It's starting out pretty nice but going to get quite humid and warmer today. The rest of the week will be around 90 and very humid. We'll be turning the a/c back on tomorrow. The nights, so far, have been nice and cool for sleeping.
I spent the day, yesterday, at the hospital with DH. His mom is doing much better, they had her out of bed for a little walk down the hall and she did ok. She'll be in the hospital till at least tomorrow and then we'll see if she is discharged home or to a rehab place. She was telling all the nurses her life story yesterday and had them all laughing. She is quite the story teller. She did a lot of remembering from way back, but can't remember current things. She kept saying she wanted to go home and was hoping we were there to take her home. DH will be going back in a bit. I'm staying home today. The antibiotics for the UTI really are working fast and have brought her back to her usual self.
I've done a little weed control in the garden. Those things sure get out of hand in a hurry. Plus the neighbor doesn't do anything in their yard and they have weeds galore along the fence by my garden and they are creeping into my space.
Carolyn...have you decided to go visit your DD? Hope you are able to go.
Hope everyone is doing well. Have a great day...........

Good morning. Silly bladder woke me up way too early this morning. But I do have a lot to do this morning before it gets so blasted hot. One load of wash is done, towels next, wash the golf cart, car and carport floor. Mandy has to get out to yet. A shower after all that will be highly necessary. Not to mention a clean set of clothes.
CJ, prayers for your MIL and the rest of the family. I"m happy that she is doing better too. I loved hearing the "olden day" stories and miss my grandparents telling them. Stay cool.
Gotta run, or in my case waddle.

Goodmorning grannies, it's a beautiful morning with sunshine and temp going to the 80s. Showers late afternoon. We don't need showers we need some time to dry out.
CJ sorry to hear the MIL is in the hospital. DSIL's mom was hospitalized several times with the UTI must be the plague of older ladies. Glad MIL is improving. Hope she is back to normal quickly. I think I've reached that time of life where there is nothing much happening in my life so the old memories are about all there is to talk about.
Mamma sounds like you are ready for another hot day! I'm sitting here with a flannel shirt over my TShirt wearing capris today not long pants. It's too hot for you to work so hard. Remember there's always tomorrow to do it if not then another day.
Yesterday dd and made the 100 mile trip to the funeral visitation. Saw few people I remembered fun to see the young ladies now as old women! I must not have changed much since they still knew me but I had to ask their name.
We also stopped to visit a friend and had a good visit there. We stopped at a nice diner for lunch and was it ever good! Not too far from here so we hope to get there again. All in all a good day.
DD #2called I spent about an hour on the phone with her. Now it's almost lunch time and I haven't done the regular morning chores. As MJ always it's time to get a wiggle on!

Here I am.....just got back from picking up the latest cucumber order. I will get to these in a bit, needed to sit for a sec. Have to take the Nugget to the vet at 3:30, this guy is really nice, I think he squeezed her in to his schedule. #1 left for his photo shoot and will be back here later, then off to see his wife and MIL at their cabin. We got enough fish for him to take over there for supper. Also sending brownies, raspberries, some jelly and pickles. He wanted some horseradish from the Amish store, it's not the kind he got before, but it is what it is. I'm looking for a recipe for refrigerator pickles-the kind you make in an ice cream bucket, I've two cookbooks sitting out to look at. It's very hazy here again today, it amped up last night just before sunset and is still lingering. BBL, blessed be everyone.

Good Morning Ladies - - - It's 77 and sunny and nice in here now, but I'm sure the AC will be going on either later this afternoon, or tomorrow. I hold off just as long as I can, as I hate the feeling of being closed in. It is actually very comfortable here now, and I don't even have the ceiling fan on. CJ, I missed you yesterday, but you were right where you needed to be. Glad to hear DMIL is doing better. It seems so strange that given that she likes to story tell and visit with the nurses, she doesn't want to do the same with the people at the apartment. Do you think something happened when she first got there that makes her so uncomfortable around those folks? Or do you think, since you and Mark were there, that she felt safe? The weeds sure can take over is a hurry. Mamma, that shower is going to feel good after your outside chores are finished. You will be good for a rest after that, or maybe you will want to dabble in the card making later today. Bet you have some watermelon close by to cool down with. I sure missed everyone yesterday - looking forward to hearing from you today.

Done with washing the car and the cart. Tomorrow may be another day but it will be in a heat advisory again. The dark clothes are on the lines here and the towels are on the rinse cycle and ready for Downy. We no longer have cold water so care must be taken when sorting clothes to be washed. The only cold water now is in the fridge.
I could tell I was starting to get too much heat so I stopped right away came inside and stripped. I'm all cooled down now and in clean clothes/house dress. The car and cart are back in the carport too. No more outside for me other than get the clothes off of the lines later and take Mandy out this afternoon. So I've got quite a few hours of cool rest time.
The neck fan that I purchased is really working out great. It even helps when I get a hot flash. When I get warm working in the house I have it on and it really makes a difference. If I only had remembered to order it sooner.
After I get the electric bill, and if I have some money left, I'm thinking of replacing the drab gray curtains in the craft room with pink. I like color and Mark liked gray. I have enough trouble with being depressed, I need happy colors around me. This is the last room to get color and I spend quite a bit of time in here at my desk/computer and crafts.

Good morning from sunny, warming up Ohio. It's almost 80* and will be in the upper 80's today. I don't remember when I posted last, I think it was Friday. Saturday was a good, relaxing day as I had done the cleaning earlier in the week. I did laundry and ironing and not a lot more. DD and I went out for supper at a new restaurant. The building is new but it's a business that closed in an old, worn out building into this new one. I was impressed and we definitely go back. Yesterday was the typical day. Last night it was Prime Timers at the church so we ate and played games. A fun night. Today a friend and I will be heading to the nursing home to visit a couple of shut in's. My friend is also a widow and a prime timer.
CJ Your neighbor needs a shaming! for the weeds. LOL I also hope your DMIL gets well soon. I can very much relate to her talking about the past. I tell people, there's more past in my life than future. The journey on this earth gets shorter at this age.
MAMMA Mandy must have a huge bladder. LOL Remember, you're retired things don't always need to be done right away. But who am I? I tend to be that way too, if it needs to be done or I want it done, do it!
GRAMMY I laughed at your comment about how your friends had aged....we spoke of the same thing last night at Prime Timers. We wondered if they looked in the mirror and still see the bright perky youth they were. LOL Isn't it nice to find a good restaurant that satisfies our taste!!
LAURIE Another busy day for you. Enjoy!
GREENBACK What would we do without the comfort of a/c? Mine hasn't kicked in yet but I know it will later today. Right now, it's comfortable in here. I also like the bright sunshine and having the house opened up.
Time to get moving.

Looks like it was a tight squeeze in the doorway this morning. We better let Laurie go first, as she's got a lot more to do that Grammy and I. Glad you had a good day seeking those you don't see so often anymore, Grammy, even if the reason for the gathering was sad. Nice find on the dinner also, so you can look forward to a return trip. Laurie, I'm sure you will find the cuck receipe and then can enjoy them later - - You are so good to share the efforts of your hard work. AH, horseradish, a good treat. We planted some at the house, and it was always a treat, but not much fun to grind.

Greenback....DMIL has always been a talker. I don't think anything negative happened with her lunch group, in fact she used to tell us about all of them. She got to know them quite well. But she's always thinking negative about people and thinking they want to know her business when they are just trying to be friendly. Anyway, she has already said she wants her meals in her room. The doctor told DH and his brother that the best thing for her is being around people. Just don't think that is going to happen no matter how much we try to tell her and encourage her. She can be quite stubborn. Haven't gotten a report on her, yet, today. Waiting for DH to text me with her condition and what's going on.
I have supper going in the crock pot....pork tenderloin. I'll make some smashed red potatoes with it and broccoli. I like when I know what I'm making ahead of time instead of standing in the kitchen at supper time and wondering what to make.
Grammy...sounds like you had a nice day out with DD.
Lauriet...you sure are busy with the canning. I've never done that but I know how nice it will be this winter. I'm still waiting for something from my garden to pick. Sure is taking longer this year.
Mamma.....I think the price you have set for your cards is just right. I need to look at the grocery today for a watermelon. We love them and usually every summer have on in the fridge all summer. But this year seems I just haven't bought many. Also the prices on them are usually outrageous. Have to wait for a good sale.

No watermelon in my fridge. The Kandy brand isn't available anymore or at least the last couple times I checked, and I've tried others and just ended up throwing them away. I'll try one more time to find my Kandy watermelon but will not buy another brand. I've thrown enough away and hate throwing money away like that.
The huge load of towels dried nicely. I add a dry towel to them and it really does help shorten the dry time. Now all are folded and put away. Soon the denim capris should be dry on the lines so I can put them away and then I can call the laundry done!!
Oh my goodness I'm getting so hungry and it's not even 10 am yet. Too late for breakfast and too early for brunch. Not sure what to make either.

No comfortable weather here this week. Turned my AC back on yesterday. It'll be on all week now. Some showers maybe today. Tinker is hiding in the closet. Her favorite place to be. She slept in there the last two nights. No housework for me today. I do enough over the weekends. Christina comes tomorrow. An appt. with the urologist for me then no appts. for two weeks. YEAH!!!
CJ Good news on your MIL
Mamma I still didn't finish cutting my watermelon. Doing it as soon as I get off here. Good time to do it as Christina takes my garbage out tomorrow.

Good afternoon to all on a hot and humid day. At 92, this will be the coolest day of the next 10 days! Going up in both temp and humidity every day. Grammy wish you could send us the rain you don't need! We are desperate! Farmers are feeding hay as fast as they can get what little they have in the field baled. We had only 9 big bales as our share from our place after DBIL takes his 60% for cutting, raking, and baling it. We usually have at least 20 big bales, and most often 25! DSIL#2 came out to get the bales out of the field on Saturday morning and when he asked what he owed us and we told him we were giving it to them, DH said he actually had tears in his eyes. Farmers and ranchers are in critical shape this season! We usually sell our portion of the hay and use it to pay for our winter propane each year, but, as DH told DSIL, family helps family and that is all there is to it! We are happy to help in some small way; we love their cows, too, especially the fluffy ones and the two longhorns! By the way, 10-year-old Emmett drove the dually truck with the hay trailer behind it while DSIL guided DH who was loading with the bale-spike equipped Bobcat. He was so proud and did such a good job! That meant a lot to DH as that field where they were loading was where he learned to drive when helping on the farm.
We were home doing chores and loading hay Saturday morning and then drove to Linn, MO, for the delayed graduation party for our niece who will be attending the University of Arkansas to study architecture. Had a good time there, stopped for pizza afterward and then basically sat down and did nothing until bed time. Of course, we had worked hard that morning and it was after 7 when we got home. We are enjoying the Tough As Nails TV show and watched a recording of the Friday night episode that we had missed.
Sunday, we left before 8:00 a.m. and drove the 3 hours or so to West Plains, MO, for DH's aunt's funeral. Her name was Nondes, I had never and still haven't heard that name. She was a sweetheart. We visited with all the relatives there, ate lunch with the family, went to visitation, but left before the funeral service and burial as we had to drive all the way back from West Plains which is in Southwest MO to central IL. We ended up getting back here about 6:00 and that was nice as we had to get a bite of supper and unload and get ready for today. We did stop at a new-to-us custard shop where we shared a key lime pie concrete---oh my, yum! A whole piece of key lime pie blended in with their vanilla custard. Delicious!
Today, I have walked four miles, made my rounds of the grocery stores, made a batch of granola (I thought that and some yogurt would be a nice, light, cool, but filling breakfast along with some fruit for DH for breakfast on these hot days). I am making a new recipe for taco pizza with a crescent roll crust for supper. It has a cream cheese base on top of the baked crust, then beef and cheese and a seasoned sour cream drizzle, after the cheese has melted and then topped with shredded lettuce and chopped cherry tomatoes. I hope it is as good as it sounds. We'll have chips and salsa to go with.
Dessert, however, has turned into a disaster. I found a recipe for chocolate mousse which was different than any I had seen and made just enough for two nice servings. I made the chocolate sauce on the stove, stirred it to room temperature, whipped the cream with some vanilla. The video showed to use the mixer to combine the two, but when I stirred in the chocolate mixture and tried to whip it, it all went to liquid! I whipped and whipped to no avail, so I have stuck the whole mixture in the freezer and will try to whip it once it is very cold. I am thinking I have ruined our dessert beyond saving, though. I licked my fingers and it seems to taste very good, but it's about the consistency of chocolate milk now! Do you think I can save it?
Time to finish up dishes and tidying up the kitchen and get to the pool and then back in to make the taco pizza to have it ready when Mike gets home--or at least on its way to being ready. He may want to cool down and shower first because when he is hot, he doesn't feel like eating. Jane, he did enjoy the cold supper last week and I am planning variations of it for him this week, too. I am thinking the taco pizza, providing I don't turn it into a disaster, too, will be appealing to him tonight. At least I hope so!
Love to all, wishing you a good day and week to come!

Debbie I am enjoying my simple cold tuna/pasta salad now on these warm days, but if I remember right, Mike doesn't like tuna. I have never tried it, but I think canned chicken would be fine in it and maybe even crab meat. Glad you were able to work in both family events on your quick trip home. That key lime creation sounds wonderful - - how could it be anything else. How special for Emmett to help with the hay bales. I think that farm kids learn about driving younger than the city friends, however, your city grandsons are accomplished drivers as well. IC, good to have a break from those appointments - enjoy the break. Ellie, your group of Prime Timers seem to be a good group to hang out with. Hope you and your friend had a nice visit to the NH.. Those visits mean a lot to those there. Glad the new dinning place was a winner.

Done for the day, home and changed out of my extremely dirty clothes, supper is over. It's been a weird day over all.
Did 8 quarts of dills after having a nice chat with the farmer at the greenhouse. This family is so very sweet, I think all of them greeted me by name and waved when I left. I enjoy going there, they are so plant knowledgable (of course) but always so pleasant and happy. I heard a weird sound when one jar went in the canner and I have a sneaking suspicion the bottom went out of the jar as it seemed I had a "floater" jar. Oh well, once they go in the water it's a case of cross your fingers. It'd be the only one so far this year and everything else has sealed too. Made an ice cream bucket of refrigerator pickles-my grandma always had these and they are so easy and very good. After that, made some peeled and sliced cukes in a mayo dressing that the Yeti likes.
I called to see how Dad is, pretty much the same. I saw on his Mychart that he had a nurse visit too. I'll be there on Saturday, but probably will go before that too.
Then it was time to take the Nugget to her appt. She had a swelling on her neck that I found out about on Friday and it was getting worse, I was so worried that it would be very bad, turns out she got scratched or poked by something and it was badly infected. He sedated her, then aspirated and lanced it, did some other stuff and got her ready to go. They gave her meds to wake her up too, she was good on the way home but was kind of anxious as she's not been in the car much and the first two times were not great. But, she did that for him on his floor, ew. She managed to snooze through her first meeting of a cat too, silly pup.
Feeling more than a touch out of it, cranky and frustrated w/ some people, so I'll be holding this chair down. I put a load in the washer after the pup was in the truck and got goo on me, they'll go on the line in the morning. Tuesday means Mahjong, I'm planning to go so far. Blessed be everyone.
