Good Morning....
Starting out to be a gray day. Don't think we will see any sun for a couple days.

I'm meeting a couple co-workers from the preschool, for lunch, today. We've been trying all summer to find a day that works. Finally today is the day.
DMIL is doing really good. We are hoping by the end of the week, she will go back to her little apartment. Last night when we went to see her, she was really hoping to be leaving the rehab place and going home. I don't blame her. It gets pretty boring just sitting there all day. She has been going for little walks around the halls...so that's good. We've been taking our old photo albums from when our kids were little and vacations we took. She has been enjoying looking through those.
Wishing everyone a great day. Hope it's sunny where you are.

We had a storm last night and hope it cooled things off. It has been super hot. Even with heat warnings. Yesterday When my girl got off work, we drove to Venice. Bought doughnuts then came back to Sarasota and got dinner from Beef o Brady's. It was good. Think we might go shopping today. Hope all of you are doing well. The donut shop is well known in that area I guess.

Good morning, a cloudy day here too and cooler temps too. Yesterday was a boring day, I didn't do anything and didn't want to. LOL Today I'm thinking of getting groceries but they're calling for rain this afternoon so I might delay that. Not sure. My sister will be stopping in shortly to pick up some excess potatoes I have. I just learned last night that the mother-in-law of my niece passed away. Her DH passed just a few weeks before my DH did. I'm not sure what'll I'll be doing today. I will get a sympathy card in the mail and maybe plan some meals for future eating.
CJ Happy news that your DMIL is doing so well. That takes a load off you and your DH. Enjoy time with your co-workers today. That's always a fun time and lots of memories.
CAROLYN You sound like you're having a nice time with your DD and family. Relax, enjoy and savor all the time with them you can. Stay healthy!!

Good morning This morning the dew point wasn't so bad so I let Mandy snoop a bit longer in the pet area. But all she did was stand and stare. Goofy dog. I'll run some errands before it gets too hot so no stopping and staring for me. I"ll be on a mission.
CJ, great to hear the DMIL is doing so well. It seems that the rehab changed her whole attitude. Enjoy your time with friends today.
Elle, I didn't do much yesterday but spend money from my recliner. Online shopping, boredom and a credit card is a dangerous combination. LOL But all were things that I felt I needed. If I change my mind I can send things back too. The thing I wanted most was a table that was higher so my back didn't get so sore sitting doing my cards etc. Back in our apartment in MN, Mark raised a table for me so I could stand and it worked so well. I'll still have the lower one for sewing and such.
My second cup of coffee is done so time to get a move on. There is more in the pot so help yourself, cookies are next to the pot.

Good morning grannies, it's a dark, cloudy morning with rain heading this was in a little while.Temp is 71 and only supposed to go up to 73 today! Can this be mid August!! I had to change my shirt to a sweat shirt!
CJ good to hear that MIL is improving and ready to go home. A get together with former workers is a good thing. Have a good time with them. Time does have a way of slipping by and before we know what happened another year is gone. Spend time with friends whenever possible.
Carolyn, sounds like you are enjoying the time with dd. Soak up all the sunshine you can and save it for a cold snowy day in the winter.
DD came down and collected all my laundry this morning. When I went into the bedroom I discovered that she had taken the clean sheets off my bed! Kathy had helped me change them Sat. I called dd and she said they weren't in the washer she sent them back by Cassandra with instructions to stay and help get them back on the bed. All taken care of now.
Must be time for me to watch the grass grow while I wait for the rain drops to fall

Good Morning Ladies - - - It is 66 and mostly cloudy - the deck was wet when I got up, but I am guessing not much rain, just enough to wet the sidewalk, so to say. I've been to church and back and we came right out so didn't take long to count. Wish it was that easy all of the time. I had a gal from another team as my partner - I suspect that mine is going to be quiting, just by the way she has been talking and then 2 or 3 weeks ago she messaged me that she wouldn't be able to help today as she had a sore back and she would see about Sept. I also had a phone call before I left to see if something had happened to my friend that had the shoulder replacement. She had seen something on FB that she though something must be going on - and I could fill her in on the details. CJ, enjoy the lunch with your friends. I thought that your MIL just sat in her room at the former place too - Maybe her stay her will encourage her to get out a little more. Maybe she just wasn't feeling that good before that she just wanted to stay in, and hopefully is much better now. Carolyn, they do keep you busy down there. Enjoy it all, as it will soon be the time you have deceided to come home again. Ellie, most of my Sundays are lazy days - usually try for a nap and then I talk to DD and yesterday I talked to the gal that came down to sit on the porch on Sat. night. She had just talked to another friend of ours and we have both been very concerned for her. She has deceided that she is old now and tends to see things differently than she use to. The two of us are the ones she talks to most, other than her family, so we see things that others don't. She had covid and a couple of falls that have taken a toll on her.
Mamma, I did a little arm chair shopping - I wanted to get a new bath mat as the rug that I have in front of the shower tend to slid around, after being washed it's backing isn't working good enough that I feel safe - I got a memory foam on, so hope I will be happy with it. Of course, I had to get a couple of things for Dawson too, as he has a BD next month. I had Koh's cash that I needed to use by yesterday and then got a 30% one day only, so was the time to get it. Grammy, good that you caught the sheets in time and had another sweet helper. It sure does make a difference to have a helper with that chore. It's clammy here and cool, but I still have my shorts on - didn't take me long to change once I got home from church.

Hello all. I was outside helping the Yeti to fix the kennel and then figured I'd better pick my beans while I was there. I am looking forward to raised beds next year, even if we could raise the pots it would be nice. There is a dock frame here that we could use, so that's what I want to do. I found a nest out there for some tiny tweety birds, so I'll get a pic when I am out next. Lena wants to play Bemidjiopoly-think of Monopoly, but w/ Bemidji businesses. She kicked my butt yesterday, so if you see a tired cranky person roaming around minus a butt, that'll be me. BBL
Mama-you can buy risers to raise a bed or table, about $5 at WM/per set.

Can I cook wax beans at the same time as green beans?

Laurie, they don't have 12 inch risers. And the ones they do have would never work for the table that I have. Yes, you can cook the two beans together.

Good Monday morning to all. It is very cloudy here after a stormy afternoon and night. We drove back from home yesterday afternoon in such a downpour that we had our flashes on and crept along. I was very glad that this was a time when we were in the vehicle together and not one of the times when we have to travel back in separate vehicles. It quit raining shortly after we got back here to the apartment so we were able to unload the things we had brought back with us. Then, in the very early morning hours, more rain storms, but, like usual, it quit about 6:00 a.m. and now is to be just cloudy all day. Mike thought there might have been so much water left behind from the rain they might call off today, but no such luck. He is glad he has really good Muck boots!
Since we obviously didn't want to stop or get back out in the horrible rain last night for supper, I quickly worked with what I had. I had bought two flatbread pizza crusts on clearance on Saturday and had picked up some chicken breasts on sale that I had oven roasted and then diced and froze. I also had green peppers and red onion on hand. So, I crisped the flatbreads up after brushing them with olive oil and garlic salt, then spread them lightly with ranch dressing, partially cooked the green pepper and red onion slices in the microwave while the flatbread was crisping up and topped the dressing with those followed by Italian cheese, diced chicken and some crumbled bacon (I had some cooked up in the fridge). If I do say so myself, it was delicious!
Tonight's supper will be pork chops in a pineapple soy sauce, rice, broccoli and leftover peach cobbler pound cake.
Got to celebrate DMIL's birthday with her yesterday at lunch after church. DD#2 and her 3 kiddos joined us; her husband was hauling hay that he had bought in the state of Mississippi. So, I got to give the girls their school clothes I had bought them and they seemed excited about them--I know I was excited to give them to them; they were pretty darn cute! Little Josie Mae will start preschool on Monday so she was excited to have "school clothes." Every time she goes pee pee in the potty, she exclaims now I get to go to Miss Tina's (the preschool)!
It was nice to see home, for the little bit we were there. Got home Saturday night at 8:30 and left at 9:30 yesterday morning to head to church, then lunch, then back here to IL. We had gotten 2-1/4" of rain in the last 10 days and the yard was really greening up and growing! And, I know we got more last night.
Carolyn, hope you are feeling better.
CJ, so glad to hear DMIL is improving. Like the other grannies, I sure hope she is happier when she gets back to her apartment.
Mama, grateful for less humid weather for you.
Elle, hope you can get groceries and get back and unload them before it rains.
Grammy, your DD was on the ball this morning! Glad that Kathy could help you remake the bed. Both my mom an DMIL bought an adjustable bed just to alleviate problems they were having with making it.
Jane, of course you need to add a few things for Dawson to your order. That's what a grandma does!
Laurie, hope the skeeters left you alone while you were in the garden picking beans. You are making lots of memories with your great niece.
Time to do something. Think I will make some granola and also going to try a recipe in the new Taste of Home for baklava English muffins. They sound really good. But, drat, I thought I had some walnuts here, but can't find them so need to get those first. The topping also has pistachios; I have already shelled those, but haven't smashed them yet (I don't have a nut grinder up here with me).
Wishing all a marvelous Monday!

Mostly cloudy here too Sun peeps out occasionally Some nasty storms on the way for tonight. When I get off here I'll walk down for the mail before it rains. Haven't gotten mail since last Thursday.
CJ Good news on your MIL Nothing better than going home.
Elle I'm having a lazy day today. I really don't do much during the week with having Christina I do all the dusting. Dry swiff floors on the weekend. Tinker is allergic to house dust so I try to keep dust off the floors as much as I can. I only have a rug in the bedroom.

Debbie, thank you for the recipe. I will make it when I get home. Peaches are my fav. Your pizza sounds good. Today we had meatloaf, mashed potatoes n Pinto beans. The laundry all got done and the house vacuumed and other cleaning. And beds changed. Tomorrow we will run around. With the rainstorm it is much cooler. 😎

Hi again, we were out on the lake for a quick ride after a morning including more Bemidji-opoly and a few other things. Later I need to get laundry off of the line and do a couple of other things. I'll take Lena to meet her mom tomorrow afternoon/early evening. My training is 9-12:30 and the Yeti has to pick up one of BIL's kids at summer school as SIL is at the same training as me. I'll come back here after and then trying to get some things done before the kid swap. Wednesday is getting a bunch of stuff ready for the ladies aid dinner at church, we only have to serve one month a year, so that's ok, best part is that I am not in charge of anything regarding it. I saw that some of the raspberry plants that I transplanted have berries on them, that goes with the gallon of beans I picked this morning. Someone at book club asked if I sold chokecherries that I picked, I told her no, but she can have some, I don't mind picking, it's kind of a brainless activity for me. I don't need to think about anything and usually listen to a podcast when I do it.
