July has arrived. Turned the AC back on last night. Going to be humid for the next week. Hopefully the ELVIS cake will get made today. Dusting day too.

Now I'll start again. It's another dark and cloudy day with some rain heading in this morning and most of the days for the next week. Sure would like to share some with those who need some since we have had so much.
IC sure wish you were next door I would like to try that cake. How can it be and Elvis Cake with no PB or bananas wasn't he fond of both of those things?
CJ that house on the bay sure sounds like a nice place to be for some vacation time! So nice that the DGC are sweet and that you look forward to the time you have them. Wouldn't be fun time with 2 crabby, whiny kids. You always sound like you enjoy the days with them as much as they do.
My little cleaning person should be here any minute and I have the work ready for her. I'm just a bit miffed at dgd. Cassandra whined about Kathy earning money till her mom assigned her some work each week and she will be paid more than Kathy!@#$% I hoped this would be something that Kathy could do well with and no one else doing the same thing. Cassandra will earn twice the amount I pay Kathy and not do as much work!@$$%!
Monday will be Soraya's 15th birthday! How did she get so old so quickly?? DD went shopping with us first we went to dinner. Soraya's choice. Red Robin which is a gourmet hamburger place. Soraya was wishfully looking at the choc ice cream cake. When she went to the ladies room I ordered it and the waitress said we have free birthday sundaes! Bring it on! Both of them arrived with 3 spoons. The cake was a huge pc and so good we ate it all along with the sundae. Shopping was fun time too. She finally chose a shirt and wide leg pants guess they are back in style. We even saw some bell bottoms! A fun time watching a very modest teen find something she liked.We watched quietly as she made her decisions. with her new hair cut she looks so grown. Longer on one side and shorter in back and other side.
Cleaning person is here so I need to do a little supervising

Right now it is very comfy.. I have ac on 74
and it hardly comes on. Afternoon is a different
story.
My cucumbers are blooming and there are some
tiny ones. I hope some of them will be ready
to eat before I leave.
Kids are having cookout this afternoon.
It may rain again.
IC, your cake sounds wonderful.
I haven't been baking, trying to watch sugar
breads, etc.

Good Morning....
It's JULY. Crazy how fast the year is speeding by.
Had a fun day with the kids, yesterday. They are both such happy kids.
Penny & Teddy are going up north today through Wed with the other grandparents. DD & DSIL was supposed to go, but found out they both have big deadlines to meet this coming week....so they decided to stay home. The other grandparents said they would take them up north with them. We will have them next week on Thurs and Friday. Then the following week DD, DSIL and the kids will go up for their vacation. It's so nice that they have the house on the bay to go to.
Not much happening yet. I'm about to go enjoy my second cup of coffee on the swing. Have a great day!

Good morning,
Out and back home in short order. Nothing to distract Mandy from her duty today.  I love it when that happens. Then I can get back home and have or finish my coffee and cookie.
The sheets are off the bed and in the washer. Too hot out there to hang sheets on the lines anymore, so it will be the dryer today. A WM order will be coming again. With the excessive heat warnings I'm not going out and the delivery is morning so the I don't have the delivery person coming here in the high heat either. I only had four things that I really needed so added a couple more to make the order deliverable. I'm not doing very well at checking my cabinets before sending in an order.  That needs a lot of work.
Putting clean sheets on the bed is pretty much all I have on my to do list. Opps, I just remembered, I never got the floors in the bedroom done yesterday so I'll have to get to that sometime today. Changing the bedding raises dust bunnies from their hiding places and I'll have to capture them today before they infiltrate the rest of the house.
Grammy, I do the same thing when there are two posts for the same day. It doesn't affect me but reading about the "wages" upset me too.
That is so wrong in so many ways. Hearing the ages of your "little" girls sure makes me feel old too. I can remember when they were born. Yikes, time is flitting by so quickly. Oh how I miss and loved those bell bottom and flared leg pants. Nice that they are coming back in style. Not that I'll be able to wear them anymore.
CJ, you are so blessed that your grandkids are so fun and nice to be around. Their parents and grandparents are teaching them well.
Carolyn, I set the a/c at 80ยบ during the day and down to 77 for bedtime. Any cooler and my electric bill would be a lot higher than it is now. OUCH! With the ceiling fan 80 is quite comfortable. By late afternoon, say 5ish, it gets pretty warm in the west room which is why I wear just a t-shirt dress when I'm just in the house. Nice and cool and nothing confining, no bra and no waist cinching.  I do change when I go out with Mandy.
No celebrating here of any kind. Just another day. There is a gathering in the main building, a pot luck, but I'm not going, too hot to leave the house and I won't eat there if I would go. Too many people that I don't know and some I wouldn't want to eat their food. I don't care to visit either. It will be HOT in that building too yet. They never ever turn the cooling on early enough.

Good Morning Ladies - - I slept in this morning and didn't get out of bed until 9:15. Now I have had some toast with wonderful red raspberry jam and fruit of banana, grapes, and cherries. I had a pick up order yesterday that was mostly fruit, however the strawberries were out of stock and the muskmelon isn't ripe enough to cut yet. No plans for the day, just some house stuff that needs to be done. It seems like many are considering Monday a holiday. Many of our stores are either closed or have reduced hours. I have a Dr. appt. for my medicare phy. so that will break up the long weekend with nothing special to happen, or at least not that I know of now.
IC, I turned my AC on late yesterday too, for the first time.
Grammy, sounds like a nice time was had with Soraya ad her BD lunch. I had my first trip to Red Robin when I was at the kids on of the times.. Dawson was all over the mac & cheese and unlimited refills of it. He wolfed down 2 of them. Sounds like a pretty outfit for her and useful too. Too bad that Kathy's special lessons have been outshined - hope she isn't too miffed about it and quits.
Carolyn, how nice to have the fresh cucks - One of my favorite veggies of summer-so many good salads for them to shine in.
CJ, how fun it would be to have that house on the lake to retreat to - nice break for kids and mom & dad, and then they can get that work done and be ready to go themselves. Good that you will get to see the kids before they go back.\
Mamma, glad that you are keeping cool in all of your heat. I'm sure that Mandy wants to get back home just as soon as you do. Good idea to not hang the sheets today.
Ellie, did you have a fun evening with the kids last night? I know how you must look forward to that time.
Debbie, what long and hot days for Mike. Hope it doesn't get too late before you can head home again. The girls will have a great time.
I managed to find my way around the new remote and system on the TV last night and got to watch what I was looking for. I'm sure it will all be easier as I use it more.

A cloudy, some wind and a few rain drops now and then. We do have humidity and it's 74*. It doesn't feel bad out there right now. I think the smoke from Canada has finally left! It was nasty stuff! I made a trip to the bank this a.m. It seems everyone else was going there too. Do you think they want holiday/vacation money? LOL I need to do laundry, clean the family room and get the kitchen spiffed up a bit. Other than that, not much else.
ICOOK I'll bring my cool whip bowl and enjoy the Elvis cake with you. Sure gives me memories of our GN meetings and the cookies you brought!!
GRAMMY I think you being "miffed" is justified. Kathy is probably the precious sweet person and will just do whatever she needs to with a good attitude. Maybe DGC will reconsider. Anyway, you are an encouraging person and the kids know that. Soraya 15??? No way! She's not that little girl anymore.
CAROLYN I'm looking forward to some fresh produce! I don't have a garden but do have a favorite place I go to. It's in the country and I enjoy their produce.
CJ Did you get your "swinging" time in? The coffee just seems to taste better out there, doesn't it? Enjoy the day.
MAMMA No celebrating planned for here over the 4th unless the kids say something. One daughter and family will be in FL so I know it won't be all the kids. You and Mandy can do your own celebrating. Do the fireworks scare Mandy? LOL I can't imagine your temps! Even without the humidity, that's too hot for me.
GREENBACK I did have a nice evening with the kids last night. Thanks for asking. We had cheesy potatoes, broccoli salad, ham and peanut butter pie. We went outside for a short time, looking at flowers, etc. Will you hear from your little special guy this weekend?
Time to get something done! Have a great, safe and healthy day everyone.

Just got the ELVIS cake out of the oven. I could smell it baking Smelt like it was burning. Quick took it out of the oven. A few dark spots on top. Took me over half an hour beating all the ingredients. This is a touch cake. Got some dusting done Decided to get my long handled duster out to dust the hard to reach areas. Won't get it all done for a few days. A few dishes to do. Thing I will call it a day after doing them
ELLE & GRAMMY Get your cool whip bowls ready. I have strawberries & Redi Whipped cream to go with the cake. Anyone else can join us.
ELLE I have such fond memories of those grannie meetings.
GRAMMY ELVIS like banana & peanut butter sandwiches fried in butter. He would eat a pound of bacon for breakfast.

ICOOK I'm laughing at your post. I love how you love Elvis and all you know about him. I really liked him too, music and movies. My sister got to see him in person, probably in the late 50's. It was at the coliseum in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. That's about 50 miles from where we lived. My cool whip bowl is ready to go.
