Carolyn I stopped sending cards several years. I have some tremors and my no one would be able to read anything I wrote. I had no Idea what stamps cost! I remember when a stamp was 3 cents. Hope you are enjoying some good memories today.

Good afternoon to all. It is a dreary day here, too. A little "mizzle" and just damp and chilly.
We got up and traveled to Iberia, MO, and watched Drew play two games of basketball. They got beat by 2 in the first one and blew the opposing team out 37-3 in the second game. Then, we traveled back home, stopping in the burg of Russellville, MO, at the Covered Bridge Market to grab a quick bite. Got both a meal and music as they had an ol' timers group playing tunes today. Then, came home, made the bed (took sheets off this morning and hadn't had time to put the clean sheets on before we left), dried and folded towels, and I was able to get Mike signed up for Social Security on line--fingers crossed that his goes faster than mine did when I applied in February!
Now, it is time to get ready for our classic car club's Christmas party which starts in just over an hour. I have our gifts ready and 28 assorted muffins in pretty cloth-lined baskets. I always take homemade muffins along, give everyone their choice and then provide them with the little bags to put them in to take them home. I believe I have started a tradition that I had better not try to stop. This year's offerings are caramel apple, lime coconut, lemon streusel, lemon gingerbread, banana/nut/caramel, monkey (banana/chocolate chip/peanut butter), lemon blackberry, and orange marmalade. We also exchange male and female gifts in a fun way and have a delicious meal. We are really looking forward to being more involved in the car club if Mike does, indeed, decide not to work out of state in the coming year.
We got funeral arrangements made for DMIL yesterday. It was a long, sad and stressful day, but she had everything arranged and paid for, we had little to do except confirm her selections, visit with the minister, arrange the luncheon at our church, and write the obituary. DSIL did that and the only charges will be the cost to run the obituaries in the two papers we need to have it published in (our papers now require payment to print obituaries, birth announcements and wedding announcements!) and the opening and closing of the grave by the gravediggers. Very interesting fact, DMIL and DFIL both pre-paid for their funerals in 1999. Sadly, my DFIL passed away that same year. They each paid $6900 for their funerals. If we had to pay for DMIL's funeral today it would be nearly $19,000 for everything she selected! Thankful for her foresight!
I am going to make my oatmeal rolls for the funeral luncheon. I will have to get those made tomorrow. I'm going to make 3 batches since we are expecting about 65 people to attend the luncheon. I wanted to go to an afternoon craft show where my sister and nephew will be selling their wares, but I just don't think I can do everything I want to do tomorrow, especially since we will be going to Sunday School and church, first. I will have to figure out how to get them to the church early Monday morning which is in the opposite direction of the funeral. But, after the funeral in California, MO, we will go to the burial next to DFIL in the cemetery in Centertown, then can travel to Jefferson City for the funeral dinner. I haven't told anyone (other than Mike and the girls) that I am doing the rolls as I want to do it in tribute and honor of my DMIL whom I truly admired, loved and respected.
CJ, I love the ornaments! They will be cherished by you now and their parents and themselves later!
Time to change clothes into something a bit festive for the Christmas party. I'm looking forward to the meal--family style fried chicken and country ham!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Today has just flown by - I did get my shower taken and hair washed and dried, then it was time for the Hawkeye girls BB game - they are so fun to watch. After that I quick put in an order for KS and then went to pick up my Fareway order and I did get my pizza's. I did have to sub. pretzels on the order - I have picked the mini twists and they were gone and I checked to see if the pizza's were a sub, so saw that and changed to the pretzel sticks, which was just fine. I got a box of rice checks too,, so will make some party mix. I don't especially care for the wheat ones, so will just use the rice cks and pretzels and some peanuts. Will be a nice snack. When I got to KS, they said my order didn't come through, so I told her what I wanted and gave her my card. I forgot to tell her a couple of things and then she forgot my eggs, so guess I really wouldn't have had to go there, as I didn't end up with much. Did get the peppermint ice cream - that is always a once a year treat! Came home and put stuff away and made some potato soup - Had some milk I thought I should use and didn't have anything else in mind, so it will be good after a little. I will make chili now tomorrow or Mon. also, as I got the tomato juice and brought in a pkg. of burger to thaw. It got dark really early today - when I got up after the game, it was snowing - I thought that was all going south, but it did melt as it landed on the street. I will have to see what it's like later - I would like to go to church tomorrow for the Parade of Churches.
