Good Morning....
The sun is trying to shine but not sure it will. Had rain overnight and it's very wet and somewhat gray out there. We'll be in the upper 60's today. Not your typical August day.
Not a lot of news yet....so I'll wish everyone a great day. I'll check back later.......

Good morning, CJ, and other grannies yet to come. It is cloudy here in IL, but the sun is trying to shine. I got some heavy sprinkles on me as I finished my morning walk, but I think rain is now out of the picture until Wednesday.
Mike and I decided not to go home Saturday night. He didn't get off until after 4:00 on Saturday and, since it was a rare weekend with no obligations with family back at home, we stayed here. I had picked up a ham and cheese quiche on clearance at the grocery store and we had that and an ear of sweet corn for supper along with the last of the chocolate pudding I had made. We slept in until after 6:30 on Sunday morning and around mid-morning we went out for a big breakfast. We then went to Rural King in Collinsville, IL, and found Mike a new pair of work boots which he had been looking for. He didn't need them right now, but his company reimburses him for a pair every year and he wanted to get some before the job ended. We then came home and snoozed in our recliners for a bit before heading to the movie theater to see The Sound of Freedom. Once we got there, though, we found out they were almost completely sold out and the only seats were in the very front row and the cashier did not recommend them. Mike also had reservations about front-row seating, so we decided to try again another time. I was really surprised, since the movie had been out a while, that they were still at capacity. The cashier said nearly every showing has been completely full ever since the movie came out. After our movie miss, we went to area car lots to look at cars and then out for Mexican followed by a key lime pie concrete at a local frozen custard place. Boy, that hit the spot! We then went to bed shortly after 9. Mike really needed a day of rest and I am glad he got to have one.
Going to make Pioneer Woman's rigatoni with chicken thighs for supper and try a new TOH recipe for easy cannoli cookies. I have some leftover hamburger buns that will be turned into garlic cheese bread to go with.
Wishing all a great Monday and week to come!

Good muggy morning. UGH. Mandy has been out, Jills plants have been watered and my coffee is about done for the day. As soon as I cool down I'll make the bed, clean up and make a WM list.
Today I have to go into the store as some things they don't list on the website for delivery or pick up. I need to get out of the house anyway. I'm going to stop at the $tree and pick up some fall flowers and make a candle ring for Patty's birthday. I hope they have a cream colored battery candle too.
Today the honcho comes to the park. So the pet area should get a good cleaning. It is so bad that I won't take Mandy there anymore. Sad for her since it's the only time she can be off leash. But her health comes first, as does mine.
Gotta run, the heat waits for no one.

Goodmorning grannies, it's another cloudy day. Looks like we had some light rain last night and more to come this afternoon. Temp will stay in the 70s this afternoon. That sure doesn't sound like August temps!
CJ hope you find something exciting for today. You know the saying..make it happen, watch it happen or what happened? Too many of my days are becoming what happened days!
Debbie sounds like a nice day for you and dh. That movie sounds like a good one hope you get to see it another time. The mention on Collinsville IL brought back memories of days gone by.I moved here from Collinsville, OH. we had friends in Mo that we visited often and I was surprised to see the sign for Collinsville IL. We did camp there for a few days. That was a long time ago!
Mamma I hope the honcho gets the place cleaned up!
Nothing going on here today. Just another what happened day as I watch the grass grow and read my book!

Good sun-less day! it's a cloudy, drizzly day. I don't need to go out until early evening so I'll just do what I need to do.(want to is probably what it'll be-lol). I do have sheets in the dryer and another load to go in when they're done. Yesterday was a typical day Sunday, afternoon nap and sitting time on the deck watching the hummingbirds and finch. They are very active now. I do have 2 pairs of hummingbirds. This week seems to be all the routine things. We'll see if it stays that way.
CJ You're so right, it doesn't feel like a typical summer day. Winter is coming all to fast for me. And the kids will be back in school in a couple of weeks. Where did our short summer go? I think we'll still have it but it's moving fast.
DEBBIE How nice that you and Mike had some time with each other. And it sounds like a relaxing time. I saw the movie Sound of Freedom and I do recommend it. An eye opener for sure. If you see it, I think you'll understand why it's been sold out. Enjoy the week and let us know how the Pioneer Woman and TOH recipes turn out.
MAMMA You've been out and about and have worked up a good sweat. Well, I don't think sweat is a good feeling...Poor Mandy, I hope the "honcho" does his job and gets things to a sanitary and safe place. Good luck in finding the flowers/candle you want. Have a good day! It sounds like you'll be in the craft room working away.
GRAMMY We bumped into each other coming to visit with the early bird grannies. You're right, it doesn't look like a sunny, more pleasant day. I guess we'll need to make our own sunshine. Do you have a good recipe for that? If only we did, right? I hope you will enjoy reading and maybe some pretty birds will visit at your patio door for you to watch.

Good Morning Ladies - - - It looks like everyone came early today - Or else I'm late, which I am, but not any later than many days. It's a beautiful morning here, 73 and sunny, however we missed out on the rain they were talking about all week coming for us yesterday. Not much on my schedule for the day - just take it as it comes. I had to stop and clean my glasses off and can see much better now!!! CJ, hope your day perks up - how was MIL when you went last night? Debbie, how nice that you & Mike were able to spend a weekend together and doing just what you wanted to do. The rest was good for him and glad he found his work boots too. I made porcupine meatballs yesterday and put some small golden potatoes and the last 3 sad looking carrots in before I covered it with the tomato sauce. I haven't made them since I don't know when and tasted good. I have enough for a couple more meals. Mamma, I sure hope the boss gets on the dog run - It will be good to have that mess cleaned up and I'm sure he will be surprised at the condition of it. Hope lots of things get addressed while he's here. I still haven't gotten to the melon place, but hope to soon. Grammy, that's a saying I don't remember hearing before, but lots of truth to it! You keep getting the rain we need. I'm so glad Kathy keeps helping you and even happier that you are teaching her some valuable life lessons! Ellie, sounds like we both have a quiet day. Enjoy your hummers.

Oh good grief. I thought today was Tuesday. Why am I mixed up this time? Honcho comes tomorrow not today. Geesh this old brain needs to read the calendar better.

Well, the sun is now shining and it has warmed up a bit. I've had a sweatshirt on all day, with shorts. It was misty most of the morning and early afternoon. DH & I went to Hobby Lobby and Marshalls this morning. Found a few things at Marshalls...usually can't come out of that store without anything..LOL We stopped at Leo's Coney Island for lunch...so now we are still full and won't need any real supper. We are on our own. And made a quick stop at Pet Supplies Plus for kitty litter. There were two really pretty kitties sitting on the counter at the checkout. Very docile and loved to be petted. I think they are the store cats.
I'm not planning to go with DH to see his mom tonight. She's doing really well and we are hoping that she might go home by the end of the week. I'll go with him tomorrow.
GrammyDebbie...that chicken pasta recipe made me curious...so I looked it up. That might be supper tomorrow night.
Have a good evening everyone...
