I'm opening today. I was still in bed & the phone rang. A scammer I get a lot of them I picked up the phone & hung up. Not doing anything today. I have a bruise on my jaw from my surgery yesterday.

Good morning, it's a nice sunny start to the day but possible storms this afternoon. The hummingbirds are competing for their space on the feeders. There're 2 feeders but they seem to want the same one at the same time. LOL Sorry to say, they do entertain me. LOL I want to do more cleaning today and a load of laundry. DD and spouse will be here for supper. It's going to be Mexican. Nothing exciting that I can think of happening here. I've seen the terrible fire on Maui and at Lahaina HI. Lahaina is where DH and I went to the luah! What memories!! Loved the island!
ICOOK I hope you heal quickly. When do you go back? I know you have a process to go through. You will have more time to spoil Tinker in recovering. LOL

Good muggy morning again.
I'll be happy when monsoon season has come to an end. The dew point is horrible to say the least.
IC, besides the bruise, how are you feeling? No pain I hope.
Yesterday I had the most wonderful time with Lynda and Debbie. I was concerned with odd man out but we all just laughed and chatted all the time. The most fun I've had in months. They even said that I should come along the next time to do a girls day out. I was thrilled. AND we found the Aldi's store and I got two loaves of their low cal bread, which I really like and some cookies for a dollar less than WM. At Home Goods, I just got a three wick candle, a travel mug and some treats for Mandy. I wasn't much impressed but I had fun looking. Both of them purchased quite a bit of stuff.
Last night when I took Mandy out we watered Jills flowers, they really needed it too. This morning I hope they look better and I will really give them a good drink.
Change sheets today, let Annie loose on the floors and maybe, just maybe I'll get the dusting done in one day. hehehe I ordered a countertop ice maker like we had, so now I need to figure out where to put it when it gets here next week. I'm tired of trying to get the ice trays into the bottom freezer. Worst fridge I've had in years.
Time to get the sheets off of the bed and into the washer.

MAMMA Isn't is a real relief when you can go out and truly enjoy it? It sounds like a real friendship might be happening and I'm so happy for you. I know how it feels when I'm with friends. I watered my plants again last night and will check them again tonight if it doesn't rain. I didn't know they had "portable" ice makers.

Good Morning Ladies - - - I'm up and rolling - just not fast. I halve a load of laundry in the dryer. It looks like it's laundry day in the hood. I just took a check out and put in the car - I assume they will come and get it for the tires, although I don't remember that we talked about that. They always come and get it for an oil change. I guess I could take it but I don't especially like to sit and wait while they do it - not that I don't have the time to spare. I found a couple of pills on the floor and need to look and see if I can see anymore. I spilled a bottle of them when I was getting the one out for last night, and couldn't find them without the daylight coming in.
We had a nice time Out to dinner and glad we went early as they ran out of ribs but we had ours already. It's been so long since I have been there and had them. I do have half of my half rack to enjoy tonight.
IC, hope the bruise will go away soon and you will be feeling better soon. Yesterday I had 4 calls within 5 min. and I didn't answer - 3 were from the same person/number and the other said incomplete data, and I feel it was the same caller. I didn't recognize the name or number, so no answer here and no message - big surprise!
Ellie, those silly hummers are just like little kids and want what the other one has. Yes, one can watch them for hours and enjoy them. I'm sure you will enjoy your Mexican food tonight - one of my favorites. Those fires are very sad indeed. SO much devastation and such a loss of lives.
Mamma glad you enjoyed your outing with the gals - it's nice to have someone to talk to and do things with - once can never have to many friends. My favorite Irish Blessing is - "May your home always be to small for all of you friends."

Goodmorning grannies, it's a sunshine day with temps going to about 80 this afternoon. I'm sitting here wearing long pants and a flannel shirt over my Tshirt! I'm always cold it's the age and the pills!! What will I wear when it's winter?
elle, love to watch those little hummers I have some buzzing the 2 feeders also. These are probably the young ones practicing their skills! Before I moved here I had 3 feeders and so many little hummers I couldn't count more than 12 they are so fast but I love to watch them.
IC hope you are doing well today and the bruises will fade quickly. Just rest up for a few day.
Mamma so good the hear that you had a fun time with your friends. sounds like just the day everyone needs.
Greenback glad you had a good dinner with your friends. Friends are important.
Same as yesterday, nothing much happening here today just the usual stuff. DSIL is cutting the grass and before more rain comes our way. I'll read my book and watch the hummers.

GREENBACK You mentioned new tires and that is something I need to ask DSIL to check on my vehicle. I hope I don't need them but if I do, I definitely want to get them on. I've dropped pills too and they are very hard to find. They can roll a long way.
GRAMMY Too bad we couldn't live closer to watch the feisty birds. LOL What's for lunch? I'm not sure what I'm having but nothing much as I'll have more tonight. Is your garden giving you lots of goodies?

Good morning, all. I have five more minutes to use that greeting! It is a very hot and humid day here. Rain expected overnight here and at home. Mike ended up working nearly 14 hours yesterday, but it wasn't quite as bad as it could have been. He will be tired tonight, I know, as it seems it really catches up to you the next day.
I, too, have changed the sheets on my bed this morning, done two loads of laundry and have it put away, unloaded the dishwasher and made myself presentable, all after my morning walk. I then went to Target to look around, hadn't been there in quite a while. I scored a Cuisinart ice cream maker on clearance for $65--half off it's $134.99 regular price. I have always wanted an ice cream maker (the new kind--I have one of the hand cranked ones), and Mike had given me a gift card for my birthday, so it seemed like the time to do it. Mama, I know you often make ice cream, do you have any advice for me? I probably won't use it up here, but will take it home and will look forward to experimenting with it there.
Tonight's supper will be something from the food truck that is coming to the apartment complex tonight. They are hosting a Food Truck Friday, but only one food truck is coming, so if it is too busy, or the line is too long after Mike gets home, we'll go grab a bite somewhere else. It's a truck which specializes in smash burgers which sounds good to me right now--I haven't had lunch yet!
That peach cobbler coffee cake I made night before last might just be the best thing I've made this year! I cut it yesterday after lunch and, since it looked good and sliced nicely (it seemed really dense and moist like a good pound cake should be) I took two BIG pieces of it across the breezeway to the older couple that live there and they were delighted. I told them they were my guinea pigs for the new recipe. About 15 minutes later, he was knocking on my door exclaiming (he's an older black gentleman and such a character) that it was absolutely delicious and anytime I needed them to judge a new recipe, they would be glad to help! After our supper of leftovers last night when Mike got home around 8, I cut us each a slice and we both thought it was absolutely delicious. I am keeping that recipe!
I just got new rear brakes on my car and Mike commented that I needed new tires soon, too. So, I am another granny getting ready for tires on my vehicle. I know he probably wants to get them from our regular place back home.
Time to feed my tummy which is reminding me it is lunch time! Wishing all a wonderful rest of your day!

Grammy, around 9:00 at night I usually get really warm - - I blame that on my pills too, as I'm to old for hot flashes!
Ellie, they come and got my car and it's back with the new tires - - I never even saw or talked to them. I just need to go out to the car and get my receipt. A don deal!

Feeling a bit better but still have allergies. Left ear And left nostril the worst. But I am resting a lot. And, drinking lots of water. Had leftover meatloaf for breakfast.  I hope everyone had a good night of rest. They are talking about going to the beach mon. Hope I can go with them, they do have a tent that I occupy.  My youngest grandson bought a 2023 Nissan yesterday. I am proud of him. He works a lot. Debbie, I would love the recipe for the peach cake. Please. If you will. Be back later🌺 |

Grannies Thank you for all the well wishes. I feel OK Only took pain pills once yesterday. Surprisingly I can eat fairly well. I have two bruises on my face. One from when Tinker pulled me & my face hit my walker. Have a nice black eye.
Elle I go back to the oral surgeon next Thursday morning for a check up & get the stitches out.

IC Cook, so glad you are not experiencing a lot of pain.
I posted the peach pound cake recipe in the recipe sub-board. Elle, I used fresh peaches, but canned can also be used, as long as they are drained. The cake batter has diced peaches in it and the topping, which bakes underneath the cake batter, calls for sliced peaches. I used more diced peaches than it called for in the cake batter, but my fresh peaches weren't real juicy. I probably used more than two peaches when I placed the peach slices in the bottom of the bundt pan. I laid them in a pretty pattern, but they kind of bake into the cake and you really don't see the pattern, so don't go to that trouble if you don't want to. I almost forgot to put a glaze on the cake and it probably would have been just fine without it. I say in the recipe that if I had used canned peaches, I would have used some of the drained peach juice instead of milk in my glaze.
We had another slice each for supper tonight and it is so good. Because of all the butter and cream cheese in it, I stored it in the fridge.
We got smash burgers from the food truck and they were delicious. I got a double (I was hungry) and I got Mike a triple. They were cooked to order and mighty good. I was surprised that burgers were all they had; no sides other than they were selling chips from the same variety box I had back here in the apartment and canned sodas. I just set out our assortment of chips and made some iced tea for us here. Then we had cake, of course! Good thing I walked my four miles this morning and then walked my 100 laps in the pool this afternoon! I've kind of given up on losing weight, take me like I am or not, I'm trying not to care. I do want to be active because of all my family's history of crippling arthritis which I can feel creeping in on me--you ought to see me get out of the car when we get home or get up here after traveling from home! And getting up from the lounge chair at the pool--not a pretty sight and certainly not a graceful picture!
