Another dark and dismal day in this corner of the 'hood and it looks like more of the same as I look at the weather.Where is the sun hiding. The temp is already at 50* It will prob be in the upper 50s this afternoon.
Christmas was a nice day with family and way to many good things to eat! I received four new sweaters!!! I had recently bought 3 now to decide which ones to get rid of?? But I like them.
This is a day with not much to do and that's Ok since I didn't plan to do very much. I also got 3 boxes of cordial cherry candy! One of my favorite candies these should last awhile.
Hope it was a good day for everyone.

Grammy, believe it or not I am up. Thinking about some oatmeal for breakfast. I can make enough if you all can join me. Thank you all for the nice birthday wishes. I am not going to do much today. After all I am old 😄😄 But I thank God for my years. Please say prayer for my sister and my brother. Both of them are struggling. Take care you all. 🌺🌹

Good Morning....
It's a rainy day again without the dense fog we had yesterday. Still going to be in the 50's again.
Yesterday was a good celebration day with DD & family. Of course, like I knew, the kids were really tired. Too much in one day for them. Teddy perked up as the time went on and warmed up to the great grandmas. Taking pictures is almost impossible but I tried. Got a few but never could get any of DH & me with them. Anyway...we had a good time but, like I said before, things are going to have to change next year.
DH got me a new computer, so I'm working my way through getting all my apps/favorites on this one. So far I think I'm doing good. I'm not computer illiterate, so it takes time. This laptop has a much bigger screen which I like.
Carolyn...HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY. Sorry I missed it yesterday.
I have a eye appointment this afternoon to see if my prescription has changed, which I think it has. So I'll probably need new glasses plus I want to try the progressive lenses.
Not much happening yet......Have a great day everyone...................

OMG Déjà vu. Just like last year on this date. I slept until after eight. And Mark was in the ambulance waiting at the hosptial. That's the last time I can remember sleeping that late in the morning. Anyway Mandy and I just got back from the dog park and now I'm having my 1st cup of coffee and cookies.
Bright sunshine and 50º when I got up at 8:10. We could hit 65º today.
Annie has to clean the floors today. I sure raised a lot of dust demons taking down decorations. The bunnies have left the building and the dust demons have taken over, they multiply faster. LOL
I have to figure out a way to find my room for my room humidifier in the front rooms (kitchen and living room). All my plants are in there now and the Norfolk pine needs the humidity as does my nose. I really don't want to lose the tree. My nose may run a lot but it never leaves. I'm sure that will mean taking down the winter village today. Not much for flat spots and no room to add any either.
CJ, have fun setting up your new computer just the way you like it. A very thoughtful gift.
Grammy, why get rid of any of the sweaters. If you like them all keep them. One for each day of the week. hehehe
Love you all and God bless.

Happy birthday Carolyn, sorry to be late on that.
Good morning, I'm still around. It's been a couple of really busy days and I am looking forward to the silence today. #1 and DIL are planning to head out after lunch. I think the Yeti is planning to go to the movie with a crew of nieces and nephews. I wasn't asked, invited, included and I am fine with that, but did point out clearly that I wasn't going so they'd need to make driving arrangements for all of them. I think it's a silly thing to do with the road conditions here, but it's not my circus.
We all went to the farm yesterday, got a bit loud and overwhelming and Al was tired, but it was good. Then had another T family gathering last night, we need to get this figured out for next year, we won't be hosting CM Eve as we alternate w/ BIL. #1 and DIL as well as #2 think it's a bit of overkill to be doing this two days in a row, and with the baby coming it needs to be tweaked. The one who doesn't host CM Eve hosts CM evening.
I also found out yesterday that my aunt Gloria passed away on CM Eve. I'd been to see her a few times this fall and had gone right before the trip. I told her I'd be back soon and her response was "you promise?" Well, I didn't keep that one. She was a very devout Lutheran, not a pusher of her beliefs, she had a kind and caring heart~maybe it was fitting that she passed on Christmas Eve. I remember a friend of Mom and Al's telling me after mom passed "how amazing it is that she woke up in Heaven today?" I feel like that about Gloria, I remember how excited she was when they took a trip to the Holy Land years ago, so it's pretty amazing that she woke up on Christmas Day in Heaven. Her Granddaughter just texted me that she didn't want a big funeral, just a wake, so we'll find out details soon. She said she declined very quickly. So this year, her, dad and my aunt's hubby.
Blessed be everyone, Merry Christmas and blessings for the new year.

Good Morning Ladies - - - but it might not be when I send this. It's down to 31 and cloudy and gloomy. Guess we had some sleet or just a bit of snow earlier this morning. A little white stuff on hte deck, but don't see it on the green grass. The kids hit the road at 10 yesterday and got home around 3:30 - guess they were an hour or so out when they hit the road decline. Glad they got that far first and then was very icey after they hit the road into Sioux City and very icey the rest of the way. They had 3 inches of snow and all the windows were ice covered when they got home, and yes, Santa had been there while they were gone. I really had to stop and think if it was coffee day today - only 3 of us were going to make it this time, so we went out. I had French toast, didn't really know what I wanted. I knew I didn't want ham as I have that here, and wasn't all that hungry either - guess there has just been a lot of eating lately. I did nothing yesterday - I was so tired that I didn't mind being alone. I had a little nap, and was still fired after that. Didn't sleep good again last night either. I do have laundry going and got the poinsettia in a container so I can water it and have water warming up to room temp. I need to just straighten things up and put away presents. Of course, they got me too much as usual. I do always look forward to my new calendar and seeing what pictures she choose for it this year. Then I need to add some BD's that aren't on there. Grammy, aren't you going to be the new fashion Queen around? I'm sure they are lovely and you will enjoy them. Carolyn, I will pass on hte oatmeal - but I do need to make a pan of it my way again! So handy to have ready to go. CJ, I agree, things need to change for next year, and now would be a good time to bring it up and make some other plans or have a plan acceptable to all. Mamma, thinking of you today - I know it's a hard week for you and I will keep you close to my heart. Laurie, another one that needs to make her opinion known for the sharing of holidays and yes, the baby will need to be a first come little person in your lives, as I know it will be. Hope everyone is on to a good start to the week!

The eye appointment is over. Sure was there long enough, but he did do a thorough exam. I'm trying the progressive lenses. Hope they work for me. And it's so hard choosing new frames. I like the ones I have but did go with a different color. The shape is very similar to what I have.
Forgot to tell you that my rolls turned out perfect. They were light and fluffy. Guess I'll be doing them by hand from now on.
(((Hugs Mamma)))
Lauriet...always a lot going on at your house. Glad you have a break from school for a while. Sorry to hear of the loss of your aunt.
Greenback...glad the kids got home okay and that Santa had already been there. Bet Dawson was excited when he walked in the door.

Good afternoon, friends. It is a very chilly day here and the weatherman says there may be flurries this afternoon and tomorrow.
Our Christmas Eve celebration was so much fun. Eli and Mike cooked the steaks to perfection and we both just grinned and shook our heads at the amount of meat our grandsons can put away--each of the three of them put away a 16 ounce steak and could have eaten more, but their moms put a stop to that--even though Maw Maw said go ahead! It was so fun to watch them (and everyone else) enjoy the meal so much.
We played two fun games and, in a wonderful surprise, my sister and her husband showed up and DBIL was dressed as Santa. Amelia went over her list of what she wanted in great detail with him, Trinity talked his ear off, too, and Josie was so scared of him she clung to either me or her mommy--LOL.
We are all looking forward to leaving for the condo in Branson on Thursday.
Yesterday, Mike and I slept in until after 8 after the wonderful, messy chaos of the evening before, Mike ate some leftover steak for breakfast, then we both did dishes, mopped the kitchen floor, and straightened up both the upstairs and the downstairs. We both sat down on the couch at 11:00, then promptly fell asleep until 1:00. I kept dozing on and off until 3, that was the first good rest I had in at least three weeks and I still slept last night, even though I still coughed through the night. I'm trying a new cough syrup tonight. I don't feel that bad, just tired and can't get rid of this nagging cough, especially when I want to sleep.
Today, we got up early and headed to Hy-Vee and Gerbes (grocery stores) where they had all their Christmas and seasonal items marked at least 50% off, but most 75% off or more. I spent a good amount at both store, but got wonderful buys on snacks for the condo later this weeks and lots of little items that will stay in storage for next year's Christmas and for gifts throughout the year. Got 6 Burts Bees chapstick in a package for $2 for all. Bought several of those as well as lots of fun flavors of lip gloss for the girls, several bath bombs, some fun facial masks for them, too, and, since Trinity's birthday is 1/18, got several skin care sets that were on clearance for her. She will be 9 but is asking for skin care products--LOL. She loves makeup, hair and all the girly things. We had breakfast at Hy-Vee while we were there and it was really good. I had two eggs, two pieces of bacon, two pieces of sausage and two big pancakes for $10--can't eat at McDonald's for that!
While we were having breakfast, Mike got a text from our preacher. His oldest daughter and her fiance had come for Christmas with a trailer to take some furniture to their soon to be new home and something on the trailer had broken. Everyone he called said he should contact Mike as he was the one who could fix it for them. So, the whole family came out and we all had a long visit while Mike, the preacher and soon-to-be son-in-law fixed the trailer. It took some doing, but Mike got it done and they were very happy when Mike told them no charge, have a wonderful married life.
DSIL#2 and Josie are coming out this afternoon to pick up her chickens--yes, she got chickens for Christmas. They were given to her by our nephew Kyle who is her godfather. She had sent a Snapchat to Kyle telling him her Christmas list included chickens, ducks, more fluffy cows, and a zebra! Believe it or not, Kyle tried to buy a zebra for her from a local guy who has some exotic animals, but thank goodness he decided on chickens instead. Although Mike swore there would never be a chicken on his place (he detests chickens, thinks they are nasty animals), when it came to housing these six little ones for his beloved Josie Mae for a few days until they could a place situated for them at their farm, he relented and they have resided in our barn under a heat lamp since Saturday evening.
Carolyn, a very happy belated birthday to you! Hope your year will be blessed.
Jane, so glad you had such a good time with Dawson and family and that they made it home safely.
Laurie, my sincere condolences on the loss of your dear aunt. I thought the closing part of DMIL's funeral service was so perfect when the pastor emphasized that "Evelyn got just what she wanted for Christmas this year."
Grammy, I ran out of time and energy to make my oatmeal rolls after having made them for Thanksgiving and for DMIL's funeral, I was kind of tired of them, too. So, I made your wooden spoon rolls and everyone liked them!
CJ, I agree that it is best to tell your DD and DSIL that things will/should be different next year so they can't say it's too late; they had already promised to go to his family, or something similar.
Mama, hugs to you. I still can't believe that you slept through an ambulance call and your DH being transported, but most of all that they didn't wake you up to let you know! I am starting to take my Christmas decorations down today. Want everything down before we leave for Branson.
Time to get to work or I will not get done what I have in mind to do today. Leftover steak, cheesy corn, twice baked potatoes and two different kinds of cake for supper so I don't need to worry about that. By the way, DH and I ate leftover Chinese from Saturday for our lunch yesterday and we had a laugh and sang Fa-ra-ra-ra like they did in The Christmas Story when they had Chinese for lunch on Christmas day after the Bumpus dogs ate their turkey dinner. LOL

Grammy, I forgot to tell you that for the first time in years the University of Missouri football Tigers made it to a big bowl game and I hear that they are to play Ohio State this Thursday. I bet your family will be watching! We plan to watch, too, from the what we hope to be comfortable confines of our condo rental in Branson. Go Tigers!

Good afternoon, it's cloudy but it's 57*. I wasn't planning on doing much today. Around 10:30 DD called and asked if I wanted to join her DH and son for lunch at Applebee's. Don't ask me twice. LOL DGS will leave tomorrow to go back to Columbus. When I got home, I got most of my gifts put away, mopped the kitchen floor and got the bathrooms cleaned. I think I'm done for today. It's been a great Christmas, the best since DH passed.
GRAMMY How was the prime rib? Are there leftovers? I agree, you don't have to get rid of any sweaters, just wear a different one every day. LOL
CAROLYN I don't eat a lot of oatmeal but I do like it. I'm lazy and use the instant in the microwave kind.
CJ Wow, a new computer. How nice. I don't like getting new phones/computers etc. because of the need to program them and hope I get all the old stuff on my new ones. LOL Did Teddy and Penny have fun opening their gifts?
MAMMA I bet it felt good to be able to sleep in today. Hugs as all the memories come to you. Prayers too!! You always seem to keep busy and a great organizer.
LAURIE It is nice to have silence! Although when the kids are here, I do enjoy their laughter and shenanigans.
GREENBACK It's always a good feeling to know the kids are home safely. I think taking a rest day is wonderful and needed. I feel the same way.

Mandy and I are babysitting Jills pug puppy. I had forgotten what a ball of energy a puppy is. She finally wore out and is sleeping, making Mandy happy. hehehe The puppy is a good distraction today. And I do love dogs, but now know that I will never have a puppy anymore. I'm too old to keep up with one. LOL But I am enjoying the visit of one.
This morning I've been busy putting the winter village away and rearranging things so the humidifier can be in the living area. I think everything is in its place. But I'm sure I'll find something that I think needs to be redone. Annie-vac is still on her dock and now that the puppy is sleeping she will stay on the dock. She can do the work tomorrow. I did take the dust mop and clean a little bit, not the best, but it's now better than it was anyway.
There are several kinds of left overs in the fridge to choose from for supper. Well I know of two anyway. I just have to choose and not cook. I like easy.

MAMMA I see pictures of puppies on Facebook and oh my, how I want one so bad. But I remember how energetic they are and I surely couldn't keep up with them either. I still miss my Kayli. How long will you be babysitting it? Enjoy it then like a DGM, spoil it and send it home. LOL
