Goodmorning grannies, another cloudy, dark and dismal day but no rain in the picture for today. We don't need rain but I sure would like a little sunshine. The temp is 47 and staying in the 50s for several days!
I'm ready for church a little early so I just dropped in here. I see that IC has been here and unlocked the door. Where's the coffee??? I'm ready for a second cup. I do l like fish maybe I could get a fish sandwich for lunch.
I should get dum me of the year award! I have a small clock on the table by my chair. Last night it got bumped and fell to the floor and stopped! Oh no! I hoped it wasn't broken but I hated the restarting process. I fumbled about to find the instructions for starting. Well what a surprise to read the first part of the instructions. Set the time zone...then wait for it to connect with the atomic clock and it should search and find that and start with the correct time. Well duh! Guess that shows me that I shouldn't skip reading any part of the instructions! I have hd this clock for about 15 years and always thought I had to go thru the whole manual restarting process when changing batteries or any other change. Now I know how simple it is to make those change.
Time to comb my hair fix my face and get ready to leave

Good Sonday morning to all. It is dreary here and was yesterday, too, but we do need the rain we have gotten. It is so good to be home! I asked Mike this morning what time we needed to head back to IL this afternoon--he just looked at me and laughed. The to-do list is overwhelming right now, but it will get done, just not as fast as I want it done. We have everything unloaded and most stuff put away, but now need to tackle getting things decluttered and cleaned out. I have put aside things that I want the girls to look at before I decided to donate or sell them. I don't need all the pots and pans, kitchen utensils, etc., that I have collected from having two households for the last six years. We also have a recliner to sell now as we don't have room for three in the basement. We, of course, didn't know Mom would pass away this summer and had let her use our power recliner and bought another one so that we could have two at the apartment in IL. Now, we have three and don't need one. We are currently disagreeing about which one to sell, but one will be going.
Since we've been home, we have been to a basketball game for Drew, a football game for Emmett (both Drew's team and Emmett's team won!) got the rental truck returned, shopped for a "new" truck for Mike, ran lots of errands, including trying to get the jewelry I got from Mom and Dad appraised--I don't want to sell it, just wondering how much things are worth when I go to divide it. With all the talk of the high price of gold, etc., it sure didn't seem to be worth what I thought it might be. There's not much, Mom's wedding ring set, a 100-year old ruby ring of my great aunt's, Dad's service award pins and watchbands from his employer--those gifts they so highly tout as being precious metal and gem stones, are highly exaggerated, by the way. Regardless, everything is precious to me and we learned a little bit about gold. The jeweler told us to take a magnet and place on the jewelry in question. If the jewelry is attracted to the magnet, it is not pure gold. Some of what I had were 10K gold, other things were just gold plated. I do treasure a gold plated compact that I got from Mom. It was the first gift Dad ever gave her, the Valentine's Day of the year they met. It is an Elgin compact and has a deer on the front and he had it engraved "To Betty, Love Charles". That would have been 1955 or 1956.
Jane, I am so very, very thankful for your indeed red-letter worthy news about your health. HALLELUJAH! PTL! That is such wonderful news and I am so very happy for you!
Just about time to get ready to go to church. We decided on just church again this week and not Sunday School. I have secured a much sought-after reservation for us at the Pioneer Woman's Boarding House in Pawhuska, OK, next Sunday, so we didn't want to join the class again just to miss the next Sunday. The Boarding House is always booked up over a year ahead, but they often get cancellations and, after days (weeks?) of checking the site every day, I saw and opening on October 22 and snagged it. We wanted to do some sort of little getaway before Mike's surgery and to celebrate the end of another successful job and this seemed a good way to do it.
Wishing all a wonderful day.

Good morning. Mandy and I have had our walk to the pet area and now I'm having my second cup of coffee. There may be a third this morning as well as an extra cookie.
As you all know I've been having a rough time for the last who knows how long. Yesterday I just let the grieving go and wailed like a cat with its tail in the door. That lasted for over an hour. I just couldn't pretend to be strong and hold back any longer. I know it won't be the last time, but it felt good to just let go for once. I'm at the edge this morning so won't be going to my Yuma church. But I'll still have online church with my MN church.
Nothing planned unless I do the dusting, which doesn't take long, and clean the bathroom.
Warmer today and all next week back into the low 100's. I so hoped that we were done with those highs. I am thankful for the cool mornings and nights though. And very thankful for my a/c.
Grammy, those type of clocks are wonderful. Too bad they all aren't like that. Nice that it didn't get broken too.
Blessing to all.

Good morning! It's a cool one out there and a little breezy but that is part of life, right?
Got back from vacation late afternoon yesterday. We started our vacation driving in rain and ended it by driving in rain. In between was beautiful though. A little cool but still pleasant unless you count the ride on the ferry going to NJ but coming back I didn't think it was as bad. Also, our last night was very cold in the house. We didn't know how to set the heat, a new device none of us had seen before. LOL, after we got up in the morning to 51* in the house, we figured it out.
The first house we were at was in a quaint little town. Harvesting had begun of soybeans and corn and trucks were going past the house for 16-17 hours a day. It didn't bother me but one of the sisters was bothered by it. Just fields and fields of them. Wow.
We have decided next year to just take off and travel. I think we are going west. Iowa was mentioned to go that far and then return. I don't know about that, but time will tell. I want to see Lake Erie. Never have and other than that I'm along for the ride. I hope we all stay in good health that we can all go.
Not much planned for today. I got up and cleaned the bathroom, last load of laundry is in the dryer. When it comes out and is folded and put away, we will make a trip to town for water and hot sausage rolls. Not sure what else will jump in the cart. Then the rest of the day is mine to sit and read. Well, I will have to make the hot sausages but that shouldn't be too hard. Maybe I'll even get a nap in. Vacation aftereffects are starting to happen.
Have a fun day and will be talking to you all later.

Good morning, It is chilly here and I may have to turn the heat on. I’m having oatmeal for breakfast, but first I cleaned my refrigerator inside and out and moved it and cleaned the floor. The rest of the day I will just chill out I guess because now I am worn out. Debbie, did you see the picture of Elijah? Jane I am so glad the news you received from your doctor. I remember when you first started going for this. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Mama, my hardest time is in the evening. My husband always enjoyed watching TV. After he retired from the Navy, so he would stay up late and watch some thing, especially if it was sports. He was my guardian angel, and I could lay down and sleep like a baby. But I’m glad he is suffering no more. Take care. I love you and I will be back later.

Carolyn, Elijah is adorable. Thanks for sharing the picture. Mark and I didn't watch much tv together, our tastes were so very different. But afternoons we did a lot together so that is the worst part of my day.
The visiting pastor at my MN church was too boring to listen to so I decided to go to my Yuma church. At least Pastor Clint keeps you awake and thinking. hehehe The music on the other hand needs vast improvements. I usually just sit and listen, even though I love to sing. The music is too hard to follow even with the leaders.
There were still two meals of turkey, dressing and gravy in the freezer so I took one out for supper tonight. I'll just have a tossed salad for lunch.

Good Morning Ladies - - - I'm a little late getting here today. we had coffee and treats after the service in honor of the church's 135th Anniversary and the 35th Anniversary of Pastor Bryon's ordination. The Sunday School kids sang a few songs and the wife of the former pastor gave some history of the congregation and another lady did a brief question/answer presentation for Pastor Bryon. Then on my way out, I ran into one of Daren's friends in the parking lot and he was wondering how things were going for them and we had a nice chat. No stop at Ks today - maybe later I will run down, will wait and see. IC enjoy your fish tonight and have a good day. Grammy nice to be ready early and have a few leisure moments. Glad you found your time saver on the clock. Debbie, Glad you are back into seeing the grands activities - although you really did a good job of that even when you were gone. Thanks for the good wishes from you, and all the other gals as well, for my cancer journey.. Now, if I just was more steady and could walk decent. I had pastor bring communion to my pew today - hated to do that, but I just was not very steady and I hate holding up the line too. He brought it back to anther guy behind me, who is much younger, but he had been fighting a brain toumer for some time now. I feel so bad for him and his family. do one of the girls need a recliner? Have a great time next week on your outing. Mamma, let it out when you have those bad days - sometimes it's the only answer, and then you can pick up and go on again. The days can be long and hard, and you need to do whatever helps you through the hardest of them. Glad you and Mandy are enjoying your early morning walks. I came home and made a cup of coffee here too, as I know it's always decaf at church. Wanda, glad you and the gals had a good trip -- Now remember, when you head out next year for Iowa, I am only in 20/25 miles depending on which bridge you cross. I would love to have you stop in or meet you somewhere. Carolyn, that sure is a cute little guy that comes to visit you. I bet you noticed a big change when you got back from your trip.

Good Afternoon....
It's been a hide and seek day with the sun. It started out sunny, then got cloudy around noon, then back to some sun...now it's cloudy and gray. No rain today but the temps were in the low 50's. Not a bad day.
We went to visit DMIL. She was so happy to see us as DH's brother had been taking her lunch meal to her every day last week. I think DH will be doing every day this week to even things out....LOL She seems to be doing pretty good and not complaining too much about physical therapy...although she did say she doesn't think it is helping her. In fact it makes her sore all over.
DH had a great time and is already planning a trip back next year and taking me. We'll see if it happens. I would like to go see my kids but that doesn't seem to be first on his list.
I got all my cactus' in the basement bedroom and they fit good. Now I just hope that big spider I saw when they were outside isn't still living in there.
Hope everyone is having a good day......

Good afternoon--back from church, lunch with DMIL and a stop at Aldi's. I am going to try a new crockpot chicken dish for supper tomorrow night and I needed a couple of ingredients. If it is a good one, I will post it on the recipe thread.
Carolyn, your Elijah is such a handsome boy, I can see why you are smitten with him! Is he always called Elijah? Our Elijah has been Eli since he was born--except when he is in trouble with his mom, of course--LOL!
Jane, I have asked both girls about the recliner and neither of them seem to be interested. Now as soon as I offer it for sale to someone else, that will probably change--LOL.
I have made it through one rod of my closet and have such a pile on the bed to get rid of that it is shameful. But, lots of it is from when I still worked and, come January, that will have been four years now. Think I may offer some of it as a "closet clean-out sale" as some of my friends do on Facebook and what doesn't go quickly will get donated.
Going outside to check the walnut crop now. I think I will start picking those up this week. Last year was the first year I haven't picked them up in the 19 years we have lived here. I saw yesterday, in California, MO, that they are going for $16.00 a hundred pounds this year.
