Good morning from Lazy Bones House. Woke up earlier than I should have and not liking it. The past couple days have been like that. Anyway, it is clear and calm and warming up.
As soon as the hunters come and leave, I'll go to the grocery store. Might then finish off that quilt. It should be done and wrapped but hence the name of my house. LOL.
Potato soup will be our supper, I think, unless we eat it all at noon.
I looked at my cookie ingredient supply and don't have enough chocolate chips to make even one batch. I'm going to try the recipe adding vanilla pudding. Anyone else do that? The recipe makes 7 dozen and I thought, wow. But really, they will get ate over hunting season.
Guess that is it. I'm sleepy so need to get up and move around.

Wanda my cookie jar is empty too. Time to bake some for that and then next week I'll get started on my Christmas cookies. I've tried that recipe once. We don't like soft cookies but they were ok. So I gave them to a neighbor and they loved them.
Yesterday I got the Christmas tree up, a week earlier than our tradition. I also put a string of white light across the top of the front windows in the living room. Those lights will stay up all year. I was hoping the tree would help with my mood, but it just made it worse.
Mike had to come and help with the hot water heater after all. The panel that needed to be opened was too low for me. Today he has to come back, the temp wasn't raised enough. I couldn't tell much difference in the water temp.
We got some rain yesterday and last night right after Mandy and I got home from her nightly duty. So this morning it is rather muggy. It won't last long though. Partly cloudy today with a high of 74, Good baking weather. So will be cookies and hopefully popcorn balls today. Oh and Annie needs to be let loose, I raised a lot of dust yesterday.

Good Morning Ladies - - - I guess today is to start our cool down and then it will soon go to just plain cold! Guess we are lucky to be half through Nov. with the wonderful weather we had this week and everything so green yet. Yes, we had our first snowfall early, but it's gone and forgotten! It is to be very windy today and they said to be careful on east/west roads - well, that will be the most of my travel for today. Doesn't look to bad out there yet, but I think they said late morning. MY spaghetti soup turned out so good yesterday and I really enjoyed it last night. I may have to thin it a bit as it is really thick, but so good. Don't know what I will have today for lunch, but I know it won't be a taco salad - I have been disappointed with that twice now at the place we go. Maybe just a good old burger. Laurie, don't know if you read back or not, but check out my last post for yesterday. Just Me, I have had the CC cookies with the pudding and thought they were very good. Been a long time ago though, as I don't do a lot of baking anymore - I will make pumpkin bars for TG, as DDIL always requests them - she would rather those than pie. Hope the guys do good. Mamma, hope Mike gets the hot water heater up high enough today - just be careful until you know, that he didn't get it too hot. There is such a little difference between the two - just like when you are in the shower - sure don't want a cold shower, but it can get too hot quickly too! It's okay to make some new traditions now that work for you - Mark will always be by your side and he would like for you to enjoy the time during the holidays too. Have a good day ladies - - -

Good morning grannies, a frosty, chilly 29 this morning but warming to the 60s this afternoon. Maybe I can sit on the deck and catch some rays!
Good morning Lazy Bones, you prob never have time to be lazy! That's just wishful thinking. Is your Christmas shopping done? If you make cookies I'm sure there will be someone to eat them. Not many get made here DGD doesn't let the kids have many sweets. I thought cookies and kids went together! Is the quilt a Christmas gift?
Mamma, glad you have a solution to the hot water problem.I don't like luke warm showers either. I like a nice hot shower. I have to same problem, I could get down but I can't get up! Sounds like cookies will be made at your house today. Just remember I'm always happy to stop by and do the QC. I would need several before making my decision keep them, share them or toss them out. Sorry the Christmas things didn't help much just keep trying. I had biscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast. Tasted yummy! Having so little when I grew up most food tasted yummy to me. No picky eaters in our house. The breakfast was from the Food distribution that we help with. When closing the volunteers can take whatever they want from the left over things.
Greenback umm the spaghetti soup is so good but we had split pea soup with cornbread that was good too.I like soup in this colder weather. We will be going to DGS's for Thanksgiving taking desserts. The request was for apple or pecan pie but I want pumpkin crunch! I didn't make it here yesterday, I was just too tired. The lunch with dd's friend was nice I didn't sit quietly in the corner, I was "included" in the group, those of you who are alone know what I mean. So it was nice time with the ladies also some good food! Yesterday was a day for me to make the oatmeal rolls by night time I was a tired grannie. I didn't even go to the concert last night! DD wants more rolls so I might try them again Friday evening when everyone is gone. I don't know what I did wrong but these didn't rise very much. I think the water for the yeast might not have been at the right temp. This time I will put them in the oven to raise. The oven can be set for that. This afternoon it's sewing time with Kathy, she might get her apron finished. I would like her to put a big K on it so she gets to use one of the embroidery stitches. That will keep her interested and attentive.

Good morning to all. It is a bit cooler here and cloudy, which is opposite of the forecast. Windy, too. My walk is done and Mike has left to go get his hair cut. I told him not too much as we have family pictures scheduled for early Saturday morning--my Mother's Day gift from Mike and the girls. This is the first time Mike has driven since his surgery, but he got up in the new, very tall truck just fine and was grinning as he drove away. His barber, Roy, is 90 years old and was Mike's barber when he was a little boy!
I made soup yesterday, too, and it hit the spot. I had a loaf of homemade honey wheat bread in the freezer, and that was our accompaniment and made a good slice of toast this morning to accompany my yogurt and granola, too.
Grammy, I sometimes think the weather affects rolls rising, too, just like my mom said about some of her candy recipes. Have I mentioned that I sure miss my momma??!!
I love soft, thick cookies much better than the crispy kind unless its biscotti. I may make our Thanksgiving caramel apple pie today and put it in the freezer, but I still have the two bedrooms to dust and the vacuuming which did not get done yesterday. But, I try to concentrate on all that did get done and not on what didn't. Several things got cleaned out and organized, soup and baked chimichanga filling for tonight's supper got made. Lots of dishes done. Some dusting did get accomplished and I got caught up on my Bible reading.
If I'm going to accomplish my list for today, I had better get at it. Wishing all a great day.

This morning after leaving the GN, I checked the Fry's grocery add. I don't shop there unless it's a sale that is good. And they had butter for 2.99 a pound and Folgers coffee for 5.99, raspberries for 1.49. And since I was there and they were not all that busy yet, I looked for a roast to make my beef jerky. OMG, I'll be a vegetarian soon. Of course Fry's prices are too high to begin with and now the birds are here and they raise their prices. Oh well, I need a good cut to make even slices for the jerky so I bit the big one, closed my eyes and put it in the cart. The jerky is oh so good and I only make it at Christmas time.
Now to get to the cookies. I'm making my million dollar cookies today. It's been a long time since I made those. They were always Marks favorite, I wish he could come and help me eat them now.
Jane I find that my spaghetti soup will get thicker too. I just add some tomato juice to thin it out. It's usually thicker the second time around. I don't blame you for not wanting to try another taco salad. Go for the burger and enjoy. I just might have one today too, but at home.
Grammy, I so understand about being included or excluded. I'm so happy that you had such an enjoyable time with the ladies.
Cold and damp, so the oven will help with changing that.

Mamma, I seldom feel excluded just not included. I feel there is a difference in those things.

Good morning! It's a beautiful day here too. The Yeti went and cut wood but it is too warm (on Nov. 16th!!!) to drive across the yard to stack it, so it'll sit for a bit. He said he needs to get his splitter home from his Dad's and has wood to split there yet. I didn't have to help, yay!-his niece, nephew and two great-nephews are there-they can do it! I'm still trying to get the details for his birthday stuff this weekend, he wants to go to a play at the Paul Bunyan Playhouse. They bought the old historic Chief Theater and use it for plays, musicals, etc. Brigadoon is playing and he said he wanted to go, neither of us have seen it. I was pleasantly surprised, we've done all of the high school musical stuff the kids were in and last year we went to Mama Mia there, he even took his brother's kids, as they probably wouldn't get to go otherwise. We also went to the Tempest at the Royal Shakespeare Theater in WDC. Anyways, I am hoping to go to town a bit earlier that day so that we can see my aunt, as long as I've kicked this bug that likes me so much that it wants to stick around. Al said I didn't share any cooties with him, which is great! I've tested negative twice for Covid, and had all of the boosters, but this event was worse than when I had Covid. I saw a kid from school yesterday and asked how it was back at school since the fire and he said he wasn't there as he's been sick (was in a restaurant where I had to drop off the Yeti's keys at 6:30 pm) and what he described sounds like what I had, I've heard there's stuff going around. I am NOT going to nap today as I was awake during the night the last two times I did that. I do have a 4:30 and 5:00 zoom meeting today, so I can contain my germs here. I took canning stuff to the basement, there was some stuff that had to be processed, so that's put away and took some other stuff down. Not sure if I'll even put any Thanksgiving stuff out, we'll see. The dr's office called regarding my Jan 24th appt-needed to reschedule, dang, that's organized. I was able to switch the big squeeze too, to the same day. The imagining dept is so easy to work with. Now, I need to check a couple of other things, as Jan. 20th is Ann's dad's 100th birthday. Of course, I am scheduled that week, but will give up the Monday if she'll be around a bit longer, otherwise, give up Friday, whatever. !00 is pretty amazing, lost his mom as a little kid, family was spread out to relatives, POW in WW2, lost his wife a few years ago and lives on his own, what an amazing man!!! That's my day in a nutshell, just had lunch, better get the stuff done before my meeting that I need to. Also, have to write a short Bio for the Art's Council, I need to see how others did their's.
Grammy-how do you make the pumpkin crunch? Sounds yummy! Debbie-my mom made a lot of cookie/candy trays as holiday gifts and she always told me that Divinity is a winter candy. I tried to make it in Florida at Christmas once, they looked like white vanilla wafters. Tasted fine, not the look I was going for. I guess it's a "dry weather" candy.
I can tell I'm not talking to many people in my house since no one is here, I'm pretty wordy today. Blessed be.

Grammy-I totally get the not included thing. We had some unpleasant words here the other day, I'm frankly sick and tired of hearing about my sainted SIL, I was told I was "disparaging". Well, his opinion is fine, I don't agree, nor do I have to. So, if he wishes to be around that, fine. I've seen different behaviors from some of their kids at school, I do not tell the parents or the Yeti about it, I keep those lives separated. I've also turned down working at that school, it's been asked and offered to sub there, no, but thanks anyway. It's hard to bite my tongue when they blame everyone but the kid who acts out in a different setting. So, that's not my circus, but the blatant ignoring (and excluding of me) really gets old. Off to my family I will go, they are happy to see me for me and not for what I do for them. I'm not really looking forward to some of the over-the-topness that will come with the holidays. We did not have a lot when I was a kid, we did appreciate the "extras" when we had them. Last year I watched one of the girls open 13 different Barbies, yes-13. Not counting the multiple outfits of clothes and dream house and car for the toy. Many outfits for the kid, as well as a small computer. But, when she received books-they were basically, figuratively and literally, thrown to the side. He will get to shop for them this year. I will be out of the country. I do know that they had little before they came to BIL, but it's become extreme at all events.

PTL Today I finally got ahold of someone at Whirlpool to help me with my malfunctioning oven. She even waived the warranty and set it so that I am still covered for three more months. God bless her for helping me. I was so grateful I shed tears. Ok, I know I cry easily. The repairman will be here next Wednesday.
This morning I had a one heck of a time baking cookies. I had to keep turning the oven back off and on and resetting it. It was operating worse than ever. It took me two hours to make a small batch of cookies. I can’t imagine what baking all my Christmas cookies would be like. She even helped me calibrate the oven so it would heat to 350º instead of stopping at 340º on preheat. I have an oven thermometer that works great so I can watch the temp. No way can I bake a cake in this oven.
Anyway, I’m so happy that I finally got someone to listen to me and will have my oven, fixed or replaced for my big baking days.
Mike just turned up my hot water heater again. He had to laugh…..yesterday he turned it the wrong way, so it was down and not up. I hope we got it right this time.
