OMG, I don't know when the wind started but everything is very covered in sand. I said a prayer before getting into the golf cart and God got us back and forth without in issue. We didn't go to the pet area, that was to far to go and breath in the dirt. I tried to cover Mandy's head on the way home which was into the wind. The wind is to get up to 55mph today so no windows or doors will be open. Temp may get to 75º, right now it is 63.

No church inside today, just on line. I'm not chance getting into a sand storm on the way home. Church will be on line today, just like old times. hehehe
Today will be the first batch of cookies since summer came upon us. I can hardly wait to have a "real" cookie. I'm making Oatmeal Scotchies or whatever you want to call them. Nothing else planned
I am chewing sand so I better get some coffee and clear my mouth. I'll need to wash my face and hands as well. I did wear a hat.
Blessings to all.

Good Morning....
It rained through the night and is gray and dreary out there. But some of the trees are still showing some very pretty color...even in the dreariness.
DH put a Amazon order in for me this morning. I ordered a mat for under the mixer, a cover for it (red) and the magnetic knife strips. Should be here on Tuesday. The mixer fits perfectly in the corner of the counter where the knife block was...even DH agreed it was the perfect place for it.
I used the dough hook this morning for a loaf of rustic italian bread and it did the job great. It is cooling on the counter as I type.
We are going to see both of our moms today. First to take DMIL her lunch and a little visit. I'll take her a couple cookies I made yesterday and then to see my mom as she had her oil changed last week and the technician told her a list of things that need to be done. Well, DH doesn't trust those people and wants to do some looking for himself. He knows how they prey on little old ladies. Now all this has her worried and she wants to jump right in and get everything done for $$$. Hopefully DH can put her mind at rest on some of the things.
Trunk or Treat went well yesterday and was fun to see quite a few of the students I had years ago. DD & DSIL brought Penny & Teddy...so I got to see them too. The weather was perfect for it.
Have a great day everyone......

Good Morning Ladies - - - It's 31 and cloudy - the sun sure has been scarce around here lately! So many gray days. Nothing planned for the day here - I do have the pork hock cooking so will be making the bean soup - the beans have been soaking overnight. It's been a long time since I have used the dry beans, so will see how it go's. I think the hock is all one big one, but maybe it hasn't cooked enough yet to come apart. They were in the frig overnight as well. Mamma, so sorry you got another sand storm - no fun to be out in it. Where can you go when you don't want to go to the dog park? I am doing church on line as well today. Another sleepless night, and didn't start sleeping till after 6. Our service on line is out there so that I can watch it whenever I chose to, which is nice - the radio broadcast is at 8:30. CJ, sounds like Christmas is coming early for you, and all items you will find useful. I am happy you found a place for the mixer to keep it handy and I know you will use it more that way! Dawson's T & T was cancelled - Jen's work was having it your the kids of those that work there - because of the snow they got yesterday - - Dawson had just as much fun bundling up and playing in the snow. He didn't want to come in and it was only 25 out, so to cold to be out all afternoon - - They had gotten him new boots on Fri. Night, so that was perfect timing. Hope your DH can calm your mom with what needs to be done for her car. I hope you all have a nice Sunday.

Another dark and gloomy day with the temp staying in the low 50s! The big freeze will be Monday night when the temps drop to low 20s. Not anxious to see that happen.
Mamma, nothing or, anyplace is perfect! I wish for those warm sunny days but I sure Don't want the wind. We already live in one of the windiest places in the state.Yum on the cookies.
CJ sounds like you have found a handy spot for the mixer, no carrying is about just slide it around to the place you want. I'm so happy you are pleased with it and I'm sure it will get lots of use mmmm good smells coming form your kitchen already!
Greenback, sure wish I could sleep late or maybe just sleep thru the night would be good. I usually sleep 4 to 6 hours! Kids will enjoy the snow no matter when it comes.
The family that we thought might be moving in with us have found a house! PTL Many times God only asks that we be willing to do what he puts before us. He doesn't always require us to do that thing. Our garage and carport are filling up with more to come. people are so very generous to donate to this event. Some people have just given money saying they won't be able to come to the sale.

CJ, I'm happy for you that your new mixer fits so perfectly. I have a red cover for mine as well. Not all techs take advantage of people that really don't understand.
Jane, my mom used to make pork hocks with sauerkraut. Mmmmmmm. Mandy and I just go to the end of the street and she has to go potty in rocks, it's much closer. This afternoon I'll have to coax her to go in the back yard since the wind has gotten stronger. I'm so sorry that you didn't sleep well. The link to my MN church was wrong and the one for my Yuma church wouldn't work. So no church for me today.
Grammy, yes, no place is perfect, but I wouldn't live anywhere else. I love it here. I'll take the wind and heat over snow and cold. PTL, the family found a place to live.
Cookies are done and taste tested. Dishes are done and the kitchen is all cleaned. I even got the 6 pieces of ironing done that have been on the back of my computer chair for the last few days. My work for the day is done.

Mamma, DH use to say pork hocks were one of his favorite meals - smoked or not, didn't matter, mashed potatoes with butter and Kraut! This one seems to be cut funny, so glad I am using it for soup - I just pulled it to cool a bit before I take the meat off the bone and put back in. Pass the cookies please. Grammy, that is wonderful news that the family found a house - so happy for them and you too, as it would have disrupted your family life as well and I'm sure they are happy to be alone too!

A nasty dreary day here. Some rain too No sun & only in the 50's I'm glad Tinker & I got to sit out a few hours yesterday. That was the last of that. I've been busy today. Took me awhile to get the new soup recipe going in my crock pot. Didn't finish the cleaning. Oh well
Jane I made a pot of bean soup a few weeks ago. I make mine in the crock pot. Easier than standing in front of the stove all afternoon with that crazy sensor.
Mamma That sand storm must be awful.

Well, darn it, lost my post. It's a Purple kind of day, the Vikings beat the Packers. I know Nancy would be wearing her boa if she were still with us. There is still some snow on the deck, but it is dwindling in the yard. It'll be a busy week with all week being scheduled so far, a concert by a cousin on Saturday and #1/DIL here, working from home for a few days. I made a hot dish today and had the Yeti invite his folks over to watch the game (I really. didn't care who wins ) but figured MIL would be bummed as the Yeti's sister is going back to Florida today. She goofed up her ticket-it had ground service on it. So, she got a flight from FL to Minneapolis and a BUS to Fargo. Hmmmm, she used to be a travel agent? I keep my mouth shut regarding a lot of stuff, it's easier that way. Hotdish=chopped and sautéed about 1/2 of a larger onion, added some garlic, then put in about 2 cups each of peas/carrots and corn (that I had frozen), then about 1 c of mushrooms chopped roughly. Mixed two cans of cream of chicken soup with about 1/2 c of milk, added some spices. Added that to the veggies and added two lg cans of chicken. When I put it in the casserole dish, I put some pieces of cream cheese about the size of a grape in and covered with the "goo." It was all covered with a sheet of refrigerated crescent roll dough that I flattened on a piece of parchment paper and pinched together, then baked it til browned. It was really good. I also made corn muffins to go with it as well as a chocolate cake for dessert. I'll have leftovers for lunch this week. 1st, Title 1, K, K and K, this week. I do need to go upstairs and find something that I need to take with me tomorrow.
Yesterday really got away from me, I did go to a craft show though and bought a few things for the baby~possibly to "borrow" the pattern for. I got three burp cloths and three bibs and if you bought a total of six you got a seventh for free. So, nice sized and the bibs were snaps not velcro and for $10 I couldn't beat it. I know I'll be going to several showers, so may as well start gathering things now. Since we don't know what the gender is, I am going neutral. I saw some things at Target that are really cute and I know that they plan to register there, so that's a good idea.
That seems to be all I know about most things, so I'll check back and see if anyone is around. Blessed be.
