Hi everyone, happy Labor Day! It's going to be a pretty day, not too many clouds. and to be 90*. I think today is the last day of the state fair. It's funny that #1 and DIL went to the Minnesota one in the cities w/ some other extended family and #2 and his GF went to the Washington State one on the same day. Far too many people for me in one place, I've only gone to the MN one three times in almost 60 years, so if you average that out I'm good for another 20 years.
Speaking of a lot of people, there were 16 here. Too much food as expected, but good guessing on some and leftovers are always good. Who knew how much the kids would like Mac & Cheese-from a box-whenever they are together like this? All six kids got along well, no big problems except for the girls hiding nephew's phone. I said that I didn't care how it showed up, but it better within five minutes as if I had to go find it I would't be happy, tada! Poof, there it was. But it was funny when the others were getting ready to leave-my great niece told me she'd picked up the part of a game she'd play with and the other (BIL's) girls were playing with it after she was done. They said they were ready to go and she asked if they'd picked up-yes, she then said she'd put her part away, so did they put their part away-yes. Just before they left the youngest one had to make a quick trip to the basement. *Just went and checked the basement, picked up a few things, but I am going to talk to them about NOT needing to go in the closets, especially #2's room, absolutely no need for that.  *
The pup came up missing for a bit, I looked everywhere called the neighbor, drove around, my nephew and nieces were all looking. She'd gone to the neighbor's house-Dad dog-and went into his kennel and through the dog door into the garage. She was fine, all she needed to do was go back out the way she came in, but if I recall, there is always a big dish of food in there so I'm sure she was happy as can be. What a booger!
All of the dishes are done, just need to put big stuff away, the washer is running and I am going to sit on my butt for a while. There'll be coffee after the Yeti makes it. The button on the side of the pot got bumped, so the pot he started didn't happen. I was getting it set up w/ new grounds and going to put in water but not shut the top to start it and it was "mansplained" to me how to do it. The pot is sitting empty next to the maker, it can sit there 'til a hot place gets chilly. 'Tis lemonade for me. I can out stubborn anybody.
How fun would it have been for everyone to come over?! The loons were especially chatty yesterday and the weather was cooperative. School starts here for the other schools tomorrow statewide. Blessed be!

Goodmorning grannies, it's a beautiful morning with lots of sunny, clear sky and temps already at 77* going to low 90s again. Cool down is on the way and will be here in a couple of days.
Laurie, my day couldn't get started without coffee! Sounds like you had a good day with family and we know too much good food goes with that! Glad the escape artist was found safe.
Yesterday was off to a different start! First stop was at Urgent Care for me. I had a UTI that wasn't getting better. I know when I take the first pill I begin to feel better. Then a wait at the pharmacy finally on our way. One pill and the urgency and frequency are gone. No problems the rest of the day! Lots of food and a good time with family! Dggs will soon be 3years old and looks like he will be a football player Just a big kid! The new siding on the the house looks great!
Company coming here today, friends from their church. DD just came to ask if it would be Ok to eat down here. Of course it's ok. There will be a wheel chair bound teen and this is the best place for the W chair. I do have a large dinning room table that doesn't get used much now.
Not much for me to do today, the cleaning lady will be down to give the bathroom a little spruce up and that will be the extent of the work today

It's already quite uncomfortable out there. Glad I turned the a/c on last night.
Lauriet...never a dull moment at your house..LOL
Grammy...oh my...the UTI is what did my DMIL in. Glad you caught it before it got worse. Should be a nice time around your big table today.
Not much of anything is going to happen today...well, I do have laundry going, but that's inside...so that's okay. Tomorrow we will have the kids. Anxious to see what new things Teddy is saying and doing. He changes so much from week to week. And, of course, Miss Penny....she will be a chatterbox, telling me all she did up north. Can't wait to see them. One month from today Teddy will be 2.

Going to be hot & humid here all week. I have some blinds closed so the sun doesn't come in to make it hotter in my apartment. Not doing much today I have to make the macaroni salad today. The salad & a hamburger are my Labor Day meal. Not swiffing the floors since Christina comes tomorrow.
Grammy UTI are the worst. Glad your starting to feel better.

Good Morning Ladies - - - Not much new here this morning and it will most likely be that way on lots of days. It's 79 now, but I haven't been outside since I got home on Fri.. night. Yesterday it got very warm, so good to stay put. Today I will get the table set and things lined up for the coffee gals tomorrow. Sometimes I make my egg bake the day before, but I think I will just do it in the morning and it will be easier for me, not having to put it in and out of the frig. My fruit will need to be done tomorrow morning as well - - I am having apples, banana's and grapes in Cool Whip. My mom use to make this a lot when I was growing up, but of course in those days, it was real whipped cream. I may put some pecans in too. She would usually add some celery, but I guess since I am wanting a fruit dish, I won't do that, even though I just got some.
Laurie, sounds like a successful party last night - of course it's always too much fun, but then that makes for an easy day today. Daren grilled hot dogs one night and I always enjoy those on the grill, since I haven't used my grill for a couple of years. He smoked pork loin while I was there too.
Grammy, glad you got that little problem taken care of so you could enjoy the day - nice to see that DGGS again. What color is the new siding? Will the wheelchair come in through your patio door? It's been a busy weekend for you.
CJ, I know you will be anxious to see the kids and catch up with them again. How can they grow and change so much in such a short time.
IC, I bought the celery thinking I might want to make a mac, pea, celery and tuna salad - so will see if I do that - I did one earlier this summer and really enjoyed it.

Happy Labor Day everyone. It's 81* already and the sun is warm. I need to put some water in the bird bath. There's a lot of birds drinking, bathing and splashing in it. I woke up early morning, made a trip to the LGR then back to bed. The next thing I know it's 8:30. So a slow moving morning for me but I've got the rest of the day to do nothing. LOL There's nothing going on here today so I'll see what I can do to keep my mind busy. DD said she might "pop in" and I do expect to see her. Nothing more than that at this point.
LAURIE Today should be a day of total rest for you. Love the "escape dog" stories. LOL
GRAMMY You was very wise in taking care of the UTI at the early stage. Thank God I've never had one and pray I won't! Your little home will be bursting with a lot of laughs, conversation and good food! I know you'll enjoy each person and moment. Isn't it great to see the GGC to have their own homes and be doing well. I'm still hoping to be a GGM....LOL
CJ It doesn't seem possible that Teddy will be 2 already. Is that going to be the "terrible 2's?" LOL And I love how you enjoy the DGC and they love you too. Nothing much going on here today either. Wish we lived closer!
ICOOK I'm thinking a hamburger will be my meal today too. Not sure yet, we'll see. Lunch will be light but the burger might be tonight. Closing the blinds does help keep the heat out. I just like light so I seldom close the blinds except when it gets dark outside.
CAROLYN Do you have an early flight and how long is it? You can take some good memories home with you and your toe is better than it was when you got to your family. Be safe!
GREENBACK You seem to have all the food plans in place! and it does sound very good. How's the leg today? I hope it's better each day and soon will be back to normal for you. The heat seems to be in all of the GN. I went out for a short time this a.m. It wasn't too humid but the sun sure is hot.

What a beautiful morning. Low humidity, 75º, sunny and a gentle breeze. It felt so good sitting outside chatting with Mike and Patty for awhile. Mandy enjoyed her time in the pet area running with two other dogs on the other side of the fence. I know it won't stay like this for long but I"m loving it right now. The door to the craft room is open for some fresh air too. A high today of 97 and I hope that the dew point drops as the temp goes up. The coffee this morning is going down nicely since it's not so h & h. I think I'll even have a second cup. 
Yesterday neither Jill or I texted or saw each other but one text in the morning. Last night when I took Mandy out I saw her come home from a meeting so I stopped to say hi. We both agreed that we really need our friendship. Just that little chat felt good to both of us. Her depression set in as did my loneliness. Yep, we do a lot of good for one another. Everyone needs a good friend and I am all she has and I like having someone to do go places with. We have so much fun. Now I'm going to run over to Mike and Patty's and give them a hand with cleaning out their shed. I'm so blessed to have a couple really good friends here.
I've got a grocery order coming shortly. It's not much but what I need added up to $35 quickly. So free delivery. Maybe I can get some dusting done today. LOL No other plans, just another day of the week for me.

MAMMA Your weather sounds good! and not to different from mine when you posted but it's heating up here. What high humidity for you? I'm so happy for your friends. It is a God thing that puts us together. This has been kind of a downer week for me too. Is it in the air? LOL Enjoy the day.

Elle, our dew point right now is 54 which is still high for Yuma. Our normal is below 30 so anything above that is uncomfortable to us. It's what a person gets used to. Yes, it is a downer week. (((BIG HUGS))). Yesterday I was in tears a good part of the day. Jill and I really need each others friendship. Both of us are alone and she suffers from depression and anxiety. And I am lonely to say the least. She said she has never smiled so as much as she has since we became friends. Finally we both have a friend down here that we can share and do things with. It has made a big difference in my attitude as well. You are lucky you have a close family. All I have is Lincoln and my sister in law. Ok I have one cousin that cares about me. No other family.

I'm working on the macaroni salad. Needed to sit a few minutes to rest my back. I can't stand to long anymore.
Elle I had an eggplant sandwich for lunch. My hamburger will be tonight.
Mamma I'm glad you have Jill for a friend. I have Delores right across from me. We both lost our DH in less than three months.

MAMMA The humidity here is 50% and that's low for us. The temp says 92*. I truly am blessed to have family and friends that are always here...but, I know you understand this too, there's still a hole in the heart. But, I know there's coming a day when that will be no more! Thanks for sharing.
ICOOK My lunch was a Jimmy Dean sausage, cheese and egg croissant sandwich. I got up late so it was my breakfast and lunch. LOL I'm thinking a hamburger for supper too. That's traditional for labor day with me.

Mmmm, mmmm, good. I had a fried pork steak and a baked potato for lunch. Man oh man, did that hit the spot. I prefer pork steak to pork chops because I like some fat on the pork oh and I gotta have a bone in there too. That is what gives the pork flavor and makes it not so dry. As a rule I don't like pork, too dry and too much like chicken. hehehe
The dishes are done and most are dried and put away. I need a couple things to finish my two candle things. So I want to make a trip to the $Tree and hope that they have what I need. I'll see if Jill wants to come along.
PTL, our dew point has dropped to 50º now, the temp is 90 but not much of a breeze. Good day to get out of the house. Maybe even take Mandy for a short walk, hehehe. Still too hot for me to walk anywhere but to the car. LOL
Laurie, I've only been to the MN state fair once and maybe when I was little. And I agree, way too many people. Crowds put me in a stressfully bad mood. Mac and cheese from a box? Nope never.
Grammy I'm so glad that the UTI pain and "go" subsided. I take high doses of cranberry and have not had a UTI since. I used to get them far too often.
CJ< those little ones sure to change and grow up so quickly. Wow, Teddy will be two already??
IC, I'm starting on potato salad for tomorrow. I'll see if Jill wants to come over for sloppy joes and potato salad. That will be my Labor Day meal. hehehe
Jane, my mom often made fruit cocktail, bananas with whipped cream. Mark loved it so I made it often for him. I think the fresh fruit would be better. I like yours. Fruit cocktail is not on my like list.
Time to clean up and head to the store. Jill just texted me and said she is working with her flowers and cleaning. So I'll go alone.
