Good Morning....
It's down right cold this morning. I think it will be a jeans day. I haven't worn jeans at all this summer. I hope they still fit..LOL...with all the ice cream I've been eating. Crazy weather. Next week we will see the 90's again.
Today will be a stop at DD's to check on the cats and make sure the one isn't stuck behind a closed door. I was going to go yesterday and forgot. Then we'll head to Costco and see what falls in the cart..LOL
Greenback...hope you are doing better today. I'm sure you are ready to be back home in your own house.
Haven't heard from Debbie in a few days...did she say she was going to be gone somewhere?
Have a great day everyone.....

Good morning to all. It is a beauty of a day here and my morning walk was quite enjoyable even though it has been several days since I've walked.
I've been out of touch because Mike gave me quite a scare health wise Saturday. He woke up and immediately started chilling, which led to shakes, which led to tremors so bad that he was almost shaking out of the recliner where I had him covered up under all available blankets. His fingertips went white and ice cold and he started throwing up. When I suggested going to the ER, the only thing he said was hand me my pants, so I knew he was sick.
Long story short, he was severely dehydrated, confirmed a fever, has a significant UTI, his electrolytes were, according to the doctor "wonky" and a CT scan revealed some kidney concerns. The ER doctor very much wanted to admit him, but he insisted he was going home and signed out against medical advice. They did start him on an antibiotic, but were unsure about the amount as strong antibiotics could exacerbate the kidney concerns. They also gave him fluids and a med for nausea.
We made it home with me driving and him sleeping most of the way. His urologist was on call Saturday night and I was able to talk to him. He wanted a urine culture and said to call his office on Monday morning, tell them we had talked to him, and get an appointment. Sunday, we laid low and he just pretty much sat on the porch all day.
Monday, we went to the doctor and they are doing a urine culture and in the meantime they said to keep the same antibiotic at the same dose until the culture results come back. He is also to go back for lab re-checks in two weeks. He barely made it back home from Columbia before he needed a nap and slept a good part of the afternoon--all completely unlike him.
Yesterday, he felt considerably better and we drove back to IL late afternoon and he is at work this morning with instructions from his doctor, his boss, and his wife to take it easy, drink when he should and more than he thinks he needs, and to eat small meals throughout the day. Only working today through Friday as he is getting Saturday and Monday off for Labor Day. We will have to drive back up here on Monday, but at least he won't be working for a few days. And, the weather is much better today than it has been.
The contractor and the utility company, and they have to follow their schedules, were so intent on getting things done on the job last week that even though they decided to start work early to beat the heat, instead of getting off early, they ended up working 11 and 12 hour days rather than the usual 10 hour days! And, many days, they had the most arduous work starting in the middle of the day rather than in the early morning hours! With some underlying issues for Mike, it just was a perfect storm for him to get sick.
Since this job is wrapping up early, he has been offered another short term job in another location in IL with a significant raise in salary for the duration of that job and he had been seriously considering it, however, I think this will change that for him. We will be on the hook for a little over a month's rent here at the apartment since the job is wrapping up early, but it is what it is and, even though the extra money would be most welcome, I think it is time to go home. I know he scared me and I also know he scared himself.
Jane, I am so sorry to read about your fall(s) and hope you can regain some strength or find out what is going on with your knee. I am glad your DS, DDIL, and Dawson are taking such good care of you! Enjoy your extra time with them despite the circumstance.
Time to get a few things done here. Wishing all a good day.

Good morning. Up early because a crack of the wind hitting the house sounded like a car hit. But it's just terribly windy and so humid I could hardly breath. OMG, what horrible weather for today. I was going to head to WM with a return, but not in this wind. I may go to the UPS just down the road if I feel like struggling to breath. Otherwise I'll not leave the house other than to take Mandy out this afternoon.
One load of laundry in the washer. Some things need to go on the line but not sure they will dry even in the wind. And I'll be setting the a/c lower today to combat the humidity more than capture cold. I'll be so glad when August is over. Yes I know, that means closer to snowbird season.
CJ, Good luck at Costco. Maybe you need a safety net over the cart. LOL Ice cream has been my down fall too.
IC, Always ac here. Stay cool.
Carolyn potato soup sounds good, but no meat in it please.
Ok, I'm sure today is Wednesday. LOL

It's a cooler day here, highs in the lower 70's. We had some rain last night but it didn't last long. I haven't accomplished anything much so far and I will meet with the coffee friends this afternoon. Do you have plans for Labor Day? I don't have anything planned but open to the family if they say something.
CJ Did you find the kitty? I hope the two of them are ok. What specials jumped in your cart at Costco?
ICOOK No a/c here today either. I enjoy not having it or the furnace running. So nice to open the windows. Are you going back to the dentist soon?
CAROLYN It's feeling like soup weather here! I really like potato soup. I have the ingredients for veggie soup but not in the mood to make it yet. Stay dry and I hope you're enjoying time with your family.
DEBBIE Oh my! what a scare you and Mike had and are praying for his health and healing. Give him a strong word that his health is more important than the job and money! He has a wife and family who love and need him more than anything. There's a lot of living to do with family. Don't take this as sarcasm, but from knowing the emptiness and loneliness of loss of a loved one. I know your faith is real and you're in my prayers.
MAMMA You would freeze if you was here. LOL Right now it's 67*, so compare that with yours and I'll keep mine. How many cards do you have made? I've admired each one you've shared pictures of.

Hello. I stayed in bed longer today and was awake,, but was comfortable so I stayed there. I'm out on the deck and the fresh air is nice, but will be out of shade before to long. It's harder to see on the tablet inthe sunshine. Debbing, like CJ, I was missing you to, but knew you were going to the visitation and then the weekend, so didn't e one concerned until yesterday. Monday I thought you just neededto catch up. Prayersfor Mike, and I think it might be best to go home now. Hopefully this caught the attention of the boss and learned a lesson about working the guys so hard in the heat. Im just going to wave since it's hard to see out here.

Elle, I've never counted all my cards. Maybe I should. I've got some bagged up as gifts too.
Jill sent me a text wanting to go out for a late lunch. She is craving a baked potato. hehehe So no cooking for me. Jill likes to eat out as much as Mark did. And she doesn't do expensive either. Much to my delight. I'm really hungry but have to wait a couple more hours to eat. Maybe a little snack before. I have some apple slices that should hold me over.
I've made a couple cards this morning and washed two loads of clothes. No more work today, I'm done. The dew point has not dropped much at all, and it's getting hotter. Not a good day out there. But it's still better than snow and -10º. I don't think I could handle that anymore. No clothes for that weather either.
PS. I just counted the cards I have in the house.....there are 98 greeting cards. I can't remember how many I've sent out. My guess would be that I made close to 120 cards...so far.

It's cloudy and chilly today temp is only 67 and the day is almost over! Only a few quick peeks at the sun.
Debbie I had been missing you also and was about ready to send out a search party! That sure was a scare for both you and Mike. A warning to pay attention to the weather report. So glad to hear that everything turned out OK for him. Extra work and $$ can be a good thing but health is more important.Maybe it's time to think retirement and some fun things to enjoy while you both have good health. All too soon age and sickness take over these bodies.
Greenback nice to be able to spend some extra time with your family so relax rest and enjoy the extra days with family.
This grammy is tired now, it was Bible Study this morning then a friend came home with me for lunch. we both love shrimp so we had shrimp cocktail for lunch. These are huge shrimp I have a couple left for my supper. All is quiet here, family will be returning later tomorrow and things will change.
Time for me to move to the other chair and see if Kindle will move over to make room for me

Debbie...wow...that sure was scary. Your description sounded a lot like what happened to my mom at the golf course. Dehydration can really play havoc on your body and cause so many other things. Glad he is ok and on the mend. I agree with the others....time to think permanent retirement so you can enjoy doing things together. My dad always said the golden years aren't so golden....so you need enjoy before things might change.
Our Costco trip was good. Not too much jumped in the cart that shouldn't be there...LOL DH was the one picking up snacky stuff. But we only go there maybe once every 3 months. So the snacks are okay.
After Costco, we went to Panera for lunch. I had a gift card to use. Well, everything I planned to get, they were out of ingredients for it...same with DH. The salad I wanted, they didn't have the lettuce...the soup I wanted...they were out...the sandwich, which was a chicken avocado wrap...didn't have avocado. So ended up with something I really didn't want and it wasn't very good at that. Doubt we will be going back any time soon. I still have a couple gift cards (from my preschool days). Not sure when they will get used.

I'll be turning off the AC tonight Dew point is dropping which means cooler temps. Going to be nice for a few days I like the doors & windows open Tinker likes the doors open She goes on the back porch or looks out the front. She lays on a pillow on the love seat. Heat & humidity return next week so AC will be working again.
Debbie I'm glad Mike is starting to feel better. I know he scared the heebie gebbies out of you. I'm sure he'll listen now when the weather is so hot
Elle I see the oral surgeon tomorrow for a recheck on my gum surgery. I can't see my regular dentist till the oral surgeon gives the OK.

Hi all, I've been here several times today and realized I started to say something and then didn't. Debbie, glad to hear Mike is feeling better. How did your visit to the manager go? Jane, take it easy, stay longer if you want to, enjoy your time with your crew. I've gone through some more boxes that made the move, that could've stayed elsewhere. Three empty ones in the basement to go in the recycling. Maybe I'll put clothes in them when I clean out the closet and get rid of them that way. The Yeti's fishing trip changed, from going near Milwaukee to going to Duluth area. I told him if his dad wants to go with them I will drive his mom to her nail appt tomorrow, but I will NOT be getting my nails done. I can't stand having my feet touched and all.
Mama-if it was only snowy and -10* it would barely be parka weather, that'd be awesome. It's when it's -40* and a worse windchill that I don't like. Ice either, yuck.
