How many of you are busy in the kitchen this morning with turkey day prep? I'll just sit and watch. 
A cold breezy morning had Mandy and I bundled up and she was quick to do business out there. Some time today I have to figure out how and put up the top half of the golf cart windshield. The cold wind hitting me in the face each morning has to stop. My nose looks like Rudolph's when I come inside.
Today the tech comes to look at and fix my oven. The burners have worked fine for quite some time now. I have a lot of cookies to bake so I NEED my oven to work properly soon. I'll take my steak out of the freezer for Thanksgiving dinner and the roast out to thaw some so I can slice it for jerky. Jill brought over a little cherry pie and a scoop of ice cream. That will be my Thanksgiving dessert. I am not fond of pumpkin anything. Not much else planned for today.
I hope that today isn't as windy as it has been so I can put my plants back on the porch. They need the sunshine but not getting whipped around by the wind.
Indecisive Jill has changed her mind about going to her sisters for Thanksgiving. She just can't stick with anything anymore. I wish I was a therapist and knew how to help her. But I don't so I just shut up. I'm really worried about her. It shouldn't bother me because she has always been like this I just never had much to do with her or her anyone else. She is very much a recluse and makes me look like a social butterfly. LOL
Yesterday I started doing some research into Life alert buttons. Since I live alone and no one ever comes to see me or calls, I'm afraid I could lay for days and no one would be the wiser. All seem to have the same pro's and cons so it's a matter of money.
One more cup of coffee, I still have one cookie left.

Good Morning....
It's a gloomy day so far. Not looking like we will see the sun.
Well, I've started on the rolls and it's not going so good. I thought the mixer would really help but when I mixed/kneaded it just turned into a gloppy mess. And the yeast wasn't proofing like it should. I dumped the first yeast mixture and started again. This was a little better but not like I think it should be. I had to take the dough out of the mixer bowl and do some kneading by hand. I know I added more flour than it calls for...so not sure this is going to turn out. Might have to start the whole process over again.
Mamma...hope your oven gets fixed today. My mom has a life alert that she wears faithfully. DMIL, on the other hand, won't wear hers. I love all things pumpkin. Pumpkin pie has always been my favorite pie since I was a kid. Someone else is bringing pumpkin pie to our gathering tomorrow, so I'm making a apple pie.
Not much news. Hope everyone can get all their cooking done without any problems. Have a great day........

Good Morning Ladies - - - I have a busy day ahead - at least busy for me - some of you would think it was an easy day, I'm sure. I made the pumpkin bars yesterday and have never had this happen before, but after I got them out of the oven, there was an area about the size of my hand that fell and they looked awful. I did frost them,, and my plan is to just leave them home or else cut them and put some in another container. I am going to make another dessert when I get home from the Dr. and picking up a grocery order. I quickly added a couple of cans of pumpkin to the order I had. I will do an easy one like Grammy's. I have a load of towels in hte washer and pineapple draining. I did get most of the stuff put away in the kids bedroom. It will be late when they get here and I don't have to make supper.
Mamma, hope that oven gets fixed so you get all of those cookies made. The kids want me to get a life line too, so let me know what you find out - I said I would get one, but so far have done nothing about it, except to keep my cell close by.. Enjoy your pie, but I would rather the pumpkin - like CJ, I really like pumpkin and it's so good for you. I copied down a receipe for pumpkin baked oatmeal that I plan to make sometime.
CJ, your bread is about as disappointing as my pumpkin bars. So disappointing to waste all of the ingredients!
Well, I had better get busy - - I always have to sit a spell after everything I do! Happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone of you and your loved ones. I'm sure many will be to busy to come here tomorrow, so I wanted to extend my thanks for all of you, today.

Goodmorning grannies, it's a chilly 40* this morning and not warming much above that. No sunshine today just grey and cloudy!
Mamma, not a good time for you and Mandy to be out. Get the business taken care of quickly! Sorry to hear that Jill can be a difficult friend. Depressed people can really suck the joy right out of your life. Seems you are already learning this just be careful that it doesn't happen to you. Steak is good anytime we will prob have turkey. We will be going to DGS's house where there is not a good cook! I do think turkey is on the menu.
CJ I'll be interested in knowing how the rolls turn out. I did the oatmeal rolls twice and the second time was worse than the first ones! I'm wondering if the yeast was too old. I've done these many times and they have always been good.
I did go to the Thrift store for a wreath,Wow! So many nice things there. A lady was quick to welcome me and explain everything,they are a faith based non profit store with all proceeds staying in this county and supported by several churches. Several nice outdoor wreaths but I finally chose a snowman! Just the face and it's so cute and happy looking. It is now hanging in place outside. It's done on plywood so it should be good for a few years. I will leave it up after Christmas. Can't beat the price of $6.99 I really like it and it me smile to see it.
Today it will be clean up the mess after decorating the tree! Maybe Kathy can help me she will be down here for her sewing lesson today

Sun is out today & 49* Yesterday rained most of the day Rain is needed here. I'll be getting some Christmas things out today.
Mamma I have a life alert. The county pays for mine I might have to start paying it next year. It's based on your income.

41* and comfortable indoors. Yesterday we got some nice rain. I have started laundry. Finished my afghan and now i am going to crochet some pot holders. I went to the store yesterday and bought some rib eyes. They are 6.49 a pound. A good sale. I packaged them for the freezer. Bought three packages. They are for my grandson. He is coming over with his two boys.He is begging me to go over there South Carolina for a visit. DD wants me to come back to Florida. Right now I am good staying here. Road runner is pretty tired. I did do the things I said I would. Mamma,maid you say if you have a toaster oven? I sure hope you get your oven up and running. Be back later |

Oh for the love of Hanna. This morning I checked my oven to see how far off the temp was. For the last hour it held and worked well. Geesh.  The company just called and the service person will be here 3:30 to 5. I'm going to have him check it out anyway. Maybe I'll bake some cupcakes just to be sure it is really working right. Just like my golf cart...when it went to the shop it worked great and when I brought it home it was not. (But thankfully the cart has been good for the last month. Knock on wood.)

The rolls turned out...at least from looks. Don't know if they will taste good. But I'm not fretting about it anymore.

It sounds like a kitchen test day, food, ovens etc. LOL Good afternoon everyone! I got a much needed haircut this a.m. The salon was nicely decorated with Christmas decor and Christmas music was playing. I will make noodles, mashed potatoes and gravy for tomorrow so I brought my crockpots in, placed the liners in them, have the food containers ready to get them on the stove tomorrow. My youngest DD will be having it. There will be about 12 of us. I'm expecting another Amazon order this afternoon too. Maybe I'll try to get the rest of my shopping done by the end of next week.
Time for a nap zzzzzzzzzzzzz

The tech is ordering a new sensor board for the oven and two new burners. He suggested getting rid of the type of burners that is on this range. They have the sensor button in the center and he said they are for safety and often go out. So they will be replaced with the regular kind the next time I have issues with these burners. The oven could continue to work or it will be a real pain in the butt baking Christmas cookies. Time will tell. If you hear foul language coming from way down south, you will know that my oven is on the fritz again.

Oh no, Cindy, you can't be naughty, you have to be nice because Santa Clause is coming to town!! LOL Seriously, I do hope your tech gave right advice and all will be fixed and working well soon so you can bake cookies etc.

I have another dessert made and it looks okay - Sometimes I question my cooking abilities anymore! I'm really tired and my legs aren't very sturdy - When I was at the Dr. I asked the nurse for an arm back to the exam room and then I asked her if she could walk me out. So very much appreciated as I wasn't feeling very sturdy. One thing she said could be effecting things was that my BP was low, however the pulse rate hadn't lower yet. I guess I have been trying to do too much, even though I don't do a lot.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you ALL! I don't know if I will get here tomorrow, but have no fear, just like a bad penny, I shall return sooner or later! Enjoy your turkey or whatever you are having.
