Good morning, GN! It was a stormy early morning here, but it seems to have stopped so, much to Mike’s disappointment, they are working, at least for now.
I am at the apartment workout facility and have done the elliptical and am pedaling on the recumbent bike as I type. Can’t get the TV to work, so thought I would check in with all of you.
Hope IC Cook is still relatively pain free and that everyone has a great day!

Good Morning....
It was a stormy evening here, too. My rain gauge said 2 1/2 inches in just a matter of 15 or 20 minutes. It came down fast and furious. We were under a tornado warning for my county but it was more north of us. Luckily we didn't have much more than just rain. This morning is sunny and very humid.
Yesterday we had the kids, so never made it here. Lots of playing and laughing going on here.
DH & I are getting ready to walk down to the festival. We'll make the walk through and, most likely, won't buy anything...just looking. Then we can say we saw it for another year. LOL
GrammyDebbie...I admire your faithfulness with your walking and exercising. Something I wish I could get back into. I keep saying this winter....we'll see if it happens. DH walks quite often but he doesn't really want me coming along as I walk to fast for him.
Carolyn...hope you are feeling better.
Icook...hoping you are pain free now.
Have a great day everyone......

Good morning, Hot and predicted hotter for here. Thanks CJay, my worse congestion is when I lay down. Guess that kind of makes sense It won't be too terribly long till I can get back to my beloved hills. There I can have doors n windows open until the afternoon. And hold that little sugar baby Elijah. I sure miss him. My DGS bought himself a new car. I am so happy for him. Mamma, hope you don't have too much dust flying around. I remember one of our trips to California we were in a sandstorm in Arizona. Debbie, I wish I had 1/3 of your energy. ICook, I hope you are not too sore. Think I will crochet a while. Keeps my hands busy. Be back later

Good morning. Muggy and cloudy with a little breeze this morning. If the dew point was lower it would be much nicer outside. Mandy has been out and Jills plants have been watered. That is it for my outside until later with Mandy.
Not much of a breeze and too muggy outside so no laundry today. Anything I hang out on the lines will take too long to dry. It would be a good day to wash off the carport concrete, but I am feeling lazy again. Nothing new there. But I do have some cabinets to go through that I've not touched since moving in here. They are not very organized and some things of Carols that I will never use. Time to pack away for the sale this fall.
Yesterday I got two fall candle rings made for upcoming birthdays of good friends. I just need to find cream colored candles for them.
Elle here is a pic of the counter top ice maker I ordered......

Good Morning Ladies - - - It's a very pleasant 76 and sunny and the fresh air is so nice coming in the window - I had to shut them last night when a storm moved through shortly before 10. Lots of thunder & lightening and rained hard and it was all over in about 20 min. I don't know how much rain we got, but I know once I shut the windows and doors, it was really stuffy in here. Not bad once I got in bed though. Debbie, I'm sure you were ready to get an early start back home. Hopefully they won't have to work too late. I agree on how faithful you are to your exercise program. Has the sale of the hams and bacon happened yet? CJ, those little ones can keep you busy. How fun to make a swing through downtown and see what's out there. More than likely run into a few friends to chat with also. Enjoy Carolyn - it sounds like you are anxious to get home again. I understand how you would miss that sweet little baby, and I'm sure you will notice many changes. Mamma, I got one of those ice makers for the kids one year for Christmas when it appeared on the list, only in stainless, but when they were getting ready to move, it was one of the things that didn't make the move. I put in a grocery order when I found out that they had some turkey tenders - they don't always have them, so wanted to get some, even though I wasn't planning to get groceries. There are always things I can order to make the limit for free pickup. I am getting better about keeping a list of things I need when I do place an order. Don't get reminded by walking by them when doing a pick up order. Have a nice day and enjoy your weekend, everyone.

Good morning, it's humid, sunny and in the low 80's now. We had a sprinkle early evening last night but not storms or any amount of rain. DSIL went up in the attic last night and found all the dishcloths I had knitted. I had put them in a box for the attic and didn't mean for them to go up with the other things in the box so I'm happy to have them down here. I want to give some to a neighbor and DD wants some too. I enjoy making them. I went to Kohls earlier to make a return for DD and found a pair of sandles and black dress slacks for me. I had $5 in Kohls and a 30% off coupon and they were already on sale so got a very good deal for them. I made a fast stop at the grocery store as I want to make the brocolli rice casserole today and didn't have all the ingredients I needed. I also stopped at $General to get a birthday card for DGS. Now it's clean up the kitchen, do laundry, make the casserole and get the family room cleaned. A good day! DEBBIE When will this particular job be finished for Mike? You've done 2 days worth of work already! with all the exercising etc.
CJ When are the kiddies back to school? I think our kids have about 11/2weeks before heading back. Summer went fast. Enjoy the walk-through today.
CAROLYN It's so good to get away and be with family but there's no place like home. And especially when there's a little special guy for you to cuddle.
MAMMA Thank you for the picture. That's the first one I've seen and/or heard of. I'm assuming there's a water tank or you connect it to some kind of faucet? It looks like a nice little gadget!
GREENBACK It feels so good when you find just the thing you're looking for. Are the turkey tenders big? deep fried? I haven't yet ordered online. I've thought about it but at this point, it gives me an excuse to get out and about. When will you see Dawson again?
Time to really get some work done.

Doing dusting today I know I won't get it all done. Still muggy here so AC is working. I stay in my ELVIS nightshirts on the weekend. Nice & comfy Looks like I have a mini dress on.
I took Delores to pick up her meds. late yesterday afternoon. She doesn't have a car anymore. On the way home she wanted to stop at Subway for subs. She bought me one for taking her to the drug store. I wanted to pay for mine & she wouldn't let me. Had a hard time chewing it & one of my stitches came out. I don't expect anything for helping someone.

The cleaning lady has been here and gone, everything is nice a clean for today. It's a sunny hot and humid day with stormy weather in the forecast. The first line of storms missed us but we might get stormy weather late this afternoon.
Sure is quiet since company left early this morning. I think everyone is tired. I'm happy to have my space for just me. No TV going and I the bathroom is all mine again. How did we ever manage with 2 kids and only one bathroom. I remember when there was only a path! So quickly our luxuries become our necessitates!
Debbie how nice that even in the bad weather you can still keep up with your exercise program. I'm trying to keep up with the walking program I did in rehab. DGD has worked out an exercise program for me but so far she hasn't found time to show me how to some of the things,
CJ sounds like a nice time for you and dh to take a nice stroll and see what's there. You might find something you just have to take home with you!
Carolyn, there's no place like home after we have spent some time with others. You will prob be surprised at how big that baby boy is when you see him again.
IC sub sounds yummy just be careful not to do any damage. We don't expect pay for things we do to help others but sometimes we just have to be gracious and say thank you. This morning Kathy told me she didn't want money for helping me clean. But I did remind her this was our agreement. She has a volunteer heart.
Greenback also like to go into the store to see what's there that I might want that isn't on my list. Don't wait too long to get into the store they might have some new products
elle there is always something to clean so don't worry about it there's always tomorrow! It's always fun to find sale things.
Mamma hope the icemaker is just what you need to help you stay cool
The house is so quiet everyone must me taking a nap!!

ICOOK Oops! to the loss of the stitch. Otherwise, are your gums healing? Yes, sometimes others truly want to give to us too, be gracious and accepting. I can't make myself stay in my gown/robe all day,if I would, well, you know, someone would come knocking at my door. Now, I do get the night clothes on early in the evening.
GRAMMY I remember very, very well the path to the outhouse!! I was 16 years old before we had inside plumbing. That includes hot water. Only hot water. Both night was Saturday, used the same water for mom and 2 of the girls, etc. I don't want to go back to that but life seemed much less complicated then and love was in the home and hearts.

Elle My gums are healing. Eating the sub was hard on my gums so they are a little sore. I was gracious & said thank you to Delores. I don't have to worry about anyone coming so I can be comfy in my nightshirts. Only one that might bop in is Delores & she stays in her nightclothes too often.
Grammy Delores lost her DH in less than three months after Earl passed. We've become close & good friends. She gives me food sometimes when she cooks. Tinker loves her so we see her often.

Jane, Emmett has had his ham judged, but Eli and Drew's county fair is not until Labor Day weekend. Theirs will be judged at that time. Emmett's hams (he submitted two) did not fare as well as last year. One got a red ribbon, which means it wasn't eligible to be sold and one got a white ribbon. In fact, DD got a call to come and pick it up a few hours after it was entered, the lady on the phone told her it had bugs and had to be removed! What?! Emmett had cleaned up the hams (as you always have to do) the day before they were submitted and both hams laid on Meg's kitchen counter overnight, so no way did they have bugs. But, Meg went to the fairgrounds to retrieve the suspect ham, as instructed, only to be told that they had made a mistake, it didn't have bugs, it had been put in the wrong pile, but the judge did think that it was not good, it had started to rot from the inside. Meg had ice picked it herself the night before (you run a narrow ice pick as far up in the hock as you can reach and smell the pick. If it doesn't smell bad, the ham is good.) But, there was no arguing with the Extension representative so she took it back home; she was just glad they had recognized it did NOT have bugs! Mike was kind of puzzled about the judge saying it was bad. He checks those hams himself before we turn them over to the kids for exhibition at the Fair and it hadn't seemed bad to him either.
Long story short, Meg made an appointment with the local grocery store who always slices hams and bacons exhibited by the 4-H kids for free. Meg took the hams to him and Emmett's bacon, too, on Friday morning. She was upfront with the butcher and told him what the judge had indicated about Emmett's one ham. So, the butcher said, well let's just see what we have. He cut the hock off the ham, examined it, said he could see or smell nothing at all wrong with the ham and then began slicing it. He declared it to be just fine and couldn't imagine what the judge had thought was wrong with it. That made us all feel a lot better. We know that they often aren't the shape, size, color, meatiness, etc., that a particular judge is looking for, but we would NEVER knowingly take a rotten ham to the fair! Mike thinks the one that got a red ribbon was a really nice one, but acknowledged that the big wrinkle in the hock that could not be smoothed out, probably kept it from receiving a blue ribbon and being eligible for sale. This fair that Emmett exhibits in had 174 hams submitted, so they allow only those that have blue ribbons to be sold. Hoping that the other two's hams fare better, but it is always a subjective decision by the judge and we just do the best we can. Regardless of how they place, the other two's fair regulations allow those to be sold, so they will make some money off theirs, regardless of how they place. They spend the week before the fair taking around flyers/post cards about their hams/bacons being offered for sale at the fair to area businesses and they pay dearly to support the fair and the kids, especially the businesses with which their family does business. Clear as mud, right?

Debbie, I'd be sure to let the county extension know what the butcher said, that simply wasn't fair. It's one thing to not get a blue ribbon, but to say it had bugs-then oops, and then double down and say it was bad.
I was at the Amish greenhouse today and they have the big bucket mum for $10 each, the lady said she was worried if she went too high. I googled menards' site and they were $17.97 there. What do you pay when you buy mums?
We spent yesterday driving to and from, and spending the bulk of the day w/ DIL's family at their lake place. Next time they will to come to us. Her sister wrote a book, "What We Leave Behind" by Christine Gallagher Kearney and was setting up at an arts festival today. It's Historical Fiction based on a family member who was a war bride during WW2. If you feel you want it at your library, you need to request them to get it. We had a wonderful day, good visit, good food, and good family time. I've been having wicked heartburn issues again since the whole Rx chaos, so I'm kind of "off." Today I went to pick up my great niece, she is spending a few days here. It's been interesting, she does well on the crutches til the Nugget tried to be her friend. She broke her leg three times/ways when she went down a slide. Thursday they're hoping for a shorter cast, but she'll go back to school (on her birthday) on crutches.
We've had lots of rain off and on, if the sun comes out for a full day some time soon you'll be able to hear the grass grow. Thank you everyone for the cards and kind words, the last month or so has been crazy.
