Good morning all, there is coffee and bagels, help yourselves. It was a busy weekend and was nice to sleep in my own bed. When I was at the history center I got a call from the farm, thought it was Al needing something from town. He'd gone out to check the cows-all was fine there, then checked a fence while out there, had to get out a few times to do so. Then his truck over heated, so he started to walk in, got about 3/4 of a mile in-no water with (lots of bottled water in the porch fridge), no cell reception and didn't take his walking stick that he usually has. A guy who traps behind happened to be out there and brought him in and called me, I set a speed record getting there. The guy had decided to go Sat vs Sun, thank goodness! He was sweating (good) and he got him to drink a lot of water slowly (good), got the AC going and fan, and I got him to eat some thing slowly after bit as he'd not had lunch yet. Scared the poo out of me, he could've gotten heatstroke! He didn't want to go in to the dr-I asked many times and was better quickly. So, we skipped church Sat night and went Sun am and I hung out with him through part of the afternoon. Didn't sleep well as I was worried about him and kept listening I knew he was trying to watch a movie through his eyelids, so I headed out. Scared me! When I called last night I told him I forgot to check a ladder into the haymow where the cats eat. Yup, I weigh more than him and broke a rung, but it's ok. Whew!
I went to talk to my brother about some of the lawyer stuff, we need to make some calls today and see where it goes. Besides Mahjong tomorrow and 2nd grade on Friday, I plan to stay home and get something done around here. Last week was crazy busy, so I am glad to take it slow this one. There are things to do that keep getting pushed aside. My SIL is going to Costco tomorrow, but I am playing Mahjong, so won't go with her. It looks like it could rain today, definitely feels like fall. The Yeti said he's the "Medi-van" driver this week as his folks have two appts.
I guess that's it, need to drink my coffee and sit for a bit. Blessed be everyone.

Good morning. Hurricane Hillary really did a number on us. Mandy and I couldn't leave the house all day. The wind was beyond anything I've experienced living down here. The home shook, windows rattled and the awnings were threatening to come off of the house. I lost one lath from one of the south awnings but other than that I sustained no damage to speak of. The desert sand thickly covers everything. It will take a week to clean everything. In town there was a lot of damage and power outages. Some areas in the foothills had damage but here in the park, from what I can see out the window, just one neighbor had the front awning ripped off the window. When I take Mandy down in my sandbox/golf cart, I'll be able to see more. I am so very thankful the God spared us any real damage. It started as very heavy rain on Saturday and by Sunday around 1 the wind was wicked. I couldn't get Mandy out to go potty until around 7 and then she was not happy to have to go to the rocks in the back of the house. Friday I lost power in the craft room and will call an electrician this morning when Mandy and I get back.
A long stressful weekend That I am glad to have over.
Laurie, sounds like you had a lousy weekend too. (((HUGS)))
The table is a clear glass table, the chairs are all white and the floor tiles is blue, well it was until it got covered in desert dirt. Everything outside is covered the same way.

OMG, I am so blessed and so thankful. Mandy and I took a ride around the park to see what kind of damage the storm caused. Carports damaged, skirting ripped off, porch roofs off and thrown. As soon as I'm done with my coffee I'll start on my clean up. I'm lucky all I have to clean up is dirt. PTL

A warming up day and start to the week. I am pretty sure I have gout in my big toe. I've had it once before and it was in several joints. So I'm thankful it's just one toe. I'm not doing much today and trying to keep it elevated, iced and stay off of it. If it gets worse, I'll call my Dr. I researched foods that irritate it and foods that help prevent it so that's interesting. LOL Anyway, I think something with rice will be lunch.
LAURIE A scary time with Al. I'm glad all is ok for now.
MAMMA It's hard to realize all the damage that the weather is doing! And the pictures of all the dust/dirt inside like that. I'm thankful you and Mandy are safe and those who have had damage will get the help they need. Another experience you are facing and you're making it, easy or not!! Hang in there!!!! BTW I love the smiley face!!!

Good Morning Ladies - - - I am in for the day - Just have to hope the AC can keep up for everyone this week here. I spent most of the afternoon yesterday on the phone. First my retired friend called and we talked close to an hour. Then I called Darcy, and we hadn't been talking long when my land line rang. It was the gal that helped me get up when I fell that time, and she never calls, so I told Darcy I would call her back. I really thought she wanted something as that is usually the only time I hear from her, but no, just called to visit and we had a nice visit. Then I called Darcy back. By then, my arm was getting tired! She said they were to lay the floor in the bathroom today. It has gotten to be a long drawn out affair. She said once it's done, she thinks she may want to take a shower every 10 minutes. I closed the blinds on the slider and in the window by me when I am on here. I think by the time this week is over, I may feel like a mole. Laurie, so glad that guy got to AL and then called you when he did. Could have been a much different outcome. Hope he can stay in much of this week. Maybe it's time to get rid of the cows. You will really feel like you are back in the routine when you get to school on Fri. - Hope that you can still have some free days and they won't need you to be there all of the time. Mamma, what a mess, but be thankful that you can clean up the mess and move on. You already know what it's like to start over. Remember also, it doesn't all have to be cleaned up in one day. Take your breaks and don't wear yourself out cleaning.

Good morning grannies, it's a sunshine day with the temp at 84 already! Also it's to be very humid. That will be our weather for a few days. Hot and humid temps im the 90s.
I have been up for a long while but that doesn't mean lots of things got done. Coffee and my book called early so I had to respond to that plea.
Laurie that was a scary time with Al so glad to hear that he is ok now. You are on busy lady with all the things you do! I wonder when you sleep?
Mamma good news that the wind didn't do any serious damage to your place. Cleaning up all the sand will be enough to do! Try to remember it doesn't all have to be done today!
Nothing much on my schedule today other than keep cool. I might get to work sorting thru a stack of paper and deciding if any of it is important enough to keep. Most if not all will go into the recycle bin! Tha will clear my desk!
Almost time for lunch I need to see what looks good then get to work on the paper.

Good afternoon to all on a miserably hot and humid day. I haven't been out since early this morning, but the patio door glass is fogged over because of the difference in humidity between in here and out there. I checked on Mike a bit ago as I hadn't heard from him mid-morning like I usually do and he said he is making it OK; they are all thankful that it is cloudy and the sun is not out in force. They are considering starting at 6:00 in the morning because of the heat. I listen to my local home radio station when I walk each morning and they said a record was set back home yesterday of a heat index of 118! And, it is supposed to be worse each day this week! I know I thought I wasn't going to get all my four miles in this morning, it was just so oppressively humid. But, I stopped partway through and got a bottle of water to take with me as I finished and I made it. I was very glad I had not showered before I walked today as I was not "glistening", I was flat out "sweating"!
I made sure Mike had plenty of water and tea with him when he left and for his lunch I packaged up quite a fw grapes for him, a lunchable, and I rolled ham, turkey and cheese slices around a dill pickle spear and sent him four of those. He didn't eat much at all this morning in anticipation of this miserable day of heat.
I have been slicing, dicing and assembling all morning to have some cool things for him made this week. I made a big ol' macaroni salad and I also made a lettuce and pasta layered salad with all kinds of veggies and diced ham in it. We will have that for supper tonight along with an ear of corn and I am going to make some cheddar/garlic biscuits to go with. I also made up a batch of my homemade microwave cream pie filling, but instead of putting it in a pie shell, I made the filling the plain vanilla flavored, adding banana flavoring along with the butter and vanilla when it was done, and lined four clear plastic cups with a few vanilla wafers I had left and sprinkled vanilla wafer crumbs over the top. I will top the cups with fresh slices of banana when I serve it tonight.
I am awaiting the apartment complex manager and a bank inspector to be here sometime today. I think it must be like IC Cook talks about, they said this is an annual thing and would be brief. They were to start at 10:30, but no one has been here yet, but this is a big complex.
Elle, sure hoping your toe feels better sooner than later! My dad suffered with gout and I know it is quite painful. Don't delay going to the doctor to get something to get you over it faster! I always heard it was from a buildup of uric acid which was linked to red meats and fats.
Laurie, what a scary time for you--and Al! Bless his heart, he is an independent one! So glad that Good Samaritan came along--that was a God intervention for sure! I would hate to think of anyone being stranded in this heat here today!
Mama, also a scary time for you, but it sounds like you fared relatively well compared to others in your neighborhood. I know the sand/dust will bother you until it is fully cleaned up, but take it easy!
Jane, is Darcy doing some remodeling at her place? Seems like contractors are always behind schedule--especially for the homeowner wanting things to be done!
Grammy, very good idea for you to lay low in temps like today's and the rest of this week. We don't want you scaring your DD, DGD, DGGDs and the rest of the family like Al scared Laurie!
I am going to take a quick SSD right now and then go to the pool now that supper is all prepped (except for the garlic biscuits) and chilling in the fridge. I think the pool is a good place to go, maybe the only place one should go, in weather like this! Wishing all a great day!

DEBBIE You take such good care of your husband!!! A Proverbs wife!! I love layered salad and haven't had it in a while. The microwave pudding is the best!! I made the banana pudding a few weeks ago and enjoyed every bite of it. I'm trying to stay off my foot and it actually does seem less painful. Thanks for your concern. Enjoy the rest of the day. Stay cool!!!

Ellie, we were bumping hips in the door again today - Sorry to hear about that toe. Like the others, I think it's good to stay off of it. Grammy, your big job for the day is to stay cool and comfortable. Debbie, yes Darcy is doing a complete gut job on her bathroom - she only has the one, so everything taking so long is not going over very well. She sent me an email this morning saying that the guy she though was coming to lay the floor today, only measured and that's it for the day. I really feel bad for her. She has been working from home mostly since covid hit - still going into the office for once or maybe twice a week, but this is the last week for that as they are going completely remote. She will now have to set up a meeting place to get together with the person that signs the checks. She prints them and another signs for good cross control. She is happy about it, but I think it's good for her to see people a little more often. She is one of the few people I know that still masks up when she go's somewhere and even in her house now when she has someone working in there. I really feel bad for Mike in this heat - I remember how DH was so exhausted in it. He still wanted his coffee though. IC, guess what? I have stuffed peppers in the oven. Should have it going, but my neighbor gave them to me and I didn't want to waste them - I could have froze them, but I didn't have anything for supper and they sounded good.

ICOOK I'm glad you slept in. I do think you needed it since you've had a lot going on. Try to stay cool in the heat!!
GREENBACK It's hard to get a good worker. It seems like they want the job and money, but they come and like you said, do one thing then it's "see you later." Who knows when. I had a worker and they started out so well until they got so far in the job, then it was, adios, see you later. I'm still waiting on some of the work to be done. Well, not really, I've had someone else do some of it and decided I could do without the repair for a while yet.

Supper is over and the dishwasher is loaded, not full, so it will wait, as is the washer. I was trying to get hold of Al but couldn't and I was worried. I got through this afternoon and he said he is feeling fine, I worry about everything it seems. There were a few piddly things that got done around here so that kind of sums up my afternoon and I don't plan to do anything else tonight. The dogs will need to be put in the kennel later, so the Yeti can do that.
